If you don't need a GPU now and you don't have any reason to buy eofy, then I'd definitely wait for 7000/ada/arc

  • Is a 3060ti worth nearly $200 more than a 6600xt?

    • +6

3060ti is closer to 3070/6700xt in performance than to 3060/6600xt, so if you have extra cash I guess yes.

    • It is def a good card, seems holding its price pretty firm.

    • +1

If you plan on playing at 1440p or DLSS 4K then absolutely. If you're playing at 1080p or it's just a holdout until next gen, maybe not.

IMO it comes down to your budget and desired setup. If you're looking at a card to hold you over until the 4070 comes out then I'd probably save the $200 and get the 6600xt. Mine on it until Eth2.0 comes along, get some decent gaming, be happy.

If you're looking at a midrange card to last you the next 2-3 years then the 3060ti is a great card. I've been playing Horizon Zero Dawn at 4K with DLSS and it's beautiful. I spent $850 on one back in August last year and do not regret it at all, especially since the 3080 I wanted was $2k at the time. The 6600XT definitely can't do anything like that. But if you don't need it to, then it's money spent on nothing.

I'm looking at a card to hold me over till next decade! Lol. Don't upgrade very often. Not the slightest bit interested in mining. I am thinking it might be nice to move to 1440p though so I'll keep my eye on the latter over the next month or so. Not in a huge rush. Cheers for the reply.

sounds like you should wait till the new cards at end of the year, 1440p will be hard on "next gen gaming" with this card, but id guess the 50%ish jump in next gen will cover you for a WHILE, I'm still on the gtx 1070 and its flat lining on 1440p atm (was meant to get a GPU 2 years ago.. but uno that story)

Also may or may not be worth mentioning DLSS is currently amazing but AMD's Fidelity 2.0 looks to have all the same answers DLSS does.

Lots of options for next gen!

    • 3060ti fares similar to 1080ti…..such revolutionary tech.

Seen 1080ti selling for $400-450 and theyre a very reliable card.

These numbers are from the latest Hardware Unboxed 12 game average benchmarks for 2022 (https://youtu.be/oBDFtJ4lR2c?t=463). It doesn't take into consideration Ray Tracing, DLSS, etc I am aware 3k res isn't a thing, but I averaged the 1440p and 4k resolution performance stats. I personally run a 1440p ultrawide, so 3k is about right for me.

Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti recent bargain: LOL

      • +1

That's the sound of the Nvidia's directors laughing all the way to the bank.

        • That's the sound of the non-LHR laughing all the way to the bank.

    • Waiting on Nvidia RTX 3080 12GB bargain that isn't the gigabyte eagle

  • Considering pulling the trigger on this. I was looking for a 3 fan 3060 ti so it runs a bit quieter in my CM Elite 130 case. Currently I have a two fan RX580 8GB and it gets really loud when gaming. What are the noise levels like on this card?

    • Yeah, I'm waiting for a 3 fan variant as well.
I would have been fumbling to get my wallet open fast enough if this had been a 3 fan…

  • +3

Too expensive. I'm not paying more than 2 years ago for old tech. At least it's an evga though and not some ventus/asrock/colorful

  • This is a fairly low-tier 3060ti, there are plenty of better cards out there. Save your money.

You'll pay more for the higher power limit cards, and you'll pay more to run them. This is a perfectly good option if you understand what you're buying. EVGA has a great reputation too.

    • and upgrade the monitor first or together …

    • Would you go for this or an MSI gaming x 8g?

  • +1

Great card. Bought it at $687.65 thanks to the Afterpay sale to replace a GTX 1080 that had become faulty (bad fan controller I think - faulty tachometer readings). So my old card had fans with a mind of their own and it was such a relief not to have that random noise with fans whirring up and down whenever they felt like it in my study. I also got a slight uplift in some of the games I play.

    • Nice what sort of temps do you get under load?

