Nice to see prices coming down from an actual retailer and not just on the garden walled samsung store bs (happily admit I am just jealous I don't have access)

Checked one out at the store yesterday, they were running it at 60Hz and were on firmware 1004 lol.

  • when is OLED version coming out

    • thats not 49" tho

Had to read up on what is DQHD: The new resolution is being called “dual quad HD (DQHD) and will come out at 5120 x 1440.

    • DQHD effectively means the monitor can handle 2 4K outputs. So you can either have Picture By Picture mode on with two different computers, both displaying at 4K resolution, or use a single computer as if you had 2 ~27" 4K Monitors, only without the bezel in the middle.

Dual 1440p not 4K but yeah with no bezel

  • Surprised to see that this doesn't have any KVM functionality or USB-C? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know it's primarily a gaming monitor so likely designed to be used with a dedicated system, but that's a dealbreaker for me. A shame, as every other spec outclasses the rest, especially if you are after a tighter curve.

Dont buy. Its outright a scam product. Most of the advertised specs are not real. I dunno how they can even get away with this. Get the Alienware qd oled. I have used may Gsync ultimate mini led monitors and This one wad the worst. Its not worth more than $1200.

Not sure why you seem to hate this so much, I just returned my Alienware QD-OLED to keep my G9 Neo

I really like my G9 neo. I don’t feel scammed in the slightest

      • Just curious - was there any other reason you decided to keep the Neo G9 other than the larger screen size?

        • Yeah a few reasons
          1. It supports HDMI 2.1 downsampling, meaning it can accept a 4k 120hz signal from a PS5/XBSX and display it. The AW only does 1080P on the PS5
          2. I've gotten used to the 1000R curve and honestly prefer it at this point
          3. No fan on the G9 Neo, and they tend to get louder over time. This drove me nuts on my previous screen.
          4. Bright enough to use in a lit room for work and for bright HDR content
          5. 240hz is noticeable over 175hz

  • The 1000R curve sets this apart from the other 49" monitors on the market. Its truely immersive. I upgraded to the Neo from a triple display setup. Power Toys from Windows 10/ 11 allows me to customise multiple windows/ display layouts. I did splurge and bought the Ergotron HX clamp mount with HD pivot to suit my workspace setup. I purchased on Ebay at $2500
(as new refurbished stock) less over $300 discounts using the Ebay Afterpay discount and cashback from ShopBack Ebay vouchers. I do encounter the occasional plastic clicking sound as reported by some users. But that's something I willing to overlook as this monitor is a beast.

  • Took my work laptop with me to test this monitor out. Connecting via DP port is fine - 5,120 x 1,440 @ 240hz.
But connecting via HDMI was a nightmare, couldn't get it to output native res or high refresh. I think there is an ongoing issue with the HDMI portso n this monitor as its not the first time ive heard of this issue.

    • I’ve got no issues with HDMI outputting at native resolution from a intel iGPU. It’s only 60hz but that was expected from my ultra book - my gaming rig via DP is 240hz native resolution

      • In my case, my laptops intel iGPU can output full res and refresh via USB-C. But im like you and have a gaming rig, meaning 2 devices needing a DP port with only 1 available.

For $2.5k this should have absolutely no shortcoming; especially considering the old model had 2 x DP inputs.

Samsung just dropped the prices again at $2,499 (Samsung Store) and $2,374.05 (EDU).

Along with the $50 newsletter code, new low and cheaper than HN.

Now considering their QC history, is it a better to buy from HN where you can return the faulty product than buying from Samsung's online store?

I wonder if HN will update their price tomorrow or not.

I'm surprised HN is offering a competitive price at all. They won't drop further in a race to the bottom against the manufacturer.
