I have this grinder, and quite happy with it so far. I think it's the best grinder you can get with $129.

Did a few research and it seems the burr and other core components are identical among this grinder, the smart grinder, and the grinder part of the barista express?

  • +7

Is it one of those smart grinders that have an app? I hear lots of people find the app useful, esp for hooking up with other coffee-lovers.

    • +9

Yeah I use my grinder app every morning to get ahead of my day.

Excellent price, you won't get a better grinder at this price.

If you're a coffee need and want something better, then you should start at the Eureka Mignon, but that's easily $500-$600 more. Or around $250 for manual jx pro.

Na we at ozb buy our minon from espresso coffee shop

Adjust grind time by precise 1 second increments

That's not precise when it only takes seconds to grind enough coffee.

1 second could be the difference between not enough and to much.

      And life or death

haven't used this but you would normally weigh your beans anyway and grind for as long as it takes. the only issue is retention, so beans in doesn't equal grounds out.

      • -2

Why would you do that when the hopper has a 2L capacity

        • Because single dosing is the way - 1g makes all the difference

          • @The Hobo: If you're that sort of coffee drinker you wouldn't be looking at this deal. You'd be looking at gear more like the previous coffee machine deal :P

  • Thanks OP. Been waiting for this grinder to return to a sensible price, now I just need to decide which Breville machine to buy?

    • Buy an oracle so you don't have to bother with separate grinders

    • dual boiler, can find refurbished ones on ebay often

  • Breville Smart Grinder Pro - worth also considering.
Much more adjustable and has memory features which are very convenient.

A grinder is going to last a very long time and be used quite a lot, worth the investment imo.

As the 1st comment said & comments on old posts - the actual grinder is identical.

    • A grinder is going to last a very long time

I've had two Smart Grinders fail in their main drive gears. Luckily the second I got a warranty replacement just after the 2 year warranty, but longevity is not one word I'd use for them.

    Expired? Showing $219

  • It shows $219, was it a pricing error?

    • No.

      • Has the deal expired?

      • +1

I recon it was with those numbers mixed around

        • +1

Nah it was definitely $129 before, I was just about to order it and the price jumped up

          • +1

@Bytelover: If it's in your cart already the price should still be the same. It was for me just now.

          • +2

@Bytelover: Yeh I beleive it was that price, what Im saying is it might have been published by amazon at the wrong price, look st the camel history, it hasnt been that cheap in a long time

            • @MaccDogg: Doesn't matter anyway, Amazon don't have a history of pulling out of sales because they made an price error.

              • @WatchNerd: Its just a shame i missed out is all i thought i had more time to think about it

                • @MaccDogg: The 1st rule of Ozbargain is to buy first & think later.

                  Thanks for posting dingdong.

  • Thanks OP, ordered 1

Not sure why I was negd by a sour (profanity), no point in being jealous, you snooze you lose😂

  • This vs the EM0440/480 which is better?

This sux. I had fallen asleep when the price was first posted and by the time I woke up maybe four or so hours later it had expired. Amazon must have had VERY limited stock for what was half price and a guaranteed sale from me. PITA. Oh well. Thanks to OP for posting it.
