ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Visa: Bonus 160,000 Qantas Points & $225 Back ($3,000 Spend in 3 Months, $425 Fee) - ANZ Customers Only

4880

Deal link goes to public product page because I couldn't work out how to submit this deal without a link - look at description or screenshot

Found this huge Qantas Points offer in the ANZ app a couple of days ago:

An exclusive offer to ANZ customers only.
Earn 160,000 bonus Qantas Points and $225 back to your new card when you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first 3 months from approval. New card. T&Cs, >eligibility criteria, fees and charges apply (including an Annual Fee, currently $425). Screenshot

You can get to this offer via ANZ Internet Banking in browser, or in the ANZ App.

If you aren't an ANZ customer: I mentioned this offer to a friend who then opened a transaction account and was able to immediately see the offer in their new internet banking and apply for the card. The basic ANZ transaction account is $5 a month, which you can get waived if you deposit $2k into the account each month (doesn't need to stay in the account). You could close the account once you get your bonus points (possibly once you get the card?)

Aside from this massive number of bonus points, card features are:

  • Earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $7,500 per statement period
  • A higher Qantas Points earn rate compared to all other ANZ Frequent Flyer cards
  • Uncapped Qantas Points
  • Complimentary Frequent Flyer Membership and a discount on a 1 year Qantas Club membership
  • Two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations each year
  • Complimentary insurances including International Travel Insurance
  • Up to 55 days interest free on purchases

You can see the general details of the card (at it's usual lower offer value) here

I think this might be the highest consumer bonus points offer available at the moment, I certainly haven't seen any higher recently.

If you haven't earned Qantas Points from a credit card in the past 12 months, you may be able to stack with the New Cardholder Bonus of 20,000 points (from Qantas). The ANZ Black card is listed on the relevant page, and it doesn't specify that you have to click through the Qantas page to get the offer, but I haven't tried! The New Cardholder Bonus from Qantas ends on March 31 (there's no end date listed for the ANZ card offer).

Edit: Clarified end date in post applies to 20k top-up offer, not 160k sign-up offer.

          • @Coops1: Got my card approved thru anz app. And now about to join and register for quantas membership. Hopefully get the bonus 20k points.

      • How long did it take you to get the points?

        • Check if you have pending points for next statement.

You can see this when you log onto ANZ banking, select the FF card, then on the left side click reward points.

Once you have met the spend, you will see

Bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned this period 160 000

          • @CodeXD: I did check. Nothing. I've made in excess of 10k points already, so spend is not a problem.

            • @nightelves: When did you get the approval SMS/email for the card? That is when the 3 months starts.

              • @CodeXD: Most people have been getting it early hence I'm a bit puzzled as to when Anz credits the points.

                • @nightelves: Have you at least received the $225 cashback? That hit my account about 2 weeks after meeting spend. When I received the cashback, I checked my reward points and said I have 160 000 pending for this period.

                  • @CodeXD: Nah have not received that either. Been waiting for anz for the last 40mins now.

                    • @nightelves: My experience.
                      - Made the $3000 spend before first statement issued.
                      - Received spend points in QF day after statement
                      - Received bonus 20k Qantas points day after spend points
                      - 160k pending in anz reward points midway thru second statement period.
                      - Received spend points on second statement date.
                      - plus Received 100k + 60k at same time

                      • @Coops1: Thanks for that I'll keep an eye on it.

                        • @nightelves: I also haven't received the $225… Need this to make points club plus for flight in 2 weeks.

                      • @Coops1: couple o questions;
how did you get 'bonus 20k Qantas points'?
'160k pending in anz reward points midway' - how did you check that it's being processed? are your QF points being recorded elsewhere in ANZ?

i had 1.4k on the first statement and 4.4k on the second that just came today. Based on your chronology of events, my 160k points should be in process now that i've spent above the 3k requirement and a statement to show for it.

                        • +1

@plentifoo: Register here, it may or may not work, as your suppose to register first, but definitely need to before the points post to qantas. https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/member-offers/ne…

When you login to the ANZ website, rewards points (which includes Qantas) show on the left hand side options. They will appear here before posting to QF on the next statement.

  • Does anyone know if Councill rates are part of the eligible spend? Not sure if they are considered 'Government Charges'

    • +1

I know if you can beem it, it will count.

  • Is it 130k or 160k - all I can see on the offer when login is 130

    • Use the ANZ mobile app to get 160k.

