        +1 for the effort.

I just used a card on shopback for the $3 promo without any issues. Shopback seems to block prepaid cards when you churn through a lot of them in a short period of time, otherwise it works fine. Or maybe they block any cards when you keep adding new cards, which only becomes an issue for prepaid cards anyway.

      • shopback works no dramas

  • Is it safe to leave Special on Gpay for any futute purchases? I'm thinking for shopping at Aldi later on

    • I think Gpay is probably more secure than carrying a plastic card around, so I would leave it on Gpay. But I would hold out on buying a futute until later in the year, as I heard that a much better version is due out any second now

  • Great deal, just used the Super Shopper Gift Card to purchase a $100 Shopback Gift Card, no issues.

  • Are split payments allowed at checkout?

    • +1

yes, go to any coles or woolies. i've done it numerous times using remaining gift card balances

    • If you want suggestions for in-person merchants that allow split payments, have a look at this comment.

      • If I want to purchase 3x $50 gift cards using cash and $135 Special gift card at Coles/Woolies, do I need to press split payment for first cash then card?

Do I need to have the exact cash on me $15 or can I key into the system that I only want to use $15 cash and feed in a $20 note, pay the $135 from Special gift card and the system will refund me $5 cash in the end?

        • +3

          If you’re at Woolworths:

          • You can do split payments for purchases of gift cards at a self-service checkout, and you can redeem multiple cards if you want.

          • You can also do split payments for purchases of gift cards at a serviced checkout, but if the Woolworths you’re at has self-service checkouts, you might as well go through the self-service checkouts if they’re open.

          If you’re at Coles:

          • You can only do split payments at a self-service checkout if you select Cash first, put in the exact amount of cash you want to pay, go back to the payment screen and then select Card to pay the remaining amount owed. In your case, if you wanted to purchase 3x $50 gift cards and inserted $20 into the checkout, the checkout will only ask for $130 from a card. No change is possible (as far as I am aware).

          • In this scenario, you’re better off going to a serviced checkout, because Coles treats a Special gift card as a Mastercard, so all you need to do is ask the checkout operator “can you please do split payments, $135 on Card”, then “can I please pay the rest on Card” (or cash if that is your preference). You can use multiple Visa/Mastercard/AMEX/EFTPOS cards (+ cash, if that’s your preference) to pay for gift cards at a serviced checkout, as long as staff are happy to do that and know how to do that (which they should be). If you pay with a card first and then give excess cash for the remaining amount owed at the end (e.g. $20, even though the remaining amount owed is $15), you’ll receive change.

          • @WookieMonster: Split payments can’t be done at Coles for the prepaid Mastercard and Visa cards, right? I’m assuming you’re talking about regular gift cards here.

            • +1

@MiscOzB: My earlier comment is in reference to any gift cards sold at Coles (e.g. Coles gift card, JB Hi-Fi gift card, TCN gift card, Ultimate gift card, Coles Gift Mastercard, Vanilla Visa gift card).

              • @WookieMonster: Ahh, I thought it’s been said previously that it’s not possible and that full payment including activation fee must be covered by a single payment.

So for example, 2x $100 Coles Mastercards could be bought with one $134 Special card followed by a second Special card for the remaining $76?

                • +1

@MiscOzB: I originally thought that you could not do split payments at all at any Coles self-service checkout. However, during the 10% off Vanilla Visa gift card deal in Feb 2022, one of the staff members at my local store told me that split payments for gift cards was possible at self-service checkouts if and only if cash was used to partly pay the amount owed, then one card (or Coles gift card, if you’re lucky) was used to pay for the remaining amount owed.

                  To go with your example:

                  • If you go to a self-service checkout, you won’t be able to complete the purchase, as you cannot use two cards as payment. You can only one card + cash (or if you’re lucky, one gift card + cash).

                  • If you go to a serviced checkout, you can use the two Special cards to pay for the Coles Gift Mastercards, as checkout assistants are able to do split payments for any purchases (including purchases of gift cards).

    • Sorry I was asking about split payments when checking out at Special.com.au but I just tried and found out you can't

  • Anyone else not getting the verification code sent for adding to Apply Pay? Tried both email and text but not receiving anything.

      • Yea I read earlier, seems that it's only just started happening today as there were no reports of it happening to anyone else on previous days (yours seems to be the first).

I now only get the option to "Call Special" for the cards in Wallet when selecting a verification method, so I'll have to try contacting them tomorrow.

Was planning on using the cards to buy a few $100 Coles Gift Mastercards for the 2k points offer this week (which ends tomorrow).

Edit: Looks like I'll have to email them instead, as they don't have a contact number listed on their site.

