Renpho Smart AI Bike $680 Shipped @ Renpho

540
EASTEREGG

Yes yes I always harp on about renpho with their constant spamazon but this seems to be a decent price and worth the gamble as reviews seem ok (but suspect of being incentivised) and and compatible with zswift. Renpho has their own free training app too. Didn’t even realise old mate renpho did a bike until @jasonc pointed it out.

Amazon has it at $799 with coupon which is also shipped via renpho direct not amazon handled.

code easteregg seems to give 15% off the $799 price - not sure if intentional as it says at top banner code is for 10% but then the home page says 15%.

Pay via PayPal and 28 degrees for extra protection in case the poo hits the fan. I suggest strongly you do the same if you consider.

The website seems to be based on shopify as far as I can tell and payment is to TIT INTERNATIONAL LIMITED which seems to own the rights to the RENPHO name. Similarly the contact number is same as the contact number listed on their amazon store.

No abn and it does say 2-3 weeks shipping so it’s clear this is coming direct from overseas and prob their way of ducking any ACCC/ACL obligations. Similar lead time on amazon.

Alternate option if you want a real bike you can also ride outside is this option as per @kickling and @drakesy

Kmart bike $129 : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/694555
Tacx Boost $349 :
https://www.pushys.com.au/tacx-boost-indoor-trainer-bundle.h…

Then for app, Use z swift or RGT if you want free option.

Looks like big exercise got to you!

Let’s be real - I’ll give it 7 days before I’m back on the zinger boxes, 2 for $7 shell express Dare iced coffees and half pack of darts a day.

Also dw , I’ll still be bashing renpho spamazons.

      • 7?

        • +2

Ok 1 , or less if there happens to be any kfc free delivery promos.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: I'm sure there'll be a 100% cash back with Pizza Hut soon enough

            But maybe not thru cheddar

          • +2

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Use code FEASTER for free delivery this weekend via Menulog. You're welcome

            • @brightside: U da real mvp

I had a large zinger box and an extra side of wicked wings last night already tho. I was thinking hj tonight

  • 799 on Amazon .. and i believe quicker delivery ? and 0 risk

    • +1

Eta 3-10 may which is circa 3 weeks lead time from shipping.

As for risk not sure about that as it’s not shipped through amazon / listed as an amazon prime product so you’d be dealing with renpho anyway? That’s also why I suggest paying with PayPal and using a cc with merchandise protection (such as OG 28 degrees)

    • It disappeared from Amazon earlier this week.

  • +1

nice one, been looking for a reasonable priced one for the office
have the renpho scale which has been working for years :P

    • Haha I will begrudgingly admit that yes the scale is surprisingly ok. And when on sale, did present decent value.

    • using scales, they take less space and less effort ….. i’m amazed how much exercise gear goes out during hard waste collection days when i drive in my suburb …..

      • To be fair a lot of the ones I see are generally poor quality cheap ones , or broken, or rusted to hell or all the above.

  • I thought these are bad for knees? (If used inappropriately of course)

    • Didn’t see anything about it in the reviews. That being said I’m fairly sure any overly positive review is most likely incentivised. Item seems relatively new too so not much legit or long term reviews are around)

  • +2

Makes a great coat rack, thanks OP

    • +3

Anytime mate. Between this, my power rack and dumb bell/kettlebell stands I am going to be able to hang my whole wardrobe out soon.

  • Weight limit is 265lbs, so only 120kg.

    • Height limit is also 155 to 180 - could be important for some

      • +1

Yeah, it's definitely a case of me being too tall for it, not being too fat.

      • There's a YouTube review from a dude who 's 6 ft 3" (I think the channel is called LearnWithTrent or something) and he said it was super comfortable and sturdy for him.

        • I’m 1.8 and 90kg will review

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Judging by all of the reviews, you shouldn't have any problems.

I'm blown away by the free app, by the way. Only saw your post yesterday, but ordered mine a few days ago, after receiving Renpho's email with the code, as I've had my eye on the bike for a while and already own their scale, smart measuring tape and eye massager, all of which I'm happy with.