      • cant locate offers in ANZ App, can you please guide? sorry i am new to anz app

        • +2

At the bottom click For You -> Personal accounts -> Credit cards -> ANZ FF Cards

  • My apologies if this has been covered in the previous 9 pages of dialogue but what is the minimum credit limit for this product?

I'm pretty sure the last time I had the ANZ Black it was 15k

  • I can see in the app that it is 160k but when I do proceed to apply, it says 130k… hmmm

    • turn. off. your. adblocker.

      • I'm using the app - I have no adblocker on my phone.

I can see the 160k offer on the app but when I get redirected, the offer reverts to 130k.

        • +1

What browser are you using? A lot of them have built in ad-blocker.

I use MS Edge and had to turn it off in settings -> Privacy and security -> block ads -> off

        • +1

CodeXD solution always fixed it. But a silly and confusing ANZ process strikes again (an august change special maybe)……..if you click continue the 160k offer will reappear. Screen shots will help if it goes south.

Hopefully you have already registered for the 20k deal (registrations closed) as well….

  • Has it just changed to be 130K bonus points? I opened an ANZ savings account to get access to it, but can now only see the Frequent Flyer Black card offering 100K bonus points and 30K after keeping the card for 12 months.

    • +1

offer is only on anz app, if you see 130k bonus after clicking the link, disable ad blocker

  • I have 165,000 rewards points when I log into my ANZ online banking.

Can anyone confirm how long or when points transfer over to FF?

  • +3

Finally got my 160k QFF bonus points today. Just wanted to share my timeline

    • Got the card in June and spent the required amount within the first few weeks
    • First statement was issued however the cashback and the QFF points were not there.
    • Received the cashback few days ago
    • Got my second statement yesterday which included the bonus points however it had not been transferred to my QFF
    • Had a look again this morning and the bonus point is now in my QFF account

I saw some people also posted that they received the cashback and bonus points on the second statement despite meeting the requirement within the first month. Hope this helps a bit if you are still waiting for yours!

  • Hi Guys,

I have my council rates to pay. Does ANZ recognise it if I immediately make the spend on them ?

Or do I have to use a 3rd party app eg (snip) to pay the council rates to be eligible for the points?

    Thanks in Advance

    • +1

If in doubt, beem it will count towards the spend.

Council rate will most likely not count towards the spend if you pay directly with the card.

      • Thank you for the reply.

Yes I thought they would not count it directly.

Are you 100% sure about Beem it?

      • Did you ever encounter issues with adding the card onto Beem it? I'm getting a "There was a problem adding your card" error, with Beem it saying "We were unable to send the two tiny amounts to your card."
        Confirming card is already activated.

        • Make sure the card details are correct? I've never had an issue adding card to beem it. Make sure you're on the latest beem it version too.

        • Have you added it to more than 1 beemit account?

      • Wait does this mean I could just transfer $3k from a credit card linked to beemit to another of my accounts to meet the minimum spend??

        • +1

You cannot transfer from credit card on beem it, only bpay.

  • Silly question.

I don't have a frequent flyer account to my knowledge, how are my points "given" to me? I assume they will be in some way?

    • +1

They ask you for frequent flyer number when you sign up, otherwise you can call them up afterwards to link one to your ANZ account.

      • Oh dear, ok so I need to make a frequent flyer account of some kind.
Any idea where I can check if I've somehow got one previously?

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it
(I think for the ANZ rewards black the points were ANZ specific points so obviously, easier to be allocated those to spend, if I recall)

        • +1

Try to sign up, and if you have an account with that email, they'll tell you.

If you have multiple email addresses, do a search for emails from frequent flyer.

        • As an ANZ customer, you are eligible to receive complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer membership (saving A$99.50).

You can sign up for one here: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/discover-and-joi…

  • -1

Has anyone had issues adding an ANZ FF Black Visa to beem it? It is coming up with a "There was a problem adding your card" error.
Confirming card is already activated and have made other transactions with it.

  • Hey I'm on my phone.

Can someone post this, free karma

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/708291

They're back to 20% reduction I think? Not as good as 30, but it's a start.

    Hoping for another 30% soon.

  • Is this offer available to new customers that sign up for ANZ Plus? The benefit of ANZ Plus would be no monthly account fee to worry about, and 2.5%pa interest on the ANZ Save account

    • This. It would be if anyone could shed some light on this question.

