  • Would these be good to replace aging neon lights?

If you mean a tube fluoro, i was thinking the same thing, and the answer is probably not.
It screws into a regular Edison socket, but just looks garbage, which I guess is why they've labelled it as being for the garage.

I was tempted to buy one of these lights a while back. There are just too many variants and reviews were too mixed for me.

I ended up going with one of these Osram lights from Bunnings and it's been great for a small 2 car garage. I believe there are even higher wattage ones also.

Wow i never knew those existed. There is a warm white version: https://www.bunnings.com.au/osram-27w-2430lm-warm-white-led-…

Those are the highest wattage Osrams they have. There are also those Phillips UFO lights to also consider.

Thanks for linking that one you did as i would like to get a bit more lighting oomph into my garage. It has nine MR16 but they are a bit so so even with the brightest Phillips LED i could find. This big wattage globes are probably enough to justify going to batten fittings.

        • The downside of bulb style in a garage, you often shadow the workspace.. a long flouro style, will overcome some of that. As will more bulbs..

6,000k of harsh blue/white light goodness. Love the comparison between this and a 4,000k neutral white (very good colour temperature BTW for commercial situations) "incandescent bulb" fluorescent tube…

Then they add in the description "6500k eye friendly" - not.

I thought it is a spinning fidget at first.

  • I've got 2 downlights in the garage which aren't great, anybody has suggestions for something that goes into those cutouts?

      Plaster, and new lights :P

      • Haha, 'tis the way.

Any chance of discount for motion sensor lights ? Thanks

    • Yep +1 from me. I thought these were the motion sensor ones which is what you want in your garage when your arms are full.