      • Sitting at 44 at the desktop at the moment which is a bit higher than last time I looked. (Edit: That explains it - Edge was using about 7% GPU for some reason). After a long gaming session on something intensive Core is between low 60s and low 70s. Hotspot low 70s to low 80s. I haven't actually heard the fans ramp up except when I tested them with Afterburner manually.

  • Would this card be well paired with NZXT H1 case?

    • I had one in my H1 last year, was pretty cool but I always undervolt and I have vented front panel. was sitting in the 60s whilst gaming. From memory sitting in mid-high 70s when not undervolted (with vented front panel on).

      • Ah nice, thank you! Should be alright to play the game in 1440 as mentioned in the comment above?

        • Yeah easily. I play Modern Warfare and Black Ops with DLSS (looks pretty good) and was getting 130-160 FPS with an RX 3600

          • @AFM7: Okay, nice. I'm trying to build small form factor pc. Coming from gtx980.

What do you think of my list here on pcpartpicker:
            https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/frodoo/saved/#view=LR8jnQ

            • @froddoog: I'm definitetly not an expert but the parts list looks pretty good to me. If you don't already have the M.2 SSD, I would wait for a good deal on another gen 4 drive, I got one the other day for 115 for 1Tb or if paying that price you might be able to get the fastest (ie. 980- pro SN850 etc). I don't have a 5600X but I have the 5900X at the moment and it's performance is apparently quite similar for games that aren't incredibly CPU/multi-thread bound.

Are you planning to upgrade the power supply in the H1? I would say that 650W would be enough for your components. I've even tested a 6900XT in there and it was fine.

              • @AFM7: That's okay, at least i have input :)
good to know, I will wait for sales on those drives.

I was thinking to get the 3080ti, that was the reason for 750W psu :/

                • +1

@froddoog: Sounds like a good plan then. Good luck!

For anyone still interested in this card, BPCTech now has the same offer.

  • Mine still appears pending.

    • Pending - Awaiting stock availability here too!

      • Same also .
I'll give it a couple of days then cancel it . It was for my sons birthday which left me just over 3 weeks .

        • Fingers crossed that there is an in stock bargain before then. Was informed today that there is no ETA from their distributor for stock availability.

    • Confirmed they have no known ETA on stock from the supplier. Also considering canceling mine I have no GPU

      • +1

but when I order, it doesn't say its pre-order. welp, back to gpu hunt…sadge

        • +2

I know, I think it’s a bit dirty taking orders like that. Hopefully an even better deal is around the corner. Does anyone have a 6600 XT and rate it over Nvidia?

          • @Matteo27: depends on your use case. Personally I did go with 6700xt for $70 more than this deal for a slightly more performance.

            • @kekw: 1080p with a Ryzen 2600 at this stage. More is probably less until I upgrade lol

              • @Matteo27: you can preamp your future upgrades I guess.

          • @Matteo27: Totally agree . I assumed like a mug it was actually in stock .

How can you sell stuff if you have no idea when or even if you can get stock . That's fraud …

            • @troyww: Yeah well it had delivery date the next day. With all the stock shortages in these times who wants a pre-order with no known availability?

        • +2

Same! At cart checkout there was an ETA of 22/04/22 for me.

      • +2

I have been told to choose another 3060Ti that is in stock but they wanted me to pay the difference. I cancelled the order. Find it cheeky of them to accept this many orders when they don't even have stock. Hopefully my refund comes through quickly.

        • Gone the same response there is no indication of them getting stock any time soon. This sucks as missed the BPC deal that followed this one at the same price

        • that's pretty based. What card did they offer?

          • @kekw: Asus Dual mini. $110 more than this one

            • +3

@Matteo27: big balls to ask for more for a worst card.

  • Anyone got the card yet?

    • There is no ETA. If you don't ask, they will happily hold your money until you poke them.

    • Yes, I got my card delivered. Guess, I was just lucky.
