Only seems to be one restaurant in WA (3 outlets) and only 30% off.

  • Not seeing anything in the GC

    • Is there a blackout?

  • +1

    Nothing in bris

  • Looks like only Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney

  • +12

Everything on the fork nowdays is stupidly overpriced Indian restaurants, I honestly haven't used it in 2 years.

    • +1

Everything on the fork nowdays is stupidly overpriced Indian restaurants

u sure about that? 🤔. overpriced may be, but all arent indian food restaurants.

  • +1

    Fork me!!!!!

  • +1

Fork only caters to the restaurants in the Sydney city or north. They have not been able to expand to other areas like West for so many years.

  • +1

Is it just me being picky? Don't seem to have any good / know restaurants in the Sydney bunch.

  • +3

not many for Sydney. I remember deals from previous years included restaurants like Ripples at Mosman and Kobe Jones Barangaroo

  • +9

Great effort on the post OP. For those of you in Adelaide, Red Ochre Barrel and Grill and River Cafe never disappoint at 50% off. If you are looking to spend your yums, Cumbia Bar - Kitchen is nice.

  • They had orneggio's at the spit in the past, that was great. This, unfortunately not..

    • thanks, the 30% deal has better restaurant. Do you know how I can get a summary like what OP did for 50% off?

    • Looks like Cafe Del Mar and Roast Republic still have 50% off.

  • Ah the 30% off has some good ones. Someone mentioned in reviews Baia menu got price jacked though and another said discount not given, but probably due to user error or not reading terms and conditions.

  • dont know how fork can afford giving $50 off via yum points so easy, a friend said better use your yum quickly just incase the fork goes bankrupt

    • +1

The yums seem to be a bit of a scam. They are not redeemable at many venues in adelaide, let alone good ones. I do seem to recall they were generous enough to extend the expiry on them during covid.

      • -1

well its still $50, factoring petrol money you still in profit.
        unless you hate eating out

  • -1

funny just by randomly select any restaurant in sydney around city, the reviewer names are mostly asian :D

  • what is yum ?? does anyone know ?? and how to get & use ??

  • Checked a few restaurants for Melbourne and seemed a bit over priced to me.

    • even after 50pct off ? well those are not food court quality so, think again

      • Yes and no not talking about food court quality. I compared to a village shopping center individual restaurants with quality food, I dined in many times. It comes to around the same price after 50% off.

For instance an Indian restaurant called Avrah - Progressive Indian Cuisine, sells Aloo Tikki for 13.95 (doesn't mention quantities) and the same dish I ate many times when I dined in for $6.40 for 4 pieces. I only started eating this dish from the last couple of months, never new existed before.

Not arguing and this could be a good deal for most of the patrons like you, but when I compared I found it overpriced. There are other restaurants too I didn't check and may be I can find a good deal too, will keep looking.

        • Yeah.. hmm how about if we factoring the dining experience in a proper full service restaurants, the ambience, the venue, the decoration, etc?

          • @CyberMurning: Well food, quality food rather matters me the most and that too at a reasonable price, but i get it what you mean.

            • @IpGem: for me too, until when i get some shitty customer service from some cheap places (or just the way they talk, rushing, etc) and when i sit down in proper restaurant i really can tell the difference :D

Any recommendations for restaurants in Melbourne?

    • depends where do you live and how far you wanna go.

    • see the list on the top.

    • I went to Zarga in Endeavour Hills last night. Highly recommend. The rest of the restaurants are closer to the city. I was able to stack the Victoria Dining 25% off deal on top given it was outside the CBD and a Thursday night

      • Didn't the scheme expired on 14/4?

        • +2

It's still on (outside CBD only). It started off with $30mil funding. Now it is down to $25mil remaining

      • Zarga is not on the list above, did you get 50% deal?

    • Not sure if they've still got 50% off, but Tulum did amazing middle Eastern style food. Bit exxy so you definitely want the discount. The tiny dumplings in yoghurt sauce are great, so is their weird chicken pudding dessert.

Baba Ji does fancy Indian, it's pretty great.

      • Yep, booked Tulum has 50% deal, just booked the set menu at 1/2 price.

  • Am I the only one who feels awkward telling the waiter I booked through the fork for 50% off? Plus not ordering any drinks lmao.

    • +5

If you're ashamed then you're not a true ozbargainer 😂

I've done more for much less

      • +2

Hiding those $250 Coles MasterCards in store, the night before the deal started, was my low point. Lol

        • +5

          😂😂😂😂

My lowest point was probably signing up infront of the counter to get the 50% off first chatime drink and the workers had to call the manager because they had no clue how to put it in the system. Can you imagine…for cha time 😂

    • +1

Very awkward if you're taking your tinder date there, but I'd still do it anyway to confirm

    • +5

Personal experience, always politely tell the waiter that you have 50% off or you're redeeming Yum points. It would look worse if you argue about the 50% off only when you're paying the bill…

I had very bad experience redeeming Yum points at a brunch place at Northcote, VIC. At the counter the boss told me "I don't know what Yum is, in fact I stopped using TheFork for a while"

Interestingly he got my name and booking details in his system which has to obviously come from Thefork - so I'm 99% sure he is lying. I was made to pay the bill in full. Complained to TheFork afterwards and all I get is my original Yums point reinstated. Seriously WHAT THE FORK?

