    DVD ?

    • Exactly what I was thinking

    • +1

I'm a fan of UHD and HD myself too, but yeah, most of our sales are actually DVD still.

      • +4

Why would anyone want to watch anything in standard def?

        • Especially on a 4K OLED TV.

        • We all need to see John's butchery skills in UHD or nobody's watching.

  • Do people still buy DVDs / Blurays?

    • Blurays?

Me sometime, still using FHD TV

    • Yes

    • +3

They do! So these deals are still relevant to a lot of people. When we have a 4K deal, we'll let you know! Or head to our Special Offers page to see what's already on offer!

Stay away from Kicks… unless you enjoy your items being sent to you in nothing but a plastic bag!
There is also very little communication from the merchant.

    • Hi Andeh Pandeh, sorry to hear you've had a negative experience. I've not heard any reports of our stock ever being sent out in just a plastic bag and this is certainly not what we have arranged with our 3PL supplier! I'll pass on some feedback to our customer service team though to improve reponse times and communication quality. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

      • +1

Lots of reports in your feedback - https://feedback.ebay.com.au/fdbk/feedback_profile/kicksonli…

I can confirm I also received 4K movie in plastic bag (not an actual plastic bag, as in there was a little bit of thickness to it) but just a bag with no bubblewrap. I didn't complain as luckily it didn't get damaged, but I would recommend to use some bubblewrap going forward. Did find some great prices which is appreciated :)

Thanks blah-blah, I'm aware of our eBay feedback, 99.6% positive, I was alarmed by the idea of a "plastic bag" though! You'd like more thickness in the mailer? We'll look into some other mailer options and see what's possible and within budget. Glad you found some good prices, we're trying our best.

          • +1

@kicksau: lol, I don't mean the score :P I mean look at the negative and neutral comments, some of the positive comments even mention the packaging. It is simple fix, even if need to increase prices just slightly to cover the cost. Bubblewrap envelope preferred or auspost tough bag might also be okay but probably costs more. Thanks for the reply :)

            • +2

@blah-blah: Haha I know what you mean! Our Sales Account Manager is across the comments: positive, neutral and negative. Mailers is a tricky one, they are quite expensive, but we'll definitely take another look and see what we can do. Of course! Feedback is a gift! We appreciate you :)

      • Wow amazing communication in a public forum! It's shame your response to customer enquiries is almost non existent. :)

Two orders shipped to me from your eBay store were sent in a plastic bag. One of the box sets was damaged and I had no response from Kicks at all regarding the damaged item. eBay had to step in and refund me.

        • +3

I'm so sorry! Andeh Pandeh would you mind emailing me at [email protected] with your order number and postal address? I'd like to check in with Customer Service and also send you something else too.

      • +1

I was also sent a 4k box set in a plastic bag and the box was torn and the jewel cases were cracked.
50 cents worth of packaging would have prevented this and is the reason why I have never bought anything from you since.
I also mentioned this to you right here on OZB previously so please don't go saying something like "I've not heard any reports of our stock ever being sent out in just a plastic bag"

        • Hi @catchmeifyoucan I'm sorry you received damaged stock and I'm sorry that I was not personally across your previous comment in OzBargain about damaged stock and mailers. Please email me your order number and postal address at [email protected] so I can try to make good.

  • Plus vote for the one guy that still buys DVD…. but for Bluray and 4K pricing on the JW series, Amazon is much better.

    • +1

Most of our customers are actually DVD customers. If you're after a 4K or Blu-ray deal, there's some available, please see our Special Offers page.

DVD aka 720p!!!!!!!!!!!!! I vomited a little in my mouth.

    • +1

Ha! Most of our customers are DVD buyers. We have some deals on 4K and Blu-ray though, check out our Special Offers page https://www.kicks.com.au/category/special_offers

      • I'm trying to imagine the poor folks still using 720p, and why they haven't just gone streaming (free and/or paid). Even the 7PM news is in 1080p, its 2022 after all.

        • +4

My telly's a 2008 42" Sony 1080p and has a crazy good picture to my eyes. I prefer Bluray obv but DVDs don't look bad upscaled with a decent Bluray player. Budget only allows for cellular broadband which doesn't have anywhere near enough headroom for streaming if I want to avoid shaping (mod: edited).

          • @0jay: Ok so just you and my 84yr grandmother then :P but she's half blind so there's that
I'm impressed your 2008 tele is still going strong

    • +5

Don't believe DVD reaches 720p. That's considered High Def. DVD is Std Def.

        To quote:
        "
There are two standard DVD resolutions: NTSC DVD resolution: 720 × 480 (total 345,600 pixels), 480i/480p. PAL DVD resolution: 720 × 576 (total 414,720 pixels), 576i/576p.29 Mar 2021"

You are right, 480p. oof hey!

        • OMG my eyes would bleed

    • DVD not even 720p it is 720 x 480

720p still OK on FHD TV

    • +2

DVD aka 720p!!!!!!!!!!!!! I vomited a little in my mouth.

      DVD is 480p.

Even the 7PM news is in 1080p

Wrong again. That would be 1080i.

I guess resolution isn’t that important if you can’t tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p.

      • I don't watch live TV, but I'm sure my LG G1 does a solid job upscaling 1080i to 4k anyway. 720p or 540p looks crap even with something like Nvidia shield ai upscaling.

        • +1

Nope. 720p will look better on modern TVs because modern TVs are progress, not interlaced.