    • +2

If you get an anz account with anz plus, then yes.

      • I signed up to ANZ plus instead of normal ANZ and don't see anything in the app.

        • Looks like ANZ plus is a totally different app to the normal ANZ.

Not sure where it might be, but in the normal app it is:

At the bottom click For You -> Personal accounts -> Credit cards -> ANZ FF Cards

EDIT: looks like the ANZ plus and normal ANZ are not linked at all. They 2 totally separate app so you cannot see one account from the other app and vice versa. This deal is only accessible from ANZ app.

  • I only see 130k points in my offers. any idea how can i get 160k points?

    • +4

      read the comments

  • Opened a new account yesterday and applied today for this credit card. I also uploaded the payslips at the end of application. It's been 2 hours now and I haven't received anything from ANZ. Is this suspicious or I have to wait more? What was other people's experience?

    • +2

      It's been 2 hours now

      lol.

iirc confirmation took about 2-3 days for me as these are manually assessed and then approved.

    • It took me a couple of days, some people up to a week. If they don't need anything from you it's usually a bit faster, if they need to call you and ask for anything extra it's a bit slower.

      They're not quick.

      • I think I didn't explain it clearly.
        I didn't mean approval!
        I haven't received application received email…

        • Oh I see! I did get an email requesting pay slips a little while after I applied (same day), so if you get nothing at all (check your spam?) for a while you might want to check.

          • @tombarbera: It asked for my payslips at the end and I attached them then but didn't receive ANY communication about my application…

  • Will it work if I am an existing frequent flyer member? Thank you friends!

    • +1

Yup, not a sign-up offer for Qantas Frequent Flyer, just for the ANZ card. I already had a QFF account and assume most people who used this deal did too.

  • I know it says within 3 months, but what are user experiences in terms of being credited the 160,000 after hitting the 3k spend?

    Is it genuinely 3 months?

    • +3

Next statement after you meet the 3k spend in my experience.

      • +1

Think I've just hit it and next statement comes in 3 weeks.

Fingers crossed it lands in 3 weeks then

      • Applied Wed evening, request payslip on thurs and Friday get a call to confirm my financial details and then approved.

  • It's been 1 week since applying and I've heard nothing. Is that usually a bad sign?

    • i applied last monday and was approved by the wednesday (2 days later)

  • Ok $200 credit and 160k points deposited (168k actually)

Now to wait (pray?) for the 30% off gift card deal again.

  • Might be a silly question but for the lounge passes, do you have to be flying Qantas?

    • Yep, you do. You have to request the lounge passes from the ANZ concierge, then they are added to your Qantas FF account. When you want to use them, you link them to a specific Qantas flight.

You can still use them after you close the ANZ card - they have a 12 month expiry from when they are issued to you.

      • +1

Thanks - I never fly Qantas and have no inclination to after their recent showings.

        • You can also link to Jetstar flights (this is probably worse but FYI)

      • I forgot about this perk! Are the QFF lounge passes transferable?

        • Yes.

          • @timhn: How do you do this? Post above suggests they are added to your FF account.

            • +1

@gadgetguy: Once the lounge pass in your account, you can transfer to anyone.

Search for Qantas lounge passes in the Classified forum here.

  • Register ANZ Progress Saver today, there is no 160000 points offer anymore LOL.

    • +2

Still on mine For You, personal account, credit cards, frequent flyer cards, disable ad blocker to get 160k or else only get 130k

    • +1

Use the app and not the website

    • +1

Just signed up for a progress saver and found the 160K points offer in the app today so it's still valid.

  • I've just sent my application in, I don't have a Qantas Frequent Flyer account when I did the application, I made one after, if I get approved do I just add my account then?

  • How do I check the offer once I get the card? Just wanted to make sure I'm getting the 160k points and cashback because the welcome kit/app doesn't mention it.

    • +1

You'll see $225 or $200 credit or whatever it is, in your statement / transaction history, mine took a week or two after I hit 3k.

Then the next cycle they'll pay out QFF points if you add the account.
I made a free QFF account (never had one) then I used ANZ app on phone let them know via chat and they linked it, got points about 3 or 4 days later.

      Stopped using card now, l m a o.

Ready to cancel in 3 or 4 months before the year is up.

      • +1

Cancel now. Starts the 12 month timer on when you can reapply for the same card and do it all again.

