Looks like a decent deal on this tool box if you are already invested into the Tstak storage solution.
Marked down by 20%. Stock availability has been pretty scarce on Amazon for these recently

Got one myself to store the multitool along with the various blade attachments and the 1/4 sheet sander I recently added to my tool collection

    idk, $45 for a box?
if it had the tools in it - for sure…butttt…

    • +5

How about you check out the price of toolboxes on bunnings website?
Anything below 50 bucks are pretty ordinary stuff.
Sure you can get a Craftright toolbox for 7 bucks and it will do the job but they are made of thin cheap plastic.
It's a bit silly saying things like "$45 for a box" talking about a product designed and marketed towards the premium end. This probably isn't for you then.

It's just a shame that, still, for $45 that box looks ubertacky and if it wasn't for your assurance of its premiumness, I would think it's crap and only tries hard to look like it's up to scratch. Hence I wouldn't order it without seeing it first somewhere.

        • Not sure what you mean by "ubertacky" looks fine to me.
I got this as part of the drill/driver kit I purchased and it is solidly built. dual handle is a nice touch too.
I wouldn't feel comfortable paying 80-90 bucks but for $40 after cashback is a pretty good deal.

I remember looking for a storage box. I was asking the person at Bunnings which brand/box they would recommend. The employee comically said the Craftright boxes are great for keeping bras in. We had a good chuckle and I ended up buying the AEG tool boxes. Have never looked back.

    • I agree.
To be fair, I have the one in this deal, came with a tool, and it's a pretty good medium-duty box. I would buy another one but not for this price.
A bigger version of this has been much cheaper in Bunnings and Sydneytools a couple of times: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505748

If you think $45 for a box is expensive, don't look at the ToughSystem, newer & supersede this system and for the same size, i think more than twice this price.

    • What's the appeal though

      • +2

If you work in the trades or even a DIYer, robust heavy duty containers are a must, to store and transport your equipment and consumables.

Broken containers are going to give you a very bad day.

ToughSystem boxes are larger, with thicker plastic though.
Milwaukee Packout boxes are bloody expensive too.

    • I'm not sure if ToughSystem supersedes this, I think it's just a heavy-duty lineup, and this one is medium duty.
I have both a ThoughSystem and TSTAK, and TS is MUCH heavier. Weighs more than the tools inside - for the small box. So I wouldn't consider getting TS lineup unless the nature of my work allowed me to use a trolly to move them around.
The TS is more like PeliCase - you can just abuse them, but you pay the price in weight.

Time to get another Tstak box. Thanks OP

So far I've only used my tools at home & have hung them with these
    https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKnHr5G

    & my batteries with these
    https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0V7tDc

The only thing to remember is how to remove the tool i.e. reciprocating saw vs. a drill the battery and therefore mount is oriented a different way.

Vertically mounted a fast charger & by chance found a yellow & black powerboard at Bunnings
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/cordtech-4-outlet-workshop-power…

    All rigged onto rack-it shelving

    • I've also got Rack-It shelving. It would be great if you could post a photo of your setup.

here you go as-is! I could make it prettier but a raw image is a good one. I do try to keep the bench clear but you know life happens. There's a whole bunch of stuff that needs to go to hard rubbish like boxes, toys, mattresses, etc! can't wait for it to come around!

I took everything out of my garage, then put shelving down both sides as far/high I could go.

I attached those tool/battery holders and powerboard onto the mdf, and the charger itself mounted to the rack-it horizontal beam thingy (above/to the right of the dewalt bag). The big stuff like the blower is hanging on rack-it mounting. I've got a rotary hammer which isnt mounted, just need to make an offset because the battery is super deep in the tool. I've also got a circular saw and still figuring out how to mount it given its shape lol.

  • Spent nearly an hour in Bunning browsing toolboxes as its a big decision for me! Sure, super cheaper stuff at $7 but also broken ones on the shelves where plastic flaps used instead of metal, or key plastic lugs had broken meaning one flap didn't work. These high-end boxes like Milwukie, AEG and DeWalt were at least $100+ and are what the cheaper ones are all copying.

    • Exactly right. I also have a Stanley Toolbox which I paid 35 bucks or something like that a few years back. While it's ok, if I could go back I would pay more and get something better.
By comparison $40 for this is totally worth it.
Been watching for a deal on tstak deep Toolbox but so far no luck. Would be handy to store bigger tools like my circular saw.

      • I have seen a couple of Bunnings in VIC clearing out various dewalt boxes at half price. Mostly tstak but also the toughsystem 2. You can drop by and try your luck but I reckon they should fly out pretty fast.

  • I own these 3 boxes.

    • one for my lunch box
    • one for battery storages ; and
    • one for nuclear briefcase.