        • I emailed them yesterday and yet to get their reply. I hope that you have better luck with them.

  • What do you think if I register 2$ sim card to purchase 2 more card, as I have 2 more debit cards?

      Same.

      • Oh! I’m not the only one! I got multiple cards in my account, are you bought multiples cards also? Did you contact customer care? I’m so worried now😟

    • +1

You probably have too many family members who are so generous and gift every single card to you. My family members prefer to keep the cards to themselves. Shame on them.

      • You are right!!!!

        which woolworths?

Okay so this might be a bit of a special case, but I no longer have access to my account, and I had stored about 14 or so gift cards on it worth $133 each. I used maybe about 8 or 9 of them before I lost access, and I only kept the details of one of them (with some credit remaining) in my Amazon account.

I haven't been able to log on for the whole of today, and support has not gotten back to me yet. I attempted to use the card I had stored in my amazon account to buy something, but it said that the payment method no longer existed, or something along those lines. I'm not too sure what the outcome is going to be, but I'm not exactly happy with how things are going. Will update when there's something to update with.

    • nothing special if many others here have the same problem

      • Only saw mention of people not being able to access their accounts. I didn't see anyone say that they couldn't use their gift cards still, that is why I said might.

    • +2

I had stored about 14 or so gift cards on it worth $133 each

You put all your eggs in one basket there.

Are you able to access any of the different accounts you would have created for the $20 discount on each card?

support has not gotten back to me yet

Do not count on it as they must be hammered with similar requests / enquiries.

      • +2

The poor guy doesn't know the basic pro tip of use each card fully before next purchase :)
You can only get caught with your pants down on 1 max .

        • Wouldn't usually expect to not be able to access my account or even use the card I had the details of all of a sudden.

          • @Traffic Cones: If you’re getting so many cards in one account, expect red flags and just one block on your account would block all your cards mate.

        • You can only get caught with your pants down on 1 max

Pro tip: don’t remove your clothing whilst making online purchases

          • +1

@tharlow: Another tip, all my family and friends prefer to send the card to themselves. Some of them used to be generous and sponsored other family members just like the drive-thru "pay it forward", but apparently special gc doesn't appreciate such kind of generosity.

            • -1

@truetypezk: Well… have we reached the peak of self-absorbedness? I’ve always thought it was more rewarding to give than to receive, but it never occurred to me that I could be the giver and the receiver! Double the pleasure, you might say.

Who is more “special” than yourself?, one might think. Could there be anyone more deserving? Such is the dilemma of the most biased among us. In the me, me, me times that we find ourselves living in these days, I think it’s more crucial than ever to remember that we’re unique — just like everybody else

      • I tried a few of them, but not every single one. I am able to make a new account using the same phone number I used for my main account though, which is weird. And yes, I get that they must be being bombarded with requests right now. I am not expecting them to get back to me instantly

        • +1

You are now creating accounts with the same phone no., even more red flags here mate!

Please don’t spoil this for everyone.

          • @ilovefullprice: Nah, I didnt make any new accounts with the same phone number. Every account I made used a different phone number, I was just testing it, without following through

        • +1

Yes their system allows you to make new account using the same phone number. But their system blocks you from using the promo code if that phone number is linked to an account that has already used the promo code before.

      • Oh! Same same! Did you received any reply yet?

    • What are you worrying about? The worst-case scenario is for them to cancel and refund all your purchases. You don't actually lose anything other than your time. They can't possibly keep your original money, and you always have the option of lodging a chargeback.

      • +1

Admittedly, I have a habit of worrying too much about things that I can't change anyway. Will just have to be patient I guess.

    • Same, 133x14
      Blocked account by special

      • You have activated 14x $133 discounted GCs under one account purchased using 14 separate accounts???

        • no, my account bought one, another received from family members accounts

          • @Kathiepink: It could be that because 14 gift cards were activated under one account, Special's system has blocked that one account either due to too many attempts to login or being marked as suspicious activity. It's not uncommon for payment systems to have both that kind of checks. They just need to manually unblock the account. Since you've already contacted them, hopefully they can resolve your issue when they get to you in their queue.

            • +1

@Alinnia: They didn’t reply email! I contacted them yesterday, manager said investigate get back to me within 24 hours, didn’t receive any reply after, I contacted this morning again, she said—
We have noticed unusual activity on your account. To allow us to investigate it further we have placed a temporary block on your account. This means you will be unable to conduct any further transactions until we can resolve the issue.

              • +1

@Kathiepink: So that confirmed it's due to the second reason I listed. Since a large number of gift cards were purchased and activated under one account in such a short time frame, it got flagged as unusual activity. Companies have these kind processes in place to stop payment frauds.

