Steam Weekend Deal - Sanctum $2.50 and Batman Arkham City $14.99 USD

560

Hey guys
Weekend deals this week are Sanctum for $2.50 USD and Batman: Arkham City for $14.99 USD

Sanctum is a fun little mix of tower defence and first person shooter to play by yourself or with a few friends (supports up to 4 player co-op i think). For $2.50 you really can't go wrong with this.

Can't really speak for Arkham city as I haven't played it yet, maybe now's the time to?

Also worth mentioning that all DLCs for Sanctum are 75% off too

  • Was about to complain about that price being NA only but just checked and they have dropped the price of Arkham City and it is now in line with the US (yay)

DLC for batman is reduced too.

so hard not to pull the trigger on Batman, but I have such a backlog at the moment.. and haven't finished Asylum that I got in the X-mas sales lol…. I should wait. Damn you steam for tempting my wallet!

If I'm short on game playing time is it worth playing Asylum before City?

EDIT: Never mind, Asylum is half price this weekend too, down to $6.80. May want to add to original post.

      $6.80 for Asylum isn't a bad deal. :-)

You should definitely play them in order; there's so many story tie-ins and references back to events in the first game, not to mention you're taking on a ton more enemies in the fights in Arkham City, so if you've played through Arkham Asylum you'll have a good feel for the FreeFlow combos and when to Attack/Stun/Counter.

Besides that Arkham Asylum is just one of the best Stealth-Action games ever created, period.

It's like a mixture of Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and an arcade Fighter.

Batman is well worth picking up, great game!

  • This seems like a great deal (Arkham Bundle): http://store.steampowered.com/sub/14530?snr=1_8_4__501

  • dlc for sanctum worth it?

    • You get some pretty good extra towers and variety in maps doesn't hurt. So for the price I would say it's worthwhile if you are going to play it for several hours.

  • Does Sanctum have a single-player mode (i.e. not multiplayer)?

    • Yes, has single player.

  • Got Arkham City from DSE's sale. Need to fire it up sometime (along with about 20 other games I have sitting on the shelf, and 40-odd Steam games I haven't started yet).

Games are getting too cheap - I can't finish my games before the next special deal comes along:(.

The irony is that, by the time you get to playing the last of them, their prices would be lower than what you paid for them now. Games are like cars, they depreciate like crazy!

      • Shhh!

Actually, I've become addicted to Plants Vs. Zombies, and now want the rest of the Popcap Collection when Steam decides to discount it from $99 to $25 or so.

Just to add even more games to my library.

    • I agree, it's raining PC games these days.

Thanks to the DSE clearance sale and various online retailers like OzGameShop I have literally 50 or so PC games just sitting on my shelf (90% bought for $20 or less, some for $1-5 dollars), dating all the way back to Dead Space 2 and basically everything of note that has been released since then; and I've played through maybe 5, lol.

  • Is the Arkham City available from the site as an Australian copy or are they all US copies?

A word on Batman: Arkham City; it may be worth waiting for the GOTY Edition that's coming out on the 29th for those of you who have yet to play through Asylum or who have finished it but don't necessarily have the time to jump into Arkham City just yet.

The Game of the Year Edition includes the Catwoman DLC, Nightwing DLC, Robin add-ons, Skin and Challenge packs as well as Harley Quinn's Revenge.

    • "Arkham Bundle"

wonder if it will be inclued in the bundle when its released…
      doubt it…

      • It won't. That's the entire reason they're doing this GOTY Edition; milking the cash cow.

Granted it is a very, very well put-together cash cow but nevertheless, the only new piece of content in it is Harley Quinn's revenge (slightly over 2 hours of gameplay where you interchangeably play as Batman & Robin), so I don't see how it's fair to charge a premium for it considering everything else can be had for a total of $30 dollars.

The Sanctum Collection for $5 seems like a super deal. Gonna grab it.
Also Arkham City was my personal GOTY for 2011 and Arkham Asylum was utterly brilliant as well. You are really doing yourself a disservice if you don't play these games. Especially when you can get both for just over $20.

  • Got Arkham City. I missed out on playing as Catwoman the first time around on the PS3!

  • Sanctum is great fun! Been playing the SP for nearly the last 3 hours so I feel like I have already got my $5 worth.

  • I've been locked out of steam for two weeks now due to some problem being in offline mode. Done all there suggestions and now waiting on a response from their support team. Anyone else had same problem?

    • Nope. Have you got any proxy software installed?

  • Shouldn't we wait for the Arkham City GOTY pack with all the DLC included? Or should we all just get this one?

  • Arkham city is pretty cheap, at its cheapest at GMG it was still $20 IIRC and that wasn't a Steam version.

And I'll just leave this here.

    • The DSE clearance sale had it for the lowest price to date; $15 (if you could find a copy). However it just came with the Catwoman DLC and none of the others (though to be fair, none of them add that much game-play).

Like I said before, the upcoming Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC is a proper add-on with over 2 hours of additional story-mode gameplay.

  • Good stuff! I might pick up Asylum now and wait for Arkham City GOTY Edition since it's not like I'll be running out of games to play anytime soon. I can wait.
