Any reason people would buy this and not just play it off the game pass?

    • +4

Always nice to own a copy of the game so you can play it even if you don't want to pay for the gamepass sub anymore.

Plus especially in this case they like to de-list the older Forza games, so you won't be able to play it if you haven't bought it yet once it happens.

      • +13

You can't beat the value of Xbox Game Pass 3 year subscription with Turkish VPN activation for about $145. That sort of value is OP and unparalleled to anything else.

        • Oh yeah 100%, that's what I did as well.

Even if you play just one game a year on it it's more than paid for itself!

        • +1

Because it’s stolen keys that’s why it’s cheap lol

    • +6

      basically just delisting.

but if that's your worry pick it up when the sale hits before delist.

      • this. I've done this with the previous FH and FM games

        • Apparently it's a car licensing thing

          • @NickimusRex: It is, they expire and aren't worth renewing as the ongoing sales of the older games won't cover the licensing cost. Or something to that effect

      • Yeah… Surely an old Forza game will be pretty cheap by the time it's delisted (if you are still really that keen on playing it at that point in time).

    • +3

Yes, some people don't go for long term GamePass subscriptions. They get $1 deals. Micro$soft had not had the guts not to offer $1 deals when a new first party title is released and had so far offered $1 for 3 months around Christmas, so realistically, one could just rely on those.

Also, eventually, Forza games will be removed from GamePass due to car licensing issue. Forza Horizon 3 never got put on GamePass.

So, if you played a fair amount of Forza Horizon 5, are you willing to completely let go of your progress a few years down the track? I already caved in and bought Forza Horizon 2, 3, and 4 (+ expansion packs) and already bought the expansion packs + VIP membership for Forza Horizon 5. Eventually, I reckon I will purchase Forza Horizon 5. That price is not tempting enough yet. Also, I prefer the digital version.

If they don't have or want game pass.
If they want to own not rent the game.

      • +1

having an xbox without game pass is kinda like having a bath without water though.

        • For a casual player game pass is not important.

I own the titles I want to play and sometimes go few months without gaming.

I'm really tempted to buy Forza 5 at this price but I know I'd enjoy it much more if it would be a digital premium version. I'm not going to pay $150 for that pleasure though. Maybe if it drops below $100, or better yet, $80 :D

I had the Forza 4 on the disc for couple of years and once the Ultimate digital version went on special I bought it and played it much more and enjoyed having more cars etc. It also helps that the Series X loads the games instant so playing for a half an hour something is now much easier :)

    • +2

eh im thinking of cancelling gamepass tbh, its good to try games out you might not otherwise play, but this sort of game is the kind you will play hundreds of hours and better off just buying, especially on discount

    • I bought an xbox only for Forza 4 to be honest and I'll pick this up for the same reason.

I've subbed to gamepass when its been offered for $1 but the bulk of my gaming is on PS5. Nothing wrong with xbox, gamepass is by far a better option than whats offered on PS for sure though but i prefer my PS collection and experience overall.

    • No idea hey.

    • Not everyone wants another ongoing subscription to pay for, or they dont have that much time and interest to be gaming that much to justify the monthly cost, or (like me) I dont want my son to become addicted to gaming and would rather him spend time learning other things and playing outside.

cheapest price to be found at the moment

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/forza-horizon-5-xbox-series-…

    $44

    • Now that's tempting

    • Nice, reckon amazon will price match $44?

      • I wonder if we can notify them of a price to see if they price match. I'd rather avoid Gerry where I can.

Question, why are people so against HN but so pro-Amazon?

I feel like Amazon is a far worse company?

          • @putshan: If HN did not insist on introducing Harvey GST, we could still buy items from Amazon USA, UK without paying GST (if it is under $1000).

HN's price guarantee is so dodgy. (1) if you let them know the cheaper price at the time of the purchase, they could just price match, rather than price beat. But the worst part is (2) the stores can still refuse to price match. Years ago, I used to ask HN to price match MSY, a few of the stores simply informed me no price match on MSY prices. Same goes for appliances. Quite often, my local HN store simply refuses to price match Good Guys store next store. I suspect HN already stopped the price guarantee.

          • +1

@putshan: Not sure why you’re getting downvotes. Amazon is no angel. It’s a legitimate question. But don’t let’s facts get in the way of HN hate.

I mean I dislike HN too. But Amazon? Really?

      • Hopefully!

      • +1

Amazon have matched - now showing as $44

        • Yes I saw that and bought it straight away, thanks

    • -3

good find. I meant to be cheapest on Amazon. sorry.

    • What's funny is their RRP is $1 more than Amazon's reduced from $99.95 bs.
      HN RRP = $59, Amazon reduced $ is $58.

  • It's free on gamepass guys :)

    • +1

Technically you need to pay for gamepass so it's not free

      • Yes the game is Free, Game pass is not.
You could subscribe for 1 month for $1 and you would still complain.

  • Is it a clearance sale as new one is coming out soon?
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/forza-motorsport-xbox-series…

    • Just clearance, given that Harvey Norman is generally not the first go-to for gaming.

This one only came out last November too.

    • Different game this was the clearance/delisting sale for it https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/641389

    • That's a new one, Forza Motorsport 8. Interestingly, it was announced around the time Series S|X was announced, but Forza Horizon 5 ended up being released first.

  • Stupid questions - will this entitle me to have the PC version? I don't have an XBOX

    • -2

      it should

      • +1

        No, different sorry.

    • +1

No it wont, Game Pass Ultimate allows for both PC and Xbox as long as the game is enabled anywhere.

Edit I will add that since you're only on PC. This is what you need.

      • Thanks for the info!

    • +1

No. Disc versions only contains the Xbox One/ Xbox Series versions, not PC.

    • +1

I had the same question. Thanks for asking it so others answered it for me haha.

I once got Horizon 4 on my Xbox and then switched to PC and I still had it. This is a disc so it seems like it won't work for PC tho :(

  • With Microsoft Rewards I can probably snag this for free in a few months

Game Pass made me buy an Xbox but Microsoft Rewards will make me stay

    • I used reward points to buy the ultimate add-on (for Forza Horizon 5) so VIP bonus, extra cars, and expansion packs. That grindy that way.

Now, the question is how much are we willing to pay for the main game (with reward points). Need to play some dumb games to get reward streaks going for the bonus reward points.

      • I’m actually saving mine for a controller from the Microsoft store

I find the weekly punch card is the one to focus on I think. Eventually you’ll get 2,500 points per week once you’re on a massive streak. That’s 10,000 points per month alone

        • Controller… that's a better idea. Hardware is better than software.

My Forza Horizon 2, 3, 4 are collecting dust at the moment. Getting tired of Forza Horizon 5 much earlier than the other ones.
