Recommend me a 13.3-14" laptop for <$1400.

Hi all, I am in the market for a laptop for mostly standard use. I recently purchased a refurbished Dell Latitude 7420, but I had to return it due to a faulty processor. It took more than a month of arguing with customer service to be able to send it back, and I really don't want to go through that again, so I'd much prefer if I could get recommendations from other brands.

My priorities come in this order:

  • Relatively easily replaceable battery
  • Good build quality (doesn't need to be MacBook like, but I'd prefer if my laptop didn't squeak)
  • Thunderbolt, or some form of docking that allows for three external monitors
  • 16GB+ RAM
  • CPU, preferably Ryzen, but I know a lot of them don't have Thunderbolt, though I believe ThinkPads have a proprietary docking connector
  • Battery life
  • Display
  • Weight under 1.5kg

The Yoga Slim 7 Pro seems pretty neat but I've seen lots of reports of creaking so I'm not sure it's a good buy.

Any help is much appreciated.

Edit: Windows

M1 Macbook Air from edu store? think its 1339 or 1439. Best laptop if you don't need windows imo. I charge mine once a week (use it 1-2 hours a day browsing etc)

An M1 MacBook might suit you. You won't have the same problems with customer service, Apple let you return anything within two weeks of buying it, and if the processor is obviously faulty they will sort you out within the warranty period.

  • Edit: I threw the M1 MacBook Air into the ring as well but it probably doesn’t meet your needs. While the battery isn’t user replaceable it is easily done at apple and for an ok price… but you can’t connect 3 external monitors to a MBA.

  • Thinkpad T14s Gen 2 Ryzen

    • How about the P14s? It's a little cheaper with Windows removed from customisation, and seems to have a more robust cooling solution and more ports.
