BigW - Cashback is ineligible for purchases made with any gift card as a payment method

  • Is the cap per account or per transaction?

    • Per SB account.

  • +1

FYI - the Big W upsized has no minimum spend required, unlike previous deals where to get 20% cashback, the cart total had to be $150+

This has to be the highest so far

  • Catch gift card is eligible for cashback now? Didn't mention in the Don'ts

    • Unfortunately, it is still not eligible.
Catch doesn't approve payment on orders using Gift Cards.

      • Can you confirm if partial GC payment make the full transaction ineligible?

        • +1

It is likely to invalidate Cashback regardless.
          I would advise against it.

  • +9

Is it just the consoles that are excluded or are the console games excluded too?

    • Would love to know this as well!

    • @gotyourback

If gaming is eligible, could you clarify for gaming pre-orders too, please. Thanks.

      • So much for switch sports hope

    • I'm awaiting confirmation on this now.

Worst case, the Catch flash sale tonight will be eligible for games.

    • +2

Recieved confirmation - no Cashback on Games at Big W.

      Cheers!

      • That's disappointing

      • Thankyou for clarifying. That's a big change for the worse. Please work hard to get that back to consoles only!

  • +12

"Cashback is not eligible on Apple, Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch or Dyson products"

Does that also mean games are excluded from cashback aswell? Can someone clarify?

  • +1

Stack with the Thomas the train clearance for massive savings:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/692061

    • Is he not a tank engine anymore?

    • +2

Problem with BigW is that if you do online order the stock will be gone with clearance items, by the time someone goes out to pick it, so you lose the item AND the cash back.

This has happened to me a few times.

Better to use it on items that dont get discounted too much or are more likely to have plenty of stock.

      • Yeap got me too

  • -6

SB is a joke, all those big cashbacks I always got rejected.

    • +2

Hi @siuol, could you kindly send me a DM so I can assist with any issues you might have?

      Cheers!

  • What happens if BIG W cancel one or more items in your order? Does that mean you won’t qualify for cashback for the whole transaction?

    • +1

Obviously as it’s based on what you spend, so things you don’t purchase won’t be getting any cashback.

    • +1

No minimum spend so the rest of the transaction won't get affected

    • I'd also like to know this @gotyourback? If BigW cancel one of the items and refunds it, will the rest of the order still qualify for cashback?

      • +4

It should update your Cashback value, or remove the item line that is cancelled.
If you entire order is invalidated, reach out to me and I'll help sort it out.

        • thanks!

  • +13

SB doesnt work for me half the time. I spent 100 on one of their liquorland cashback offer to get around 25 cashback. I saw tracked cashback at regular 3 percent. Queried them, got a response saying 3 % is the right amount.
    I cancelled the purchase.
A week later, SB came back saying it was their fault and they are ok to track the right amount.
All this for zero value for me. Including this comment.
I am saying no to SB.

    • +11

That’s why I avoid SB at all costs and use Cashrewards exclusively. SB are more happy to use all tricks to avoid paying cashback.

    • Hi both, just a few comments above this I've said this.
Please send me a DM if you need assistance.

      Thanks!

      • -2

You still don't get it, that "dm me" process is a huge hassle and risk to us. What if we don't conveniently get your attention on ozb?

SB remains shady AF until you stop the internal cloaks and daggers and very strangely consistent "glitches" on elevated cashback promotions.

        • +6

Mate I'm not sure what more I can do for you then.
I'm an OzBargain store rep. It's my job.

I can't initiate conversations as a store account, so asking someone to send me a DM is the only way I can help out.

Whenever there's an error, I've always done my best to sort it out asap.
I'd estimate that roughly 95% of customer that reach out to me for help will walk away with a positive outcome.
There will always a few that I can't help as it's out of my hands.

As for your final comments - it's your opinion, which you're entitled to.
I don't know what "cloaks and daggers" you're referring to, but if there's an issue we've always fixed it.

Tech glitches are frustrating and unfortunate, but it's nearly unavoidable in the industry we work in.

A little understanding goes a long way here & just reaching out to me for help isn't the most strenuous task.

          • +1

@gotyourback: Personally I'm glad you are available to be reached out to, it would be significantly "shadier" if there was just radio silence - so thanks GYB!!

        • Cashreward fan boy I pressume?

  • Can I make 2 separate transaction? $60 and $90 and still get the max cashback at $30?

    • Daresay as per usual, you would only be able to use one per day!

      • at most the low value one will get tracked… LoL

  • Would it work Bigw Canvas printing?

    • Same question @gotyourback - Specifically, the domain is bigwphotos.com.au

      • Maybe order via the Shopback Android app and take screen shots, so it should still track.