            • @elektron:

Judging by all of the reviews, you shouldn't have any problems.

I do suspect many reviews are incentivised.
I have no interest in being incentivised by Renpho and will happily highlight all the negatives I find if any.

              • @Jimothy Wongingtons: I was incentivised by them for a review on Amazon for another purchase, but gave an honest review, highlighting a missed opportunity and scoring it 4 stars because of that. Not all of the YouTube reviews I've watched were incentivised and, unlike you and me, the bloggers also have a reputation to uphold, so are unlikely to lie about something as basic as comfort.

  • I just broke my exercise bike a few weeks ago and got it parts replaced. Been using it almost daily but it seems like its about to break again (can sometimes feel the tensions in the pedels and axel).

Would this bike be durable like a concept 2?

    • concept 2?

Prob not comparable to an industry standard . It’s easily less than half the price tho

  • +1

The maximum age range is 70 years old. I would be interested to know the logic behind this.

    • +1

Seriously coulda just said max age 69 and everyone woulda been like

      N I C E

      • That doesn't answer my question. What does Renpho know that other reputable fitness equipment suppliers apparently do not know?
Perhaps an example of ageism, or ageist stereotyping?

        • Could be an ancient Chinese secret they don’t want us westerners to know

        • -1

maybe stat as from scales indicate the 70 year olds are unfit and if they dies while using their exercise bike because because the settings are too strenuous it’s bad advertising …..maybe make one like an e-bike so you don’t need to pedal as hard and less stress for 70 year olds ……..

    • I'd guess (without evidence) that it has something to do with worrying about lawsuits.

  • Forgive the noob question, but how do you know this works with zwift? I can't see Renpho on their website under compatible bikes (https://support.zwift.com/en_us/indoor-bikes-rkRxp7Zgr)?

    • Says in the listing on amazon and website. Needs an fw update for the 2022 Zswift update I just read.

For me it doesn’t rly matter I’ll prob be using the free renpho app as I’m a tight arse

Fwiw it also lists peloton compatibility but if you got money for that, this is prob a bit low brow for you.

      • +2

Thanks! I just bit the bullet - need something to show my doctor I'm actually taking his advice seriously :-)

  • +7

I bought one of these last year from Amazon before it was released on the Australian site, paid $1,000+ to get it shipped from the US.

It works with Zwift (just did another ride this morning), including auto resistance changes and ERG mode, which you won't get at any other stationary bike anywhere near this price point - you generally have to go up to wattbike atom, tacx neo, kickr bike etc which cost $3,000+

There are compromises however, the biggest being it's got a freewheel rather than a flywheel, meaning it feels very different to a traditional spin bike. There's no momentum to keep the pedals spinning when you stop applying force, meaning it feels choppy at the higher resistances since people naturally have a dead zone in their pedaling stroke.

Overall I think the bike is excellent value and don't regret the purchase at all. There are a couple of review videos on youtube if you would like more info.

    • Nice one good to know. The choppyness was highlighted in a lot of other reviews especially the blogs from experienced cyclers but at this price point yeah couldn’t find anything else looking half decent

    • How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 186cm and curious about the height limit. Amazon says max 6'1 and Renpho website says 6'5.
      Thanks

      • +2

I'm 1.7. The reviewers on youtube are tall (1.9+) and they mention it's just usable at their height.

        • That's great. Thanks for letting me know. Will take a look at the YouTube review.

  • +3

Thanks for this. Was after a reasonably priced exercise bike to help my recovery from knee surgery and this fits the bill.

Respected review sites such as GearLab give this bike overwhelmingly positive reviews - saying it is well constructed, sturdy in use and well featured for up to intermediate level riders who are after an upright exercise bike. Straight forward to put together and the app gets a good review too.

This review (in 2 parts) gives a pretty good summary.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBnf2RWwWUM

Excellent price delivered all things considered.

  • We can prob start a renpho smart ai bikies club at this rate

  • +3

I purchased this bike last month with $90 off deal on Amazon, never regret! It worths every penny.
It has very good apps and programs you can use when ride.

