FAQ:
People often inquire about snails exploding in population when introduced to a tank, but there is a bit of a misconception with this: Snails will propagate until they reach an equilibrium with the food available for them in the tank. If you add snails and their population explodes, it means there is tones of food (usually left over fish food) for them to eat, and they are eating it. In other words: Doing their job. Once the food is gone, their population will reduce to enough snails that can survive on how much food is left after your fish are done with it. If they still keep up a massive population, that usually means you are feeding your fish too much.

Postage:
Snails are super resilient to postage issues, so much so we can send them in letters and 99% of the time there is no issue. We do replace or refund fully if there are any issues with your order as well anyway.

I can't seem to think off a good pun in reply…

Snail mail can be pretty fast if you are willing to shell out for it.

        • +6

Remember to select the the 'Express-cargot' in the mail delivery options :P

      • Can you think of a reply to this:

'Snails are super resilient to postage issues, …'

        What about temperature issues?

Why do you repeatedly ignore animal welfare considerations and basic seller obligations, by selling tropical species to buyers living in non-tropical regions of Australia (i.e. approximately half of the country, including all of Victoria and Tasmania)?

Are you familiar with the definition of the word morals?

      still faster than fastway

  • really curious about how these snails actually mailed? is there a special mailing container?

        • If they do we refund or replace no problem! Just send us a message.

          • @Brandingo: All good it my risk to take, I get express next time was only a few bucks

            • @liveish: If you do, feel free to leave a note, we will add a few snails in extra for you for free no problem :)

I have ordered plants & glass shrimp from them,
in term of packing - they know what they're doing. Double wall heat sealed bags. Plants wither some of their leafs & all shrimp survived 2 working days delivery.

Didn't think I'd be considering buying snails online today.

  • Are these guys okay for an outside pond? They're not going to run away on me are they?

    • Yeah they were fine in my pond in Adelaide. They stay in the water

  • What is better for cleaning algae in my fish tank, snails, shrimp or get both?

    • I would recommend a few of both. The more varied your ecosystem the better. What exactly are you wanting to remove? Neither eat all the algae out there but they will help in different ways.

      • I have a small tank with guppies and swordtails at the moment, the tank was moved to an area in the house with more light and I seem to be getting more algae growth.

and I seem to be getting more algae growth.

We just add a half cup of Pine O Clean each month and that keeps the tank clean…

        • They can help a bit, but if you have a small tank; probably the sure-fire way to solve all your issues is to increase the tank and filter size.

Larger tanks and stronger filters solve 99% of problems with beginner fish keepers, small tanks, although they seem simple, are actually much harder to care for than larger ones (by larger I mean ~40+ Liters, double the standard 20L small tanks).

This is the same sort of thing with goldfish: Touted as the basic fish, but IRL hard to take care of properly.

Your issue is likely that you have too many fish for your water volume and filter strength. Nothing will solve that but removing fish or increasing tank size unfortunately, but whatever you decide a few snails and shrimp never hurt.

  • Can you get the shrimp with $3 shipping?….

    • No, they need to be sent by express post for $12.
