Not quite the same but just picked 10x CR2032 for $2 from Supercheap Auto - credit to mtg

    • i have used only 2 of them since that deal

  • +1

Great deal, about time I changed my car key battery. Always handy to have a couple in the cupboard.

    • Charge your battery also posion your enemy

  • +3

Coles are currently clearing out their 2032 batteries in single, double and quad packs for similar pricing

    • Their 'NRG' Chinese made house brand, I believe.

  • +1

    Woolies too

  • Any LR44 batteries?? Need a couple for a scale I use for baking

  • Seen a few button batteries on sale at woolies the last 2 weeks as well.
Quite cheap. Some about 75% off.

  • +11

I ordered these ones. Really felt bad after seeing how big a box they sent 2 batteries in :( I will buy from the local store now when they are on sale. May not be an OZB thing to do, but something for the nature.

    • +2

Agreed. I got a few last time and the box was massive. Also felt wasteful to me.

    • They normally send small items in padded mailers, so I wonder if it's a safety thing (i.e. they only send batteries in boxes).

      • +1

        Thats what even I assumed!

      • +3

The padded mailers are worse for the environment i think. theyre full of plastic and theyre harder to reuse cause of their shape. The boxes i can throw into the compost bin (i dont grow food), use them for storage, or for mailing stuff off.

        • +1

You can return the padded envelopes (or anything plastic that can be squished, including bubblewrap) to stores like Woolies for REDcycling, but I agree with you, the cardboard box is ultimately better overall.

    • I love the big boxes because i can reuse them for storage. The plastic mailers are the worst and go straight into the bin.

      • Problem is I have shopped online enough that these boxes now directly goto recycle bin as I have enough of them. They are practically still almost brand new. I am not sure how effectively Australia recycles these.

        • +3

I havent got to that point yet with the boxes but im pretty sure whether i put the boxes into recycling or not theyre still better for the environment cause theyre 100% decomposable. They got rid of plastic airbags and replaced them with scrunched up paper. They need to rid of the plastic in the mailers too.

      • Take them to your nearest Redcycle bin!

    • +1

All my Amazon boxes go into the garden to keep weeds down or the compost bin after removing any packing tape/stickers

  • Please don't order just this in a delivery just because you can - it's so incredibly wasteful!

You do realise Amazon AU still do not offer the ability to group items for a single delivery run, right?

Even if you add other items in your transaction, they will be shipped as they see fit (most often in multiple runs).
They also completely ignore delivery instructions.

      • I found this help page recently when I ordered a single battery which came in a large box but only did so because I had also ordered another item the previous day and wanted to request that they were delivered together which occurred anyway without me requesting so.

Now I haven't actually seen this option as I don't normally order multiple items but the help page indicates that this is an option?

I was given this exact same link by the Amazon AU rep I spoke to last year about this issue.
The grouping option has never shown up, even when I am ordering related items such as books.

Why don't you have a look yourself? Just go to the very last page of the ordering process with multiple items.

          There is also this:

          Our fulfilment network
If your order has unrelated items such as a book, a computer and a cordless drill, they may be shipped separately, depending on where in our fulfilment network they're located.

      • +1

Even if you add other items in your transaction, they will be shipped as they see fit (most often in multiple runs).

It depends on which distribution warehouse the individual items are coming from. If it's the same warehouse, they do usually come in the same box. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, it's impossible to tell before placing the order whether different items come from different warehouses.

Damn, missed it! My kid loves these though!

The 10 pack at Supercheap Auto is $2 if you are near a store with stock:

Got em today, expiry jan 2025, these are supposed to have an expiry up to 10 years, less than 3 years is pretty disappointing.

Probably the reason for the discount.
