I love how they don't advertise this ANYWHERE on their site and it's absolutely amazing. For $60 a year you get free next day shipping, Amazon Prime Video for movies/TV plus Music. Then they throw in free AAA games every month. I mean, why wouldn't you have Amazon Prime in Australia?

    • +12

Sometimes even free same day delivery!
One thing to note though, the Prime included version of Amazon Music is pretty poor compared to the likes of Spotify. Music Unlimted, which costs $12 is the equivalent to paid Spotify. Still good that it's free, just not a replacement for most peoples' spotify subscriptions.

    • Well Amazon has some pretty shitty practices when it comes to employees, if you enjoy supporting companies like this and Apple, then that's your opinion.

      • +20

If you thought that this community cares in general for shitty practices v/s value and savings then you are sorely mistaken.
Almost every big corp has a dark side.

        Random example Tesla - https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/may/18/tesla-wor…

Now back to the topic - Love this! Cant wait to get P V/s Z!

        • +13

Oh they do indeed, people crying not to use Afterpay with the recent eBay sale of 15% off, I have been getting down voted because people think AP prey on the weak or poor? Forcing them to get into debt and charging late fees.
Somehow some of these people making these accusations are actually using the service, which makes them hypocrites.
I don't care how people get their bargains, one is no better than another business as they're all out to make money.
When you weigh up the pros and cons, that's when you get to decide.

      • +4

Not in Australia, it's pretty decent pay and conditions. In America, different story.

        • +4

Yes Australia would not put up with their lack of worker conditions, but these mega companies that have paid very little Australian tax still need to be made accountable.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Our government have been saying that for years and nothing has been done.

        • +1

not really. thenewdaily.com.au provides useful daily non-mainstream news including on the poor wage practices, stacking of the fair work commission by hacks, rorts, grants and subsidies. useful to read beyond the news if anyone watches that for in depth journalism not compromised by murdoch etc

      • +3

Well, if you're paying for Amazon, you missed the great Ozbargain deal where you can get it free, for life (or until they fix the bug)… but yeah, we're still supporting them when we buy stuff.

I like to buy items one at a time. Like, stuff for a few dollars. Express prime shipping must be killing them.

      • Then don't work for them, that's the free market.
I would have no internet without Elon, and no essentials delivered at the height of the pandemic without Bezos.
I have great gratitude for them, the tall poppy syndrome is destructive and needs to go.

    • +9

I fear that Amazon Prime will go up substantially in the not too distant future with the recent ruling that 'gig' contractors are now employees and get significantly more benefits.

      • +10

Frankly, I'm okay with that. At the moment, Prime is downright insane value. Even with a price increase, it will still be decent.
But at least that way, staff might actually get treated somewhat reasonably.

      • +1

Yes, the Amazon Prime price recently went up $20 to $139/year in the US (although they do get more included).

    • +6

Also a monthly Twitch Subscription token, which is worth about $80 a year in itself (if you subscriped to a stream for 6 months at a time).

    • +3

And there are free kindle books too in prime reading.
But no Prime Audibles unfortunately, which would be a really nice addition.

      • Yes, forgot about the kindle books too!

      • But no Prime Audibles unfortunately, which would be a really nice addition.

        That'd be sweet

      • +1

Doesn't Amazon offer discounted audible versions of books you already own, with the books you can get through prime reading counts as being owned? I feel like I've grabbed audiobooks like this in the past before.

        • +1

The Amazon pricing for Audible makes no sense. There's quite a few audiobooks I've bought (not even on sale)

          Kindle book $5

Tickbox to add audible narration for $2.70

If you just pick to buy the audible audiobook outright it's $35

    • +2

You can't get them free directly from Epic, so I don't understand your question

        • +1

          I'm glad.

        • +5

          Ur fried lmao

    • +2

Usually they specify which platform / launcher you can add the game account to, otherwise it's a digital download for Windows as far as I understand.

      • I have Prime which I have for free for 6 months, went into my account and when I looked at 1 game, it went to take me to EPIC.
GTA V is to R* so I am guessing who ever owns the IP on their platform gets the account tied through Prime.

      • This is the answer. It ranges from GOG, Epic, Origin etc, as well as the Amazon Games App for Windows.

        • -1

So Amazon seems to have partnered with the owners of the IP's platform to subsidized gaming.
While it appears to be good, my issue is, do I need another platform as there just seem to be too many already.
Once I remove Prime, I lose the games right?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: No you get to keep the games forever.

