Think this is the best price since launch on a 3070
What do you think? Card doesn't look amazing but I think Colorful is a decent brand

Colorful have been around for a loooong time and even though they may seem cheap or cheaply made, they are quality and will last a long time. Specs aren't always high like others but you can simply overclock to match.
    Nice find OP!

    • +1

First time I am hearing about them tho. I had never found their GPUs at Pc Case Gear or MWave while I was buying the 1080 and 980ti back in the day

      • +1

They pre-date those models by a decade+. They were making cards (forget the model name) that had 500MB vrams and earlier lol. I'm a dinosaur lmao!!
You can find their cards on ebay sometimes, so it's worth checking out for a laugh or curiosity. A lot of brands have merged with others but they have been flying solo for all these years

        • Thats really cool to know. Id definitely check them out in the future.

          Are they reliable in general?

I know that EVGA and Gigabyte keep having issues. And MSI too this generation

          • +1

@HumbleCat: From previous experience, i've found them to be VERY reliable and last waaaay past the 'usual' expirary date. Drivers are always decent, heat has never been an issue for them.
However, saying that, they don't factory oc their cards. So depending on how hard you push them, they should not fault.
Just pulled an old card of theirs before xmas from 20yrs ago. 128MB vram lmao only useful for movies and youtube now but that's how long they've been around for.

I have RTX 2080, should I change with this?

    • +9

Upto you - it won't be a big jump, but the raytracing is a good jump if you are looking for that (efficiency wise).

Honestly might be worth hodling for a 3080 instead.

    • Yes if you don't like money and need 2% faster.

      • +4

3070 is at least 20% faster.

      • +1

Where did you get that stat from mate?

    • +3

From a "bargain" perspective, no. Spend money for a very marginal upgrade.

    • +7

I wouldn't. Wait a few months for next gen. If you are desperate then go for 3080 12gb, 3080 ti or 6800xt.

      • +1

Surely even if next gen is only a few months away you are looking at a year wait for the good deals to come out?

        • It will significantly lower the price of current gen stuff on release

        • +1

Hopefully nVidia sticks with releasing their cards at retail price (like they did in 2020). Might see a repeat of then, cheap at start then starts to skyrocket.

This is still above RRP for a 3070, after all. Although weirdly Australia seems to be among the cheapest prices in the world for GPUs at the moment. Looking at US sites they're still $700US + tax there. So who knows what will happen on release.

    • I would look at a 3080. 3070 is a marginal upgrade over a 2080 (it's on par with a 2080 Ti).

    • +1

Only about 15-20% boost in perf.

    • I have a 1080 MSI Gaming X and I am not upgrading.

Already have every game running on max on 1440p and G Sync on with 3 less frames to prevent input lag.

Just wait for the 4 series and jump then.

  • Meant to have free postage and 12% off! but doesn't. Whats the deal here?
also 2080 to 3070 is the upgrade i did, honestly wont notice the rasterization increase ( raw frames ) rtx and dlss is slightly better. If you can get good money for your 2080 and the upgrade is little out of pocket, there is no harm. I sold my 2080 peak covid got 850 and got a 3070 delivered on release for 980

  • +10

The moment I lose interest they drop some more. I guess it's a collective sentiment.

Honestly who wants to pay $500 for GTX 1080 performance in 2022. $836 for 2080ti equivalent is far better though I'll admit. But for gaming $800 on the graphics card alone is insane for most people.

Trash cards like RX 6600 and 3060 should be sub $400

    • +4

For gaming it makes no sense to spend more then $800 on gpu alone when new consoles are 850, however the gpu prices have crept up since NVIDIA and the like know gamers will pay stupid money for it , top tier cards were over 1k in the past

      • +2

Consoles are only 750 not 850

        • +1

True and if you can find stock on a PS5

        • Damn, even cheaper !

      • new consoles are 850

You would have to pay me $850 to play an FPS with a trackpad…

        • +1

Good news is that consoles use analog stick and not trackpad for aiming.

Works pretty well but obviously if you haven't done it before you are going to be trash switching to it from a mouse as it is very different you're basically starting from scratch again.

          • +1

            @Agret:

Good news is that consoles use analog stick

Still nowhere near the speed and accuracy of a keyboard and mouse…

        • +2

You can plug a KB and Mouse into consoles these days.

          • +2

@itsme56: Yes you can but only a very small handful of games support it. Can't use it on Overwatch or Rainbow Six Siege. Can use it for Halo Infinite & Fortnite though.

Need to get one of the classic third party adapters to emulate a gamepad with your keyboard mouse for the majority of titles still.

      • When the GTX 1080 was top tier I got mine for $950 at centrecom. Wasn't on sale either. Charging over $1200 for the 3080 and over $1800 for the 3090 is just insane.

      • -1

Console and PC gaming aren't comparable in the slightest.

      • +1

A 3070 is way more powerful than the Series X and PS5.

    • -2

The recent 3060 Ti deals for around $680-$700 are probably the best value GPU's at the moment. Anything under that is garbage in 2022. Everything over the Ti isn't a great price to performance ratio at current prices.

    • +3

Trash cards like RX 6600 and 3060

Since when are these trash? XX60 cards are the most popular tier

    • Back when 1080 was released, it was around $1100-1200

I got mine for like $800 brand new from Futu Online I think, within 2-3 months of release.

And since then been running that. Didnt look at the 2xxx series cards but 3xxx series are so inflated in price. I am just chilling for 4xxx series.

