  • This is pretty bleh really, compared to the recent deals. e.g. the Lenovo one at Bing Lee with intell 11 gen, a superb display for $719 (and even less on clearance).
But if you really need a laptop in a hurry…..

    • Can you link me that, trying to get one for my friend

  • +7

There is a Lenovo Ideapad for a very low price of $649 from Bing Lee if anyone is after a cheap student laptop may be sold out now.

    13.3" QHD 2560 x 1600 300 nits
    512GB SSD
    8GB DDR4 RAM non upgradable
    Intel Core i5-1135G7
IR Cam at 720p, with ToF sensor, fixed focus webcam.

It had 69 votes the last time it was posted for $719.10. Only 1 left so better be quick if you want it.

    • That's the one I bought and referred to above. It's an f'ing bargain and nice to use.

      • How's the build quality on the laptop? My Dell laptop has a very flimsy screen and it feels way too easy to snap off.

My oldest has had the same Lenovo unit for 16 months now, taking it back and forth to uni, albeit the model with the AMD CPU and more RAM. But is the same chassis, screen, trackpad, battery and body etc. Really nice screen, but graphics power is limited, as you might expect.
It has been faultless and still perfectly responsive - battery life is around 95% of new. Upgraded to Windows 11 of course.
She is good at looking after stuff though, so YMMV.

Another nearly 5 year old Lenovo Ideapad I bought for school is glued together due to the hinges breaking free. Still works well, refuses to die, battery about 75%. It is a major step down on this one and about what you would exect for $500 or so in mid 2017

    • doesn't show stock available anywher near me, at which location was one available?

      • You may be living in a state or postcode that does not have any Bing Lee stores, or they don't deliver there.

        • +1

I live in Sydney, around 15 mins from the CBD. Listing says it doesn't deliver and only accepts pick-up in store, however, there's no stock available near me.

          • @animasoIa: I guess it might be sold out by now. I checked a couple of listings on Bing Lee and it appears as though they are in stock, but when you add to cart it tells you items are not available.

            • @scrimshaw: Oh sad, I was going to buy one, would they restock soon? Or is the stock cleared?

Or are there any other good deals you would recommend?

              Thanks

            • @scrimshaw: There are stock at albury. I'll be grabbing mine from there this Saturday. $649 with discount.
              But $45 petrol ⛽

      • +1

There's availability at Albury postcode 2640.

I like 1.5hrs away so I'll go for a nice day out on the weekend and have dinner at albury.

Thank you, just got one for my dad :)

  • They make computers?

    • +1

Laptops they have been making since 2016.

Desktops. Not sure. Never heard of one.

    • i was thinking they're still sanctioned lol

      • But if they already had the parts. They could still make devices with them. They just can't get more due to the ban.

      • I don't think it extended to computers.

      • at first it was the Qualcomm chips, then the nail in the coffin was Google services. Laptop business wasn't affected much.

  • Anyone used this model? Or any better deals in similiar price?