            • @Agret: Well that's not a bad offer, I will check out what they have, but I really don't game on PC as mine is set up to edit and shit post with.
Prime is good value, I have used it to order with free shipping some box sets but I don't agree with how they treat their employees.
Another thing is people on eBay are abusing their prime memberships, I have tried to report this to Amazon as the packages that I received came directly from them in their envelopes. The bar code would have shown who the buyer was and then action taken on their account. What I got was, please contact eBay.
So 3 box sets I ordered from eBay all came from Amazon, the worst thing though was I have a Prime account and could have paid the same as what they paid then charged me an additional 40% on top to profit and them do absolute nothing.
I filed 3 claims of return, on the 1st 2 the seller said keep the item and here's your refund, the reason being that their address was in UK but the item would be shipped back to Australia. I reported both sellers to eBay.
The shittiest thing is 1 seller had 48K + positive reviews with only 11 negative, that's almost impossible to achieve, and he is making a ton of money for doing nothing.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: I understand your frustration from the way it looks when you make a purchase. However, I believe the scenario is valid.
Amazon FBA means you can send things into an Amazon warehouse and they will ship it out to the customer for you. Amazon prefers you to sell from the Amazon Marketplace, but you are allowed to sell on another platform (e.g. ebay, shopify).
So the seller is listing their products on ebay and getting Amazon to ship them out when an order is made.

                • @S2: And this is against Amazon's policies.

                  https://www.webretailer.com/b/amazon-to-ebay-arbitrage/#Why_…

Drop shipping, where you fulfill orders directly from a wholesale supplier, is allowed. However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not permitted.

                  Then this.

In Australia, eBay has banned both arbitrage and FBA with a restrictive Third-party fulfillment policy. FBA is specifically mentioned, while arbitrage is made impossible by detailed conditions that must be met:

eBay have banned it themselves as it would be a conflict of interest of their own customers and Amazons business.

                  Then add this.

Using a third party to fulfil eBay orders on your behalf [is allowed], provided all of the following conditions are met:

You are clearly identified as the seller on all packing slips and invoices, and

No seller info what so ever, everything was Amazon, on invoice and packaging.

Using the third-party fulfilment service doesn’t mislead or confuse the buyer as to the origin of their purchase (for example, due to branded packaging), and

When I received the item I was clueless to what it was due to the packaging.

You ensure the safe fulfilment of the item within the terms stated in your listing, and

Well Amazon fulfilled this so this can't be argued.

You ensure that your third-party provider is subject to a contractual condition which prevents them from using or sharing any eBay order information (including the names and contact details of buyers) for any purpose other than the fulfilment of the specific eBay order which they are engaged by you to fulfil.

Amazon now have my personal details when they were not authorized to do so, so the seller is in breach of privacy by giving my details to a 3rd party without my consent.

To make this worse, I went to look at the negative feedback I had left, it's been removed so I rang eBay to close my account, straight away I was put through to an expert (w/e that means) and she patiently listened to what I had said.
I asked her, was there any grounds for my negative feedback to be removed, she said no as there is still a copy on their side and she had read it.
I then pointed out to her in the neutral feedback that people had stated a similar experience as myself.
I asked her 3 times to close my account, she evaded and spoke about something else, guaranteeing me that the matter would be escalated.
So eBay are allowing power sellers to break their own TnC, by allowing unsuspecting buyers to be ripped off by eBay sellers doing absolutely nothing other than inputting a buyer's address when a purchase is made?
THEN having any evidence of this behavior removed due to not complying with eBay policies?

eBay is a breeding ground for sellers like this, that seller has 48K positive reviews, 10 negative, 11 neutral. All for doing nothing.

                  • @[Deactivated]: You should have just opened up a Paypal dispute. They nearly always stand with the buyer if you give enough details of dodgy third party fulfillment practices. Usually they'll give you a partial refund.

                    • @JD9151: I never used PP, but in the instance of my 2 earlier purchases I got full refunds and kept both items as they could not be shipped back to seller's address, they stupidly put in an Aussie return addie when they are based in UK.

Oh my goodness - they are free games, just add them to your pile of shame and be done with it…

    • No.

  • +6

You haven't played a Bethesda game if you haven't played The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

    • +22

You play Bethesda games? My mates and I just stack mods until our computers crash…

    • +1

I've been playing it since 2006. About a third of the way through it I reckon. 'Casual gamer' could be the official term.

    • +1

Agreed! One of the finest games ever created!

    • -2

Really? My first was Skyrim. Was a pretty bad game. If Oblivion is good might give it a go for free.

