nice, time to take it to ow for pricematch

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/iPo…

    (for convenience)

    • +1

takes 10 bucks to ship to me

makes it the same as in ow

  • +1

I got a pair of these last time they were on the cheap. Really comfortable headphones. Decent sound for the price too.

  • -8

Useless for VIC with $10 shipping cost it makes it to $35

    • +12

If you bothered to read the first comment, it would not be "useless".

      • -1

it's useless, coz OW takes delivery into account.

  • Great headphones.

  • -1

These have decent sound and are comfortable, but the build quality is pretty bad. We've had two of these in the office break within a year or two where the headphone joins headband.

    • It's $25, you expect these to last you a whole life time?

      • I picked up Koss Porta Pros for $30 years ago and they're as sturdy today as they were then.

      • +3

No, and I didn't neg it. I'm just making people aware of the problem.

      • Well for $24 you think they would last longer then 1 year.

        • I'm sure with some duct tape… yours will last a life time :)

FWIW, I don't think build quality is any worse than much more expensive Sennheiser's - all seem to need a few layers of electrical tape sooner or later: but I am pretty rough on them (for an office environment)

    • i have exactly the same problem

although its more likely from being crushed in my work bag

once it comes off, i'll just buy another 201

    • Mine have lasted a good three or four years so far.

    • If you're careful with them they won't break. When taking on and off hold them at the headband above the hinge. The hinge will break if you're not gentle and you hold the headphone part to take them on and off.

Koss Porta Pros don't have the type of common rotating hinge that commonly breaks in headphones. Koss Porta Pros are from a different era though - when many good quality headphones had a reasonable price.

Just tested out a pair of HD 201's that i've had lying around for awhile. They're quite impressive for the money. Have bought them for as little as $15 before.

Relatively flat frequency response. Rolls off at the top and bottom a little earlier than expected. Not anything too horrid though. A little extra bass to them fixes it up. Doesn't badly muffle the low frequencies like many headphones do.

The vinyl on the ear cups will break down after a few years, especially if you are sweaty.

      • Don't forget, you can also mod the 201's if you really wanna be 1337! ;)

Have these. There great for the price! Normal price is like $35 in Office Works. Two things bad about them is the cables length, its annoyingly too long and they don't have a mic.

    • +2

I prefer the extra long cable. It's a matter of preference.

      • that's what she said…

        On topic though:
I own these headphone. Daily use at my desk for a couple of years and still going strong. Good sound for the price.

        • neg on account of terrible TWSS. sorry but it just doesnt work.

would you say the headphones are good for travelling? will be going overseas and looking to get something i can wear on the plane for extended hours.

        • will be going overseas and looking to get something i can wear on the plane for extended hours.

Nope, I can still hear the missus nagging when I'm wearing mine.

IMHO you'll want either active noise cancelling jobs, or at the least a decent set of in-ear canal noise-isolating ones to block out the howling kids & blithering idiots yapping all around you if you're going cattle, er I mean OzBargainer, class! ;)

    • Mm, what do you expect for the price. I personally would get something Like A Zalman ZM-MIC1 clip on mic.

The only real contender i see for the price would be the Koss PortaPros

      Mic - http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-M…

Very good deal for an Aus seller though, pricematching at OW's would make this an even better deal.

      Thanks OP

    • +3

      Doesn't have a mic?

      It says headphones, NOT HEADSET.

You want something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-Closed-Ear-Gaming-…

      • -1

I knew it didn't have a mic on it when I bought it, you think I'm dumb? I'm just saying it would have been nice if it did include a mic.

    • Why in the negative? I give my two cents about the product and people hate it?

      • +8

Because your second complaint (the mic) is like complaining that a Ferrari can't seat 43 people. You're complaining that it's not suitable for a purpose that it's not intended for.

        • But I think what RRP is getting at that it would have been nice if the 43 seater Ferrari could fly.

  • +4

Bought a pair of these last deal. Love 'em. Great price and you won't look like a beats beater.

    • Haha Awesome comment these are value for money

  • are these overear or on ear? Because on ear ones for me start to kill after around 40 mins of listening.

    • They just barely fit over my ears.

      • +1

crap it says over ear in the title, dont know how i missed that!

    • Despite the impression one might get from pics, the ear cups on these are significantly smaller than more expensive, full-size circumaural headphones. They're not great comfort headphones in my view, but this depends a lot on what you're used to.

    • My big Dumbo ears fit in them easily.

    • I have pretty big ears and they fit over mine fine. Have not tried for extended periods of time though.

  • +2

owned these for almost 10 years. Get one.

'When price matching online stores we also take into account the added cost of delivery. If the identical product can be purchased and delivered via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%.'

This means $24.00 + $10.00 delivery to Melbourne = $34.00 and with officeworks pricebeat, it will be about $32.00. Still an awesome deal but Sydney siders are a bit more luckier this time.

  • These are so much better than beats headphone!!

    • +4

To be fair though, just about anything is better than Beats ;)

  • Had 'em for a couple of years, great sound not really a lot of bass though.
The left ear cup broke off after a year and a half and the material coating around the ear cup started to flake off.

  • Had mine 2 years and still going strong.Normal wear and tear on the train commute.

Only prob i have is the length of cable which gets tangled occasionally.

  • +1

I've had mine for over a year now, still work & look as good as they did the day I unboxed them! :)

  • +1

    Out of stock :(

  • How would it compare to the creative Aurvana live : http://us.store.creative.com/Creative-Aurvana-Live-Headphone… ?

  • Bought mine 2 years ago. Great headphones for the price.

  • Expired, Out of stock :(

  • Damn, out of stock. Might have to drive to office works and see if I can price match

    • Can one ask for price match from OW if the item is out of stock on the competitor's site?

      • +1

Yes, just got mine from OW in sydney CBD for 22.80 after showing them a printout from the BL website. The out of stock thing was half cut off by the printing margins but the sales clerk didn't seem to worry anyway.

  • Thanks… picked up one from Hurstville.

  • +2

Sorry if this comes a bit late. Last night I walked into Bing Lee in Burwood, Sydney.

Talked very nicely to the man. Got this same HD201 for $21.00 cash. When I left their computer says they have four in stock at the shop.

If it's useful to anyone, the image of my receipt is below:
    http://upload.ozbargain.com/2012/05/03/8359_binglee_senn_hd2…

    • Could I print your receipt, bring it to OW, and get it price matched?

Do you think it would work?

      • Dude all you need is a print-out of the Bing Lee web page with the HD201's on it. Just did it today.

  • +1

    It's back in stock guys

  • +2

Got mine price matched at OW for 22.80 :)

  • Seriously price-matching it at Office Works is a better option than buying it from Bing Lee themselves.

OW take 5% off so you end up paying $22.80. Just price-matched at Office Works Osborne Park (WA).

  • +2

Went into OfficeWorks, showed the checkout a print out of the web page and was able to price match Bing Lee despite the print out displaying the item as out of stock.

  • Just got a pair for $20 at Eastwood. Thanks OP! =P

  • picked up for $24. thanks
Does anyone else feel their ears feel blocked after a while? :-S
Or my head is just way to big for any headset :-(

  • Can confirm that I price matched these at Officeworks Bundoora, VIC. The guy was going to check online but couldn't be bothered, so it might be hit and miss depending on what rep you get. Final total was $22.80.

  • I was interested but the deal has expired, they are $49 now
