do you know the difference between a tablet app and a blown up phone app?

        • +2

art, learning apps, photo editing etc etc.
Also solid screen for bedside netflix without need to have laptop.
These are the uses for a tablet.
Not sure why you say "just get an ipad" when ipad is a glorified tablet itself…

I wouldn't say there is much difference in most apps between mobile and tablet, but ones that are tablet exclusive are often built to function smoother on the larger screens than if they were scaled up mobile apps.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: if all you do is that I understand but considering the iPad is the same price as this and it has optimise tablet apps by the millions. what would you rather have a good tablet experience or a bad one?

            • +4

@kungfuman: As of 2021, the store features more than 1.8 million apps.
After Google purged a lot of apps from the Google Play Store, the number of apps has risen back to over 3 million Android applications.

You're sounding purely like an apple salesmen.
I don't see any reason to NOT get an android tablet if you're not already in the apple ecosystem or seeking out to use an apple exclusive app.

              • -5

@[Deactivated]: you missing the points you don't know the difference between a phone app and a tablet app. Android has 1.8 million phone apps. about 100 tablets apps. Tablet apps are a different end of the scale.

                • @kungfuman: Have you considered that if we don't know the difference between a phone app and a tablet app then it probably doesn't matter that much to most of us? Maybe we notice but don't care and/or don't notice and/or largely use apps that were designed for Android tablets i.e. might not be an issue for most Android tablet users. Clearly it's an issue for you but it's never been an issue for me and I've had several Android tablets over the years. YMMV

              • @[Deactivated]: I'm very much NOT an Apple fan-boy - Windows and Android, personally. However, in this situation I'd probably choose an iPad over an Android tablet purely because of the quality of the apps. Google may have millions of apps, but a lot of them are not tablet-friendly, and a lot of them are very basic, amateurish things.

Apple has, for better or worse, pretty much owned the tablet space for years, so tablet app developers are more likely to invest their time in apps that work on the majority of the tablets out there - which are iPads.

It's a generalisation and probably not always true, but the better quality tablet apps out there for things like art and music tend to be available for both Android and iOS, or iOS only. There is a much smaller number of apps that are Android only. Sadly it's harder to build and support Android apps because of the massive fragmentation and variation between different vendors' tablets - features, resolution, performance etc.

So yeah, if you want a tablet for basic tasks, Android could be fine, but for me I'd probably choose an iPad, even as an Android user otherwise.

Ha ha ha either deluded Apple guy or troll. Nice one.

      • -4

Apple guy that has owned nearly every android phone on teh planet o yeah sure. the problem with you android fanboys is that you can't seems to understand the difference between a tablet app and a phone app, if you look at actually tablet apps on android you will see they are optimised for a tablet and use the space in a efficiantly like you would a PC. This is why the market share on the tablet side of things is the iPad because the apps are BUILT FOR TABLETS. Android phone hold market share for phones, but tablets are another story.

        • "Owned nearly every android phone on the planet"
Feel free to compare phones you've owned to this list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Android_smartphones

@[Deactivated]: as usual too stupid to see the point. typical.

            • +4

@kungfuman: You've spouted nothing but lies to push this "apple is better" bs.
You never made any valid points.
Grow the (profanity) up and accept the fact that not everyone wants to buy the same devices as you.

              Seriously, its WEIRD.

              • @[Deactivated]: indicated where did I said it was better dumbarse?. I never ever said apple was better all I hear if you going off like a little kid screaming for a bottle. The points if you actually read them and understand them are 100% valid android is a great phone platform but it isn't a good platform for tablets that is why google them selves stoped making tablets. Because developers aren't interested in make optimised tablet android apps. Where is with iPads it forces developers to make tablets optimised apps.

                • @kungfuman: Run-on sentences say enough.
You're just rambling at this point. I hope knowing you tried to shove your apple obsession down peoples throats on ozb keeps you warm at night.

                  Goodbye.

                  • -1

@[Deactivated]: baahahahahaha wow typical ignorance from someone that knows nothing about apps. I actually have apps published on both the play store and app store do you?. So I know more than you on how the process works on android from a API and SDK level. All I hear is a loud month with no brains trying to have an argument about nothing because he likes android so much. IF YOU LEARN HOW TO READ let me know.

    • I keep hearing this stupid excuse. My overpriced iPad Pro can only run Instagram in a tiny phone-sized box with huge black bars on each side.

Meanwhile, my Samsung tablets run it in a beautiful fullscreen app.

      • -3

for starters there is no iPad app for instagram so what you downloaded was a phone app. and all android tablets do is blow up phone apps to full screen. Your still not viewing a tablet optimised app, you might as well put the tablet to you ear and call it your phone.

        • Who. Cares.

I buy an Android Tablet because it isn't an Apple product.

        • No. That's exactly the opposite of what happens actually.

What the iPad does is blow up the phone app to best fit the screen.

The Android app actually works like Windows apps. It scales the UI perfectly to fit the specific device screen with all of the interface crisp and native resolution. You should try it out to compare, as you obviously haven't yet.

  • Can you say "price difference"?

Was previously $499 with bonus 128gb MicroSd card.

Yes, I am waiting for another such deal after missing out.

      • You may still get your FE posted to you from next deal Earlier than those whobrought from last Amazon deal 😄

        • Maybe I didn't miss out after all 😆

  • +1

I wish decent ipad mini deals popped up as much as Samsung tablet deals.

    • easter isn't over yet I am sure there will be eventually alot of electronics are going on sale.

    • Yeah I haven't seen much, if anything for it.

Really wish Samsung made a 8 inch S8.

  • +2

Tab S7 FE not worth it. Has a TFT 60Hz display, at this price you better either get a good 120Hz display or an OLED.

    • I'm open to alternatives if you can share?

I looked at Lenovo P11's, but I'm not convinced with Lenovo software update frequency. Also I don't really want to buy the XiaoXin one from Aliexpress in case I have warranty, Playstore app issues, etc.

  • Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 + Pen (ZA8W0082AU) is $549 from Bing Lee if anyone is after a slightly cheaper alternative. The screen is smaller but it has twice the memory: 256GB / 8GB RAM. Coupon SAVEAPRIL

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/165183061688

It runs on a Mediatek MT6785 Helio G90T. The rest of the specifications are on BingLee website.

    • Is it up to tab s7 standards?

      • Tab S7 has

        • Qualcomm 865 vs MTK Helio
        • 45 watt fast charging, 8000mah battery vs 20 watt fast charge , 7700mah battery
        • 1600 x 2560 IPS display at 120hz vs 1200 x 2000 IPS display
        • rear camera that can record 4k 30FPS vs 1080p 30fps

        Typically priced at $750~$800

So no, the Tab 11 is more like a Tab S7 FE competitor.

I'm using a Tab S7 FE with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. Unfortunately because of the 4GB Ram limitation you won't be able to use Samsung Dex very well, the system will complain if you open too many Chrome tabs or run more than a handful of apps at once.

        • Ok. Thanks for that.
I think i will wait for the tab 7 or tab 8 to go on another sale.