        • I tend to wait at least a month or two to be sure all my automated payments are unsubscribed for it

It's a great deal, do you know if it messes up our credit rating? I might do the Westpac one next.

  • When is the $225 returned?

    • +2

I'm pretty sure for me it was the first statement after I hit the spend target.

      • Cheers, will keep an eye out

  • The plan is to open a ‘ANZ Access Advantage’ account, wait for the ‘ANZ FF Black Visa’ offer to appear within the app, apply, hopefully get approved. Couple of questions, can you apply through the app? And should i create a FF account prior to applying? Ive never has a CC or a FF account. This is all new to me.

My situation is i have to fly back the UK at least once every couple of years so the points should come in useful (i have no desire to use CC poibts on anything else) and i hVe just bought my first house so want to use the CC to pay for most things which i’ll pay off in full each month and keep as much money in my Redraw/Offset as possible.

    • Hey mate, that seems to be a good plan. When you click the link in your app it'll open up a browser for you to complete your application in. I am in the same situation with you with regards to the FF account, never had one before. However you will definitely find the answer if you have a quick browse of this thread.

By the way, I literally just got approved about 10 minutes ago which is why I am visiting this thread again.

My experience wasn't great at all (lengthy and tedious) but that would be due to the fact that my income has fluctuated a lot in recent months. If they decide to ask you for further information (3 months worth of bank statements, payslips, letter from employer, documents that prove the existence of other credit cards) they can and in my case they did for all of the aforementioned.

Congrats on the first home purchase, it should be a piece of cake to meet the minimum spend requirement. Another thing of note, besides the FF points which are great, ANZ also offers complimentary travel insurance with this CC when you spend $250 on a travel related expense. I had a look at most complimentary travel insurance PDSs and this one is really good; especially in the COVID cover department. Good luck with the application.

      • Thanks for being so helpful mate. It's great to learn from others who have done it before you. The guy below just told me to get the progress saver account as there is no $5 monthly fee. Again not much but it's defiantly more convenient. So you did setup the bank account within the app? I've been in the same job (Radiographer) with the same company for the last 6 years so it should go smoothly but if not i'll do what needs to be done.

Yeah well I'm hoping to book 2 flights home (UK) for this Christmas which is well over 6k so i can use the CC for that hopefully. I also have stuff to buy for the house that will easily take me over.

It's definitely a learning curve on what is deemed eligible payments etc but i'll learn as i go. How long from you setting up your ANZ account did you get your CC approval? Also many above have said that it only shows 130k points until you disable ad blocker but i have iphone so not sure how to even disable ad blocker on that. Did you have any issues with such problems?

        • I had an existing account with ANZ already which was tied to a homeloan. Progress saver looks like a great option; ozbargainers will fight tooth and nail for every dollar when it comes to bank fees so they can blow it all on a impulse purchase.

UK huh? I'll be in London over NYE so i'm pretty stoked for that. My CC approval took about 1 month from the time I submitted my application. Again, as I mentioned before, I am probably an outlier when it comes to the length of applications. I am not sure how your phone is configured but I did not have any issues seeing the 160k point offer - if in doubt, ask the ANZ CC team and they should assist you.

Don't stress too much about it, always be on the look out for more great CC deals!

    • +2

Welcome to the world of credit card burn and churn. I'd recommend you open the ANZ Progress Saver account as there is a monthly fee of $5 with the Access Advantage.

      • +1

I did see the $5 monthly fee which i wasn't keen on so your option is better. And the Progress Saver is still applicable for the CC offer correct? And thanks for the welcome, it's a new world for me but hopefully can make it work

        • Yeh, i did the progress saver and set up the app, then applied for the cc through the ad in the app. The ID step was annoying, they wanted me to go into the branch, then they accidently sent another email later asking me to confirm my ID online which I ignored. Then I had to send proof of income and fill out a weekly budget breakdown, and then answer a call and have an interviewer ask me about my budget breakdown lol. Along the way I had issues logging into the app and needed to call up for a telecode. PATA

Other promotions have been simpler. Just remember to pay your statement before interest and its all good. Most people also cancel before the next year to avoid a full annual fee with no cashback.

Most people also cancel as soon as their qantas points hit their account so they can restart the waiting period to be eligible again sooner.

You might want to keep it open to use the international travel insurance

          • @MaccDogg: Thanks for your help. Did you set up a FF account prior? And was it the Qantas one?