  • Guys, are there any games here to avoid? I got Madden 22 last time and that ruined my day by the time I downloaded it and it took me an hour or two to try to work it out/realise how useless it is.

    • Hahahaha! I felt the same way when I first started getting free games. They're not all gems. So I look at the Steam store pages for insight. I don't want to clog my collection because the Prime Gaming client is terrible. Click a game, click out of it, and you start right at the top of the list. You need to scroll down to get back to where you were.

  • +6

Get Oblivion on PC and make sure you mod it. Slap Better Cities on and it's already 10x better. I also prefer the graphics over Skyrim.

    • +3

Not just graphics, prefer the overall gameplay and story line over skyrim too :)

      • +1

Can't hate the music/OST either, very relaxing :)

    • +1

Also make sure to grab Northern UI which makes it much friendlier to play and adds full controller support to the game

  • interesting! last night I logged into prime gaming because I thought hmmm no prime gaming deals for such long time, and lo and behold here's one, a few hours after I checked.

how did you learn about what's coming up, OP? I saw nothing when I checked (it was from mobile though, and I could have missed an announcement)

  • +1

Is it just me or does anyone else read the title "Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion" as "Trump Boy Commits Tax Evasion"? Thought it was some real life game thing :-)

  • +3

Not the best month I must be honest.

    • +11

I beg to differ. We've got Good Friday, Easter Monday & ANZAC Day too.

    • The last two months have been terrible too.

Looks like we no longer get the Origin, Epic and GOG games.

      • Epic has continued giving weekly games. Unless you mean via Prime Gaming?

Plants vs Zombies - Battle for Neighborville should be an Origin key.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion should be a Steam key.

        • +1

Prime Gaming. We had such a good run last year with Star Wars games, Battlefield games, Control, Tomb Raider etc keys you could redeem on Epic, GOG or Origin.

That seems to have dropped right off.

  • +15

Nice, glad I didn't buy oblivion 16 years ago - now it's free!

    • =D That is bloody hilarious

  • +1

Turnip Boy is super cute, short litte game. I played it on switch and really liked it.

  • +1

    Excited for Turnip Boy.

  • Will Oblivion be a download or a GOG code I wonder?

  • +1

Man I haven't played Oblivion (I don't think). Hope it is secretly the GOTY edition.

Oh wait, that might have been Skyrim :(

    • Hopefully it is GOTY edition, Shivering Isles is amazing.

  • cant seem to find PvZ in games list to be claimed

    • +3

      In 3 days

  • Just wondering, I bought prime around 15 March and claimed the free games then (I think it was the NFL one?), will I have to renew prime again on ~15 April to get these games?

    • If you paid on March 15th I'd say you're covered until April 14th at least. These new freebies will go live tomorrow, and you should be able to get them, I would think.

      • +1

        Will report back tomorrow. Thanks!

    • No, you don't need to renew. You can get these games right now.

  • Thanks Dealbot. You always post absolute top-notch stuff. It's a bit sad there have been 3,300 click-throughs on this but only 234 positives.

    • You need an Ozbargain account to vote but not to click through.

    • +1

Don't be too sad. They are just fake internet points at the end of the day.

House of 1000 Doors - "This offer is currently experiencing issues and is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later."

    • +2

      Yes, same here still.

      • Same.

  • +1

Seems we don't need to use the launcher to claim the extra 5 any more, was able to claim from the Prime Gaming home page (as was last month). Guess that's one more thing I can uninstall now.

  • +2

Got an oblivion gog code for someone to claim if they want it. Already purchased a while back :P

    Will send via PM

    • Hi mate

Would love to get Oblivion if you've still got it.

      Thanks for your generosity!

      • +2

        PM sent

        • +2

          Appreciate it!

          Thanks so much!

  • Dumb question. I've only every played PVZ on mobile from back in the day.

Is [PC] Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville a PVE or PVP game?

    • It's an FPS

    • It has both PvE and PvP although I'm not sure how active the PvP would be in it, probably playing against mostly bots.

      • Great! I"ll install and give it a whirl! :)

  • GOG code for Oblivion

For Amazon Prime subscribers who haven't yet secured/played Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge (2010 remaster), you should take advantage of this freebie deal while it lasts …

… with the official announcement / April Fools double-bluff, that the first two Monkey Island games' original designers - Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman - have reunited to complete development of Return to Monkey Island:

    • this is a new game that "picks up where Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge left off"
    • slated for release sometime in 2022 (some 31 years after LeChuck's Revenge was released way back in 1991)
    • Announcement Trailer video
  • Actually remembered to claim this month for once. Cheers
