  • 1000 iu is nowhere near enough daily intake.

Get serious with Vitamin D during winter with a years supply of 5000IU such as http://www.iherb.com/Healthy-Origins-Vitamin-D3-5-000-IU-360…

    • what is your source on this claim that 1000IU per day is not enough?

      • There's this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez/14687355?dopt=Abstr…

        Referenced in this article http://www.nutritionj.com/content/3/1/8
"In community-dwelling healthy older American men with relatively high 25(OH)D levels who were randomized to 25 mcg (1000 IU)/day vitamin D or placebo, there was no effect on health perception"

        • you must not realise that vitamin intake is only beneficial in case of deficiency?

as per your article "Further investigations of the effects of vitamin D supplementation should focus on individuals with low levels of vitamin D.", ie you don't go justifying 5000IU per day because 1000IU had no effect when the subjects had sufficient levels to begin with xD

    • Choice article on Vit D from this January says "experts recommending a minimum of 400IU, and preferably 800IU per day" & a safe upper max is 4000IU/day. They go on to say 1000IU is the most common way to supplement your diet. Until I see better data/references, I'm going to trust Choice.

You guys realise that the only ingredient (besides the capsule) is olive oil, right?

    • +3

Actually this specific supplement contains 25 µg(1000 IU) of cholecalciferol per capsule, easy mistake.

    • there is a magic ingredient that only works if you believe in it. Like sex after 40.
