Found this at Bunnings late evening, store rep mentioned these came in today. Wondering if this is good deal and good price as the only difference I could find from 5 piece kit was additional blower.

        I'm curious what for?
Its not hard to create an account, just get an ABN

        • +2

Don't you need to have a business for abn?

          • +1

@LilWhat: Yes, plenty of sole traders out there though

      • No chance of that happening!

    • How is it normal? Looks like a new product to me.

      • +2

A new product but not a discounted price, just normal pricing.

        • +1

          So every Aldi special buys?

          • @Clear: Aldi special buys are limited stock + time limited so I'm not sure I'd put them into the same category exactly. The pricing on them can be pretty good sometimes. This is just a standard new addition to Bunnings catalog and doesn't have any indication that it's a special price or time limited promotion.

            • +1

@Agret: I knew that response was going to come. Normal pricing is okay when it suits. E.g. some limited offers and not always normal pricing đŸ˜‰

    Brushless or brushed?

  • +6

Not handy at all, but still feel tempted to buy lol..

  • Normal price, not a discount

I like this package purely because it comes with a decent variety of tools that you could really need from time to time. Most packages come with a bunch of tools that are similar or useless with no variety usually targeting specific trades

I saw this in my local Bunnings on the 31st of March with an orange special price label for only $99!! I couldn't believe it so I grabbed it and the roll of tape I originally came in for. I snapped a photo quickly as I was actually in a rush as I had to quickly get to my car and quickly post on Ozbargain this insane deal.

As I typed out the post and uploaded the photo, I zoomed in to get the I/N.

The orange sticker was actually for the 2 piece kit on the shelf below! When the check out person scanned the kit and said it'll be $305 or whatever, I pointed at the orange ticket within our sight and asked if it was $99. They glanced over and said "Oh, yes it is, let me change that. That'll be $105 thanks."

    Photos I took:

Bunnings didn't lose any money on that sale, even at $99, so don't feel guilty about committing retail fraud. Staff mistakes are built into the retail price.

    • +4

That's not a staff mistake. The 2 drill set is at the bottom, and there are two tickets. The sale ticket is covering the 2 piece drill set.

      • +4

It is a mistake that the cashier let him have it for 99 though

    • +1

I didn't commit any fraud. I did not obtain benifit by deception. I was under the impression that was the price and I asked an employee if the price was $99 and she said yes and processed if at this price, so don't accuse me of committing a crime please.

Although I'll admit it was my own mistaking the price that lead to the cashier making a mistake, I honestly didn't realise until I got back to the car and zoomed in on my photo.

Is it immoral to keep the item? Maybe. Is it illegal? I don't think so, but I'm not making myself out to be a Saint either.

its a starter kit for someone that doesn't use tools that often. But if you intend to use these on a daily bases dont' buy this, buy something good.

  • +3

299 is too much for this combo. That tiny sander and the blower are useless toys. For the other tools you can do better by buying individual items.

Anyway, this seems to be a promotional combo. It may go half-price eventually.

    • Is the blower strong enough to clean the dust out of a PC? I usually use a borrowed air compressor but it feels too strong and can get condensation in there.

I know it's for moving leaves and stuff but if it's small, could do the job?

      • No, please don't use anything like this blower, leaf blower, hair dryer … Static charges may kill PC components. Just buy compressed-air cans.

    • This circular saw is almost useless. Handy for cutting thin sheets at most.

      Angle grinder is pretty bad.

I think a recip saw would be more useful for most people.

      • If its the same angle grinder that came in the 4 piece kit 3 years ago, that thing is an absolute ripper for the price. Ive put mine through hell and it just keeps on trucking.

I've got Milwaukee tools for my daily drivers and I'm constantly impressed with the quality and durability of most of the Ozito gear.

      • Is the circular saw ok for cutting wood like say form pallets?

        • Pine or jarrah?

Not sure it would be very happy cutting a jarrah 1x6 but I doubt pallet lumber is true dimension.

          • @coxymla: I didn't even know Jarrah pallets were a thing! I'm talking about the free ones that get given away for me to make random projects out of! Do free Jarrah pallets exist??

            • @NoApostrophePlurals: Oh yeah, for random cheap pallets pallets you should be fine.
Jarrah pallets would be branded ones that you're meant to return.

    • That tiny sander and the blower are useless toys.

I, along with many others, are happily using the blower included in this kit.

Just because Bunnings bundles tools in a kit does not make it a bargain. The individual skins are cheap enough that Ozito 18v kits aren’t great value unless you get them on clearance discount.

    18V Hammer 13mm drill driver
    18V impact driver
    18V 150mm circular saw
    1 x 4.0Ah Battery
    1 x 2.5Ah Battery
    1 x Compact Fast Charger
    In Kit 0343185 for $199

    18V 115mm angle grinder Skin 6290474 $59

18V Detail Sander 6290475 $39.90 (keep this in my work car great little beast onsite).

    Total of above: $297.90

The blower at best is a freebie, it is absolute junk.
    18V WORKSHOP BLOWER 6290530 $39.95.

Take that out of the equation and you are paying more than the cost. Include it and you are looking at a 10% overall discount…

I use the blower to inflate my iSUP enough to fill it out to its full shape, then finish off with a manual pump. Totally worth the $40 to me.

    • Thanks for this, exactly what I'm trying to evaluate.
I'm unable to find this kit though on Bunnings website, closet thing I could find was one with angle grinder and drills for $249 (I/N: 0290078)

  • I must keep on reminding myself a bargain is only a bargain if I really, really, really need it….

Looks enviously at the big red box….

    :-(

  • No brush-less motors… Yet, so tempting!

    • -1

Brushless is more efficient (longer battery life), longer wearing, but these often matter little for DIY tools.

When was the last time you had to replace the brushes on a motor??
The brushless tools are newer designs, so some have improvements in other ways, e.g. more power, but that is not intrinsic to being brushless.
