what price "should" this be at? RRP etc etc.

    • +4

$589 AUD MSRP according to this article by Kotaku

      • +7

Inflated "2021 MSRP". In a normal market the MSRP would probably be the same as the 3060 - $329 USD / $529 AUD

  • +12

It is a pretty good price, but prices are going to drop further so unless you need right now. I'd hold.

    • +4

I believe it is spelled hodl.

  • +1

Love these price drops. Getting close now.

  • +1

Very good price. AMD don't restrict the hashrate as well, unlike nVidia.

    • +3

I think that was because the nvidia cards when unrestricted have a higher hashrate than the amd cards right?
that being said, if I go to buy a new card (which I will soon as I'm on a 1050ti), even though it is purely for gaming, it would be nice to have the option to mine something if it was worthwhile while I am at work, asleep or otherwise not gaming.

Hell, even if it was just to pay back the price of the upgrade or to buy some games, it would be nice.

It's not the person mining with their one card in its downtime that's the problem, it's those with massive rigs, and while nvidia probably did need to do something such as LHR to try and get cards into the hands of gamers, given they couldn't seem to beat the bots, it is unfortunate for the one card owner.

      • meh they're still small compared to industrial miners that buy by the plane load

its just the market doing its thing people always chase prices when they pump

        ROI isn't even half bad

still $1.46/day on a rx 480 8gb, they're some that just sold on ebay for $200, that's less than 6 mo ROI lol

during 2018/19 it was it was around $0.25/day

      • +1

Be careful, that's how it starts haha. That was my reasoning to dabble in cryptocurrencies. I had a pretty high end graphics card back in 2013, I started mining. Now 8 years later, 95% of my net worth is in cryptocurrencies and I can retired (but haven't yet because I still like my day job) lol.

That's how the crypto bug bites ya :)

  • nice price

  • +4

Facebook marketplace is flooded with graphics cards and even entire mining crypto rigs but at prices that make new look good value still! The crash is overdue as retail is now better value than used (and by used some are >5years old or more) ~ So hold, hold hold… whats wrong with this marketplace?

    • +4

i tried to buy from marketplace.. but the used one expect much more than new so.. i hodl

    • Ya saw that. Either they will sell it at lower than the asking price or there will always be plenty of people who does not know anything.

    • +5

Prices are in a state of transition. The used market hasn’t been keeping up with the rapidly dropping GPU prices. Let it settle if you’re looking to pick up a second hand graphics card

      • +2

They know, they're just trying it on…

    • +1

Just send them a link of brand new for cheaper
All these miners that are late to the party… no ROI and now they can't sell the cards for the price they paid for them.

      • did that.. they said it is a sale item.. and different brand e.g asus vs asrock vs msi

        • +3

If it's not the same model, their point is legitimate. Just buy this one if you think it's a good deal.

      • +1

Love how they add "Never mined" in the description. Thats a 90% indicator that they have mined with it!

        • +1

Never been redlined or drifted. One female owner.

          • @Agret: Always garaged and log book serviced at scorptec

    • +2

I just sold a RX5500XT 4GB for $280 on ebay :) i could of got $400+ for it around Christmas 2021 After postage and ebay fee's i'll be lucky to walk away with $220 ($38 ebay seller FEEs are a killer)

    • -3

Then just dont buy from them and stop your keyboard whinging?

      • i was selling.. not buying… anyways just pointing out price drops on used cards

  • Is this or 3060 with dlss better for 1440p? I can't go any higher due to budget and psu constraint.

    • +6

Pretty sure this card is powerful enough to pump frames out at 1440p full res, without the need for DLSS.

Personally I'd go this but it's subjective.

    • +2

AMD has RSR and FSR 2.0 are when you need them if you find 1440p on something like cyperpunk is not good enough.. :) Either way the 6600XT is a faster card while using less power

      • The RSR and FSR 2 are comparable to DLSS at 4K, but what about 1440P? I think DLSS still wins here.

        • DLSS has issues too.. it can impose ghosting in the image… it is the better option out of the two but neither FSR2 or DLSS are as good as native rez and the 6600XT give you that more then the 3060 does… either card will be low/mid range at the end of the year..

I'm buying myself a 7600XT at the end of the year .. its supposed to be as fast as a RTX3090 ($2000 card) :) but use way less power and will be priced low because its the 6600XT replacement product

  • I think this is a good price to get in.

I have a RTX 3070 and GTX 1660 Ti and even I am tempted! Even if you get a better deal, it may only be slightly lesser before prices go up again.

    • mining ser?

    • +1

What makes you think prices will increase again?

    • Why haven't you sold the 1660ti? Do you plan to SLI it with the 3070?

      • Running dual monitors and the occasional mining with a combined 91 MH/s hashrate. Plus the 1660 ti was a gift.

  • -5

let the fools buy them up. I for one would regret spending that much on an asrock

    • why ser? asrock not good?

      • -3

They are reputed as a bottom tier AIB. Like Daewoo is with cars. I actually bought one of their motherboards once and had many stability issues

    • It's OK, plenty of Chinese cards available for you.

I'll take a card like Asrock/Asus from Taiwan anyday.

    • +2

Have the 6600 version and also tried the XFX and Sapphire, they're all exactly the same performance and cooling wise.
The 6600 series are such efficient chips you could slap a single slot, single fan cooler on it and still wont have an issue.

Feel free to waste your money on something with more RGB or a brand name - me i'll have the extra dollars in my pocket

      • All the brands cost the same.. either in 6600XT or 6600 non XT :) some high end versions cost more but are 100% aesthetics pretty much like the Asus Strix or MSI Gaming X

  • is the only reason why this more expensive than the other priced 6600 xt is because it has a 3rd fan and its longer?

  • Is this a price error? It shows 729 for me.

    • Looks the sale has finished

      • Bugger. Wish I checked OzB earlier. Good price.

  • +2

Looks like the sale is over. Don't know why they think that $729 is an acceptable price rn when you can get 3060 ti's in the high $700's these days.

    • Probably their supplier at fault rather than the store markup.

  • Sale is back on
