Continuing with the SONOFF Zigbee sensor deals after the Motion Sensor, Gateway and Temp/Humidity Sensor, GeekBuying now have the Window Door sensor on sale. This sensor is designed to detect when a door or window has been opened to trigger a notification to your device or trigger an action with another Zigbee sensor.

As an example you could have it setup so that when it detects a door opening to a room it will turn on a smart light. Or more advanced functions like when a window is opened an a window is opened a Zigbee IR controller turns off the heatpump.

Like other Zigbee sensors it requires the use of a Zigbee Gateway like the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 Gateway. A CR2032 battery comes included to offer a long battery life.

  • Only let me pay in AUD, where it came up as AUD$11.31 -> should be the price in title.

    • I'm able to set the website currency to USD and pay in USD. In PayPal I have a card added without currency conversion fees so when I set that to bill in USD I get close to the current exchange rate.

The current exchange rate gives me $10.70 AUD. If you use GeekBuying's AU rate or let PayPal do the conversion then the price is going to be more.

  • Could you please explain what is the difference of "with battery" and "without battery"? The prices with or without battery are the same.

With battery includes the required CR2032 battery and without does not.

      • Thanks. And the coupon code is only for buying 1 unit only? I tried to add multiple units to the shopping cart but it only worked for 1 unit.

        • +1

Yeah it's 1 per order so feel free to make multiple.

  • Does anyone have any photos of this. It doesnt seem too aesthetically pleasing from what I can see - not sure this will pass the wife test

  • tried one of these, found there was a 1s lag on registering door open, not useful for triggering a light based on that. Aqara ones worked much better for me.

  • Usually, long the battery last for ?

Unfortunately Sonoff zigbee devices are a bit hit and miss. I have this door sensor for my garage door and it constantly drops offline despite having a router right next to it (Xiaomi smart zigbee plug). Built pretty cheaply and not aesthetically pleasing compared with Xiaomi or Aqara or Smartthings. The buttons are nasty - terrible tactile response and had I known I would have paid a bit more for the Xiaomi button. I did order the Sonoff motion sensor to try out though and I am reasonably happy with my Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 coordinator

    • The motion sensors aren't bad. I ordered three, one failed after a couple of months but the other two are running pretty much perfectly give months later. Things to note are the batteries they come with are rubbish - replace them immediately. Also some of the other motion sensors (Hue and I think the new Aqara) also measure light and temperature, albeit not particularly accurately.

Sonoff contact sensors are pretty poor quality. Some arrive broken, the batteries they come with only last a couple of months, and even when working as there supposed to they drop off the network pretty regularly. Oh and they are way chunky.