    • Any cost for the apps?

      • +1

        Renpho no
        Everything else is sub based

  • Anyone know how loud this would be. Would it annoy someone in the same room trying to read or watch TV?

    • absolutely.

    • Well u could always turn the tv up.

It would definitely be too loud if someone was reading

    • Thanks. That means, no for me, thanks.

    • +1

hmm, it's not loud at all.
check some Youtube videos samples for this bike.

  • Is there any subscription cost for that built in app?

  • Curious to know the differences to say this $74 bike from Target? https://www.target.com.au/p/fila-gen-ii-magnetic-bike/646430… Is it mostly app/subscription to fitness programs/videos?

    • +1

Interactive app connectivity for one, and by extension, dynamic variable resistance. Also interacts with fitness monitors/watches.

      Build quality is another one.

If you don’t care about app and interactivity and just want to smash out some k’s, I’m sure the $74 option will be serviceable.

    • what's the difference between the Target and this one from amazon
      is it just the features?

  • Does anyone know if you need a pretty decent tablet to enjoy the app while riding without experiencing issues? Or could you buy a cheapie just to keep on the bike for that purpose only.

Or has anyone tried casting their phone/tablet to a tv for a larger display while riding? I feel like an 8" tablet would be too small when in the same room as a 75" tv :D

    • +1

A lot of reviews I watched/read today cited just using phone and casting to tv.

I also plan to cast to the 65 inch tv in my man cave.

    • +2

The app runs fine on my 2015 Galaxy Tab A (T550) running android 7, so doesn't need a decent tablet at all.

      • That is a decent tab. Got it it too

  • I have a Schwinn recumbent that works at a pinch with Zwift, but no resistance control. Does anyone know of a better recumbent for that purpose?

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought one for the health.

    • Got use it. Buying it enough aint good for the health

      • Yeah working on that part…

  • i literally just bought one of these yesterday :(

    • Amazon?

      • ya

        • I doubt it’s been shipped? Maybe cancel and hope this deal restocks?

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: It had already shipped unfortunately. At least with Amazon returns are good if it messes up. Probably the silver lining

  • +2

Looks like oncall developer fixed their bug… just 10% offer applied and not 15% anymore…
Final price after EASTEREGG code is coming down to 720 and not to 680 😟
Edit- when I clicked PayPal and try again it took 15% discount.. so ended up paying 680$ ..Thxs OP

    • NOw that’s some good website developing

  • +2

Bought. One day i will use it, maybe.

  • Looks like deals been ozbargained

  • +5

Having a large transaction from TIT International sitting on my credit card statement for April is an unexpected benefit from this purchase.

'But darling, it really is just an exercise bike…'

    • +1

      TIT International

      MR WORLDWIDE

  • I'm looking for an exercise bike JUST like this one, except with magnetic resistance (and flywheel would be nice) - any thoughts on what my options are?

    • +1

Nothing if your budget is sub 1k I believe

      • Yeah I figured as much - know of anything between $1k - $2k, with auto-adjustment?

        • SCHWINN IC8 Spin Bike Maybe at negotiated sub $1200

Actually no sorry - it doesn’t do ERG MODE. In that case maybe not.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: ha yeah seems to be a huge gap in the market there - I just wasn't sure if I was missing something.

oh well I look forward to your review of the Renpho. Maybe I'll get in when they come back in stock.

  • +1

Order marked as shipped but tracking is not active yet. Will keep updating the thread as we go.

Really hoping no one gets a defected one.

edit Says it’s shipping via Australia post in the email but the link is actually throwing up a reference for allied express which I’ve in the past had nothing but dramas with including claiming I wasn’t home when I was there the whole time and have cameras monitoring front door, and drivers delivering my gear to the wrong address and claiming no responsibility.

The dispatch address is Block A 391 Park Road regents park which is a 3pl setup for a lot of Chinese eBay sellers.

    • +1

Further update cs finally got back to me and has confirmed 5-9 business days lead time. But asked me to go chase up allied express for issues with shipping. Not very confident how easy it will be about dealing with warranty issues I’ll say that much.