      • Affiliate marketing requires you to stay within a same domain. So I believe, it won’t track as you will be redirected to another domain.

    • +1

There is no cashback on BigWphotos

    • +1

Different domain as mentioned by mountains.
This will not register for Commission/Cashback payments.

  • Time to stock up on Lego!

  • +2

Here is the direct link to the clearance section sorted from cheapest: https://www.bigw.com.au/c/2?sort=price-asc&filter%5BticketLa…

  • Is that mean I can pay by Woolworth dollars?

    • I do not believe so.
      It will invalidate Cashback.

  • I am just wondering if Catch: 20% Cashback ($30 Cap, 6pm-10pm AEST) applies to purchase Catch Connect Mobile Plans?

    • As mentioned in the Original Post

Cashback not applicable for Catch Connect purchases & Apple products

  • +3

Why does Ozbargain get so excited with Catch sales and cashback.
Just curious to know what is everyone buying

    • +1

Yeah the shipping always kills it for me.

I guess if you're subscribed to that VIP service thing you could use it like Amazon for usual household goods and the like though.

  • So how much do I need to spend for $30 Cashback ?

  • Hmm so $100 spend right?

  • +1

Wouldn’t it be $110 as it doesn’t include gst

  • -1

    Hi All,

Can I use catch cash back to get PS5 Elden ring ?

    Thanks

    • Cashback not eligible if it’s paid through store credit or gift card

      • It’s not gift card I’ll pay buy debit card
But can I still buy PS5 Elden ring from catch and review cash back?

        • Yes, you can earn Cashback on PS5 games through Catch.

  • +1

I just completed my purchase - oddly enough the Shopback chrome extension did not register any cashback at all. You can't even search for it in the extension. I purchased a PS4 game. I'll be surprised if it goes through as I have terrible luck with Shopback when there's a "deal" e.g. Liquorland and First Choice cashbacks.

    • Ahh shit, sad to hear that it didn’t work
But thanks for letting us know, I was gonna get a PS5 Elden ring

    • Same here. try the app - altho it's ridiculously slow atm….shopback can't handle the traffic.

    • Playstation games are not included.

  • +2

BIG W is currently offline for scheduled maintenance and expect to be back online very soon. —-Ozbargain POWER!

    • -1

Believe me its like finding a needle in a haystack a bargain there .
      But its there :)

  • +3

    BigW website sooo slow.

    • -1

I think it's Shopback. If you don't go through Shopback, it's alright. I was just gonna complain, trying to order via Shopback app. wondering if I should keep trying wasting my time…

  • +2

GG BIG W site down for me

  • +3

    @GotYourBack

Come on mate.. It's Sunday i guess but really need that confirmation whether games or just consoles are excluded. We're used to it being consoles only.

  • +2

When click from SB to BigW website, the SB icon on the tool bar didn't even show BigW??? Not activated yet for the 30% CB?

  • Big W through SB app won't allow items to be added to basket. Accessing straight to the BigW website works fine. Anyone having the same issue?

    • Im having the same issues

      • Guessing there is not going to be much 30% cashback in that case. Thanks for confirming.

        • What worked for me was adding in wishlist and then add in cart

  • Is the website down?

  • Thanks Shopback, I picked up 40 items to help me through quarantine and an upcoming winter with a couple of toddlers!

    • any suggestions for some good items for quarantine?

      • With or without kids?!

      • First Readers books: $1.75
        D.T. Brown garden seedlings: $2
Disney Frozen 2 Colouring Adventures: $2 (there is a whole section for $2 activity books)

  • Has anyone received tracking for their Big W order?

    • Yup, just received cashback confirmation on my laundry detergent

      • +2

Okay. Am still waiting for mine to track & it’s been over an hour…

        • I got mine as well. all tracked.

        • +1

Same here, especially with the extension not showing up with green status making me nervous.

Check your cashback history on Shopback site. Mine is showing there as pending but tracking email hasn't come through up yet.

          • @twig: Nope, there's nothing showing in my cashback history.

  • +2

Shopback still not showing in the toolbar for the Big W site.

Would it still be safe to buy if getting redirected from the Shopback website which shows 30% or is everyone just holding off on purchases?

    • I'm getting the same issue, also wondering

    • Works for me via the ShopBack app

    • +2

Big W does not allow for Chrome Extensions to be active on their website.
This will not impact your tracking if you've clicked from our ShopBack Website, you simply cannot activate the Extension on their site.

      Cheers!

      • Thanks @gotyourback, how long does it take for it to show up under cashback activity after purchasing?

        • Typically a few hours, but sometimes tracking can take up to 48 hours.
Depending on how long the brand takes to report the transaction back to our system :)

  • @gotyourback, is capped at $30 per SB account?