3060 isnt a bad card at all. Just needs to be sub $400 like you said so people can build and game at 1080p max settings or 1440p medium settings.

      • Exactly. $800 brand new in 2016 compared to $520 RX6600 in 2022. Boy are we still getting ripped off, no justification for it now crypto demand has dropped.

  • This is nuts !!! 3070 for around $800 only!!! Will we see a good 3070 prebuilt deal from BPC soon?

    • +2

The 3080 deal with a Ryzen 5600x is a good deal, it was $1888

  • Wait for new gen, prices will drop more ?

  • -1

    HODL!

    • +1

Been HODL'ing since 2019. I miss video games.

      • it is possible to game on an igpu, however unnatural…

        • +1

Nvidia Geforce cloud is free to try out in Australia. Can use that with iGPU.

It was pretty fun with ipad and iphone

Make sure to give it a try before they make all tiers paid.

  • +1

I would say for building a new system it would be great to wait for new gen and build on 3070ti or 3080 depending on the budget

upgrade is always different and depends on how much you can get for current components

  • -2

Great deal for a BNIB. I just paid $700 for a "used" (Jan 2021) EVGA 3070 FTW3 with FHR.

I sold my 1080ti for $450 in 10 mins on marketplace. I went a +$250 upgrade. Ideally I wanted a 3080 but out of budget, well changeover would of been a LOT more.

My EVGA 1080ti served me very well, 4 years of solid 1440p gaming, Could have still kept it. If someone can sell an old card cheap enough on marketplace this deal might be worth the changeover, or wait until 4 series or new amd series.

Give my old beasty 1080ti a like:

    • I’ve got a GTX1070 at the moment that I’ve had for 5-6 years, I probably won’t go the 3080 but I’m keen on a 3070. Would it be worth paying $100-$200 more for the ti over the normal ?

      • +2

Probably not worth it unless you can get it cheaper the 3070 non-Ti is 2x the 1070 performance. The Ti is closer to the 3070 than it is a 3080. Maybe if your gaming in 4K the ti might help with faster VRAM still 8 gb but then you might want to consider a 3080

    • +1

Why sell your 1080ti for such a low price?

Could have just as easily sold it for $550-600…

      • +3

Tough to get that sorta pricing on marketplace. Can get it on eBay but then need to deal with 10% fees, unscrupulous buyers, postage scams etc.

      • +1

Goodluck getting $550 on marketplace, a few have been sitting for weeks.

  • Got a Palit RTX3070 non LHR for this price last year. Prices have fallen indeed

    • -7

      yeah non-LHR the best.

  • +1

Great to see this pricing. Wonder what they will bottom out at.

  • -1

BEWARE OF REFURB MINING CARD. IT'S REPORTED CHINESE CUSTOMS SEIZED 5820 SUSPICIOUS XFX GRAPHIC CARD FROM OVERSEAS TO BE REPACKAGED AND RESOLD RECENTLY

    • Really interesting! I could see some big operations to recycle these, there are thousands of minijh cards being dismantled right now I imagine

    • +2

      nice where can i buy

  • hodling for 308012gb

    • Cringe

  • Man this is getting tempting. I'm sitting on a R5 3600 / 2060 super combo and if I could get $500 for the 2060S this would be a sweet upgrade. I'm not sure they are holding that much value anymore.

I really want a 3080 but my 650w psu would probably need an upgrade as well(PSU Calculator says ill need 530 watts).

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    • Wait for ps5 pro 🤣🤣🤣

  • I've got a 1080Ti Asus ROG strix 11gb.
Is this card like 2/3x better? Or like 50%? I don't need Ray tracing my ps5 is enough but will it play 120fps 4k max settings?

    • It's only 37% faster than 1080ti. So a poor upgrade.

My GTX 560 to GTX 970 upgrade was 300%. The 3070 only has 8GB ram. The 11GB 1080ti might even outlive it. In 2026 the 3070 might stutter in games while the 1080ti wouldn't.

      • Does nvidia have plans on stopping the production of drivers for the 10series cards? I read in forums that the 9series have stopped or are going to stop soon. So that would impact the life/longevity of the 10series cards.
Similar to win7 having no updates now and new cards require win10 just to have the drivers

      • -2

I'm sorry but are you saying that a 1080ti is a better card than a 3070? lol

        • Nope try rereading my comment. I'm saying it is a poor increase in performance compared to last gens

          • @Jimmy77: What about this?

In 2026 the 3070 might stutter in games while the 1080ti wouldn't.

That would indicate to me that you're saying the 1080ti is a better card to own in 2026 than the 3070, let alone in 2022.

            • @MrFunSocks: The 1080ti has 11GB vram the 3070 only has 8gb. That's why the 3070 will stutter before 1080ti. What's so hard to comprehend?

The GTX 970 fills it's 3.5GB well before it's rasterization limitations are reached. 3070 will be the same in 2026.Kapiche?

              • -1

@Jimmy77: If only the amount of VRAM was all that mattered.

    • I don't need Ray tracing my ps5 is enough but will it play 120fps 4k max settings?

You're not getting that on any AAA game out of a 3070, probably not even a 3080 or 3090.

      • Mah pee ess for plays @ 120fps 4key

  • Did anyone buy one of these? How is the build quality/temps? I've heard that some of colourful's lower end cards can run a bit hot and I can't find details for this specific card online.