You'll need to wait until someone manually investigates, gives the green tick and unblock your account.

Next time to prevent these kind of headaches, I would recommend to split the gift cards activation on different accounts if it's such a large number. As their system marked your account with a red flag which indicates 14 gift cards is too many to be activated under one account in just a few days.

    • Received this email. Will try either get my account back or dispute the transactions with my bank. No idea what the outcome will be but I guess for now I just don't have access to my account

After conducting an internal investigation on your account activity we wish to advise that we have closed your account. In accordance with clause 25 of our terms and conditions, we have deemed your activity to be outside reasonable use.

Whilst we understand your frustration we need to adhere to our internal policies and procedures to maintain the integrity of our services.

      • +1

        Looks like thats GG…

        Chargeback is the only way.

      • If they closed our account and no refund doesn’t make sense!!!!!

      • +1

I received same msg as you, and I ask how about my money, they no refund!
We have deemed your activity to be outside reasonable use and a breach of our terms and conditions. As such, we are unable to provide you with a refund given we need to ensure that the integrity of our services are maintained.

      • Hey, I'm in a similar situation.. It would appear they have disabled accounts with multiple purchases. No refund or restoration of access, basically theft.

        • We need to take this mob to the accc and tribunals.

  • I recieved 4 out of 5 purchases with 5 different emails and phone number. 1 of them never arrived even the status was delivered. I tried to contact them via chat but no response 😭. I tried to stack it with virginmoney . oh my bad why it isnt coming yet

    • Be sure to check your Spam/Junk e-mail folder

      • I did, but on the app under my account, I can't see any special card there. But under the order, there was order being delivered 😭

        • +1

I am pretty sure you need to click on the link in the email to add the card to your account. It won't just appear in the recipient's account by itself. Yeah I find it stupid that there is no resend button which can easily solve these hiccups.

          • +1

@truetypezk: hell yeah thats true, turns out my card was in junk mail 😅 stupid me. sorry for a mess hahaha

            • @ivyholmes: Good for ya. Although I did receive all my cards but the thought of such possibility keeps haunting me when buying them.

  • Can buy more than 1 card to get the discount?

  • Anyone used the special gift card in Woolworths/Coles via Google Pay? Does it work?

    • yes it worked!

  • I got 2 more. Just as my Boost mobile sims came.

    What timing.

    Spend Special 15% $ 114 X 2 = $228 / $268 Value

    Crypto Cashback 2% / $ 4.56

    NRMA Woolworths Gift Cards 4% $134 X 2 / $139.58 x 2

    $279.16 + $4.56 = $283.72 Value for $228

    19.64% effective discount.

  • Has anyone lost their account?
For some reason i can't login, resetting password does not send me the code…

I'm 100% sure the password is correct. My phone account got logged out as well…

Luckily I used most of the $$$ but $10 is still $10

    • Has anyone lost their account?

How many accounts did you create?

They had disabled persistent login sessions from the start.

    • +1

I have 5*135$ sitting on my account

And I can't log in today

      Shits happening

      • Could you reset the password? I still can't…

        • Nothing I tried to reset as well..

          So worried 😔

          • @Ksavshs: Look at the comment at the bottom… Apparently it means that the account has been disabled

          • @Ksavshs: I am pretty worried too lmao. Posted an update to my situation above

  • I just purchased a second card with my original account. Discount applied.

    • Didn’t work for me just now

      • 3 days after my first purchase

        • +1

just tried now, didnt work for a 3rd purchase. Maybe there is a time delay between purchases

        • I bought mine on Friday.

        • Still doesn't work (completely new IP address).

It is one use of the promo code per account.

    • got an erorr promo code used already

  • I've just made 3 different accounts, using different emails and numbers and I'm still getting code already used, is this IP tracked now?

    • just used one of those accounts on a different IP, go figure

  • Super Shopper didn't work for me at Aldi, anyone else have this issue?

    • got same problem at bunnings, error "too many different card scanned at the same time". Will try it on different phone.

      • Maybe purchase the Bunning GC at SB and get another discount as well.

        • +1

          that's a good idea thanks.

    • I purchased something on Aldi, IKEA, and random Grocery shop, all works. However, yesterday I tried to purchased Pizza Hut (online) didn't work. My husband paid via Applepay on Maccas(eftpos) didn't work. Well maybe my card meant only for shopping over all. My card is super shopper. Again today I was going to purchase the body shop 20% off via Gpay didn't work neither Paypal.

      • Strange. I had used it just before at a clothing retailer with no issue, and also used it online at Amazon - not sure why Aldi rejected it (they accepted my other Google Pay card, so I figure it wasn't the terminal). Seems pretty hit or miss
