It's just been announced that Forza Motorsport 7 is getting delisted from the Microsoft Store on September 15. This also means that it'll no longer be available on Game Pass (Game Pass players who purchased DLC will receive a token for the game).

On September 15, 2021, Forza Motorsport 7 will reach End of Life status. This means that the game and its DLC will no longer be available to purchase in the Microsoft Store or available with Xbox Game Pass.

However, after September 15, players who already own Forza Motorsport 7 will still be able to download and play the game and its associated content as normal. In addition, features like multiplayer and online services will still be accessible for those who own the game.

For any Xbox Game Pass players who previously purchased DLC for the game, but not the game itself, we have good news! You will receive a token for the game through the Xbox Message Center so that you can continue playing Forza Motorsport 7. Token distribution will be through August 2. However, if after that date you have not received your token, please contact Xbox Support here. (Unused tokens will expire on September 15, 2023.)

If you know someone who has yet to play Forza Motorsport 7, we are offering a discount on the game in the Microsoft Store through September 15.

    No I don't feel as burnt buying it and then it going on gamepass.
    Still trying to dial in logitech wheel on pc - lots of customisation and my usb handbrake works.
    Just get some massive under steer in certain cars tracks.

    I'm curious as to why MS would do this? Cost of hosting / servicing the game exceeding the revenue generated by it, I guess? I can't recall any examples of games being declared EOL (apart from the Forza Motorsport series) and not available to purchase online (except for platform exclusivity reasons).

      Licensing for the various cars, logos, likenesses, etc in-game. It happens with games that use licensed music too; they're not allowed to continue selling new copies but anyone who already has the game continues to own it.

      Since there's typically a new horizon every 2 years and a new motorsport every 2-3 years they just let each expire with about 1 year overlap (e.g., Horizon 4 will probably be removed next year). There's just been a bigger gap with Motorsport this time due to the new generation.

        And it's happened to other racing car games too. Dirt 3, Grid, F1 2013 all got removed from Steam a few years ago likely because of license issues.

      I like it just for the sight seeing lol.

      I'm not a fan of racing games, but spent 10+ hours on both Horizon 3 and 4.

        Ouch, the Hot Wheels DLC was really great.

        Microsoft should really be selling complete edition retail versions with all of the DLC in their games for preservation purposes.

          I only put a few hours into FH3 (I was still playing FH4 at the time). I never made it to the Hotwheels content. Is it worth going back and checking it out? Maybe I'll play that while I wait for a FH5 discount?

      I own both Motorsports 7 and Horizon 4 and just enjoy the Gauntlet on HZ4, played it over 100 times now.

      Tried Motorsport 7 and I feel it takes too long to unlock what I want to do (ie drive Monaco circuit) so I just drive the Gauntlet over and over again with different cars :D

      You could only do this prior to this mornings announcement. That method is no longer valid.
      I need to check whether i purchase any DLC over the course of the last few years while playing via GamePass. If not, ill probably pick up the base game digitally or a secondhand physical copy.

    When is Forza 8 coming out ?

    Feeling a bit burnt by them removing this from gamepass without a replacement.

    One of the few games I play on gamepass at the moment.

      Next year most likely, they're doing a huge rework to the engine so it should be a big improvement compared to FM7 if that makes the wait more worthwhile.

          Try again, arguing in particular that the player pool will be reduced or MP turned off entirely (idk what they're doing, idc tbh) and you only bought it a month ago as it is, never hurts to try. I've had nothing but great experiences when it comes to MS and refunds, and I've done my fair share.

          Hell, I've bought a fair few full priced games just bc they had the 6000 MS Reward points, then returned the games, and pocketed the points.

          Try again and push a bit, they will always say something like we can't do refunds for X but if you push a bit and act sad (lol) they tend to help and go a bit further, be super nice too.

    I like gamepass for the variety but I personally prefer to own my games. I don’t want corporations telling me when i can and can’t resist them.

    That’s the beauty of gaming. As an older gamer I loved switching on the N64 or whatever for a quick blast. Given all the money we pour into gaming now it’s just funny to me to now we get less freedom not more.

      Thing is Xbox 1st party will always stay in game pass and that's why most people sign up to it. Motorsport and Horizon are the only games that will leave because it's been delisted which is a legal issue not MS just removing games just because they can. I do think that the upcoming Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport will have a better clauses in the contracts to keep it at least in game pass forever. Also you can still buy the physical copies of these 2 games so theres that.

    Is Forza 7 worth it if you have, and didn’t get that far into, Forza 6? Are there any exclusive modes in 7?

    I was a big fan of Forza 4. Forza 5 was scant. Forza 6 was okay. Played Horizon 1 and 2 to death. Halfway through 3… and 4 is on the backlog.

    Whaddya think?