    • It's a little awkward, but mention it at the start to make sure you're on the same page. Good places know about the deal and won't make you feel bad. Some staff will have no idea what you're talking about and that's where it gets a bit weird.

      • +2

I can report that meat and wine co in Sydney is now fully recognising and apply the $50 off without me asking.
6 months ago i needed to explain

    • Deal details are included in the confirmation email, in bold red writing, should not be awkward or difficult to sort out on the day.

  • +3

Booked a place through them for 30% off and the place ended up not willing to give any discount. Complained and nothing happened, pretty disappointed with their customer service.

    • Very disappointing… I wouldn't have paid the bill.

    • That's terrible, how can they not give you the discount?? What was their reason?

      • +1

"sorry, we are not offering discounts at the moment"

Me: but I booked through the fork and the booking was confirmed!

"We're just not offering any discounts at the moment"

Obviously I gave them a bad review 😂

        • should've repeated this bit

Me: but I booked through the fork and the booking was confirmed!

        • Did you show them your booking / email confirmation?

    • +1

I want to share an experience we had today in Melbourne.

TLDR same thing but 50% off, no discount given at the end - and I CONFIRMED with waiter before ordering (!!)

Asked the waiter after being seated, that the booking was under the name Snoopster, booked through The Fork, and 50% off would apply on the total bill. The reply was yes, and a remark about drinks not included in the deal.

Outright refusal to provide the 50% when we went to pay, (following paraphrasing) 'I never said that' scenario, 'I said you were booked through Fork that's all.' 'Limited to 10 customers a day.' 'You're booked through the Fork but we see no Special Offer listed' (??)

**Moral: Came home and looked into it. Check your booking confirmation, if it says "Booking without a special offer" listed in there take extra precautions.

      • +2

So you clicked on “book without special offer” instead of “book with special offer” - so it was a genuine mistake on your part?

        • I didn't exactly click on Pay 100% instead of 50% off while clicking.. but yes.

But we were unsure going in, so we said it to the waitress, outright asked - this will be 50% off right? - and they led us on throughout the evening.

I would have been much happier if they told me at the start when I asked, no it won't be 50% off. but instead they chose to surprise us at the end, after we had racked up a $170+ bill

I'm saying sometimes certain restaurants might use their affiliation with this deal for dirty play that's all - as a few others have also pointed out. Granted many have had good experiences with it.

These kind of deals were great about 10 years ago. I remember booking 50% off for the Sofitel seafood buffet several times.

But over the past few years all the restaurants up in Brisbane appear to have realised that it's not helping their bottom lines.

    • +1

agree. TheFork has struggled to expand and add more restaurants.
I miss those awesome deals as well.

  • +3

Revoked my + vote because the booking system is a real PITA (the 50% discount only applies at certain restaurants, on certain days, at certain times, with certain table sizes).

    • Bloody ridiculous

      • the fork or the 4th of june ?

    • Call the restaurant and then mention The Fork. I could not book a time slot and called the restaurant. They were extremely happy to hear from me and I booked a table at a time that was not available online.

    • i bet you want to dine in on 4th of June !

      • Whats so special about 4th of June?

        • 1989 is pretty special too.

    • Not true. I happen to be seeing this when it first went live, there were many spots (a restaurant I like in Melbourne), but this afternoon I try looking again the slots are gone

  • +1

Just had 50% off at one of the restaurants listed - thanks OP!

    • Curious, which one?

  • great

  • Went last night to one in Melb. If it was original price it was definitely overpriced for what we got, but 50% off made it really worth it! Highly recommend :)

    • Where did you go?

      • +1

        Dee Casa in Southbank

  • Booked 50% off so many times in Sydney over the last 3-4 years.
Never had an issue redeeming the offer - tried Baia (Darling Harbour), Zaafran (Darling Harbour), some nice restaurants in Woolloomooloo, and Absolute Thai in Hornsby

    • Too bad Most of 50pct are weekdays….

    • Did you have to do anything special when you booked?

  • Baia and Cafe del mar have both changed to only 30% now WTF?

    • well they can change anytime

  • Trying this for the first time. Used the referral and got a 1000 yums. I'm new to this sytem.
Going to The Colonial British Indian Cuisine Neutral Bay. Give it a whirl. I have order confirmation that I have the -50% off offer.
I will mention the offer to the wait staff when we are seated.
I had to change the booking, so it's just for 2 people, at a specific time (much later than our usual dinner time) so let's see what becomes of the night.

    • +1

This went off quite well. I didn't mention the discount when we were seated. It wasn't too crowded. It was quite expensive for the portions though. A meal for two with no drinks came up to $100. The platter's weren't really platters in terms of quantity. Quality was quite good! There was something odd tasting about the potatoes though.

The waitstaff applied the discount after checking with me if it was at the right % of discount. Gave them a large tip. Really good service there.

  • Just booked Cafe Del Mar for the 30th of June @ 50% off.
    Here goes!
