  • Great mic, perfect for meetings!

  • Quality better on these than the QC35 II?

    • For listening, most prefer the QC35 IIs, for calls definitely the NC700.

    • Sound-wise and NC-wise yes, comfort-wise no. It clamps harder so it's not comfortable for long time.

      • I think comfort and clamping force is a bit subjective.
I had the QC35s and later switched to the NC700s. Personally I find the NC700s to be more comfortable than the QC35s. ymmv though.

  • this or Sony WH1000XM4 ?

    • +1

Depends on what you're looking for really? They're different. I'd personally say that the NC700s are a better all rounder than the Sony's, but a lot of people love the sound signature of the Sonys' XM4s

    • +2

XM4 sounds better but earcup touches my ears hence not comfortable. Better to go in-store to try them out first.

    • +2

Sony - once equalised, better sound quality
      Bose - slightly better NC

NC tested on a Beechcraft Super Kingair.

With conversations (web meetings, phone calls etc) - points win to Bose.

Sony's are a fantastic pair of cans!

    • +1

XM4 because the lithium battery is replaceable and not soldered. When the battery in the Bose set inevitably dies, then you’re stuck with headphones that can only be used in wired mode (mic also doesn’t work in wired mode) and they sound worse in passive mode. Bose do not repair headphones in that scenario and they merely offer you a discount on a new pair.

      • oh wow! that is a good insight. Thank you, I will reconsider this.

  • Great headphones, though have been sold for less.

Currently slightly cheaper from Bose directly, provided you don't mind a refurb unit for $389.95:

  • I missed the day when its price went down to $330, especially the day when it was $300 :-(
