Has to be 30gb data plan or above.

        A bit of an update: the rep told me they were told not to take any more orders as the device won't be available before the offer period ends on 26 May so as long you managed to get a confirmation order number, you should be right. We won't get it for 6-7 weeks

        the 64gb link works but when added to the cart is says "The product is currently out-of-stock.". the 128gb link works

      • Placed an order using this link which seems to have gone through, however I can see in the contract that the SIM no and IMEI no are blank. Shouldn't those fields be filled in?

        • Well, they have not fullfiled your order yet, hence you are not able to see yet. Probably wait for few more days.

    • I placed my order on the day of the deal being posted and the chat has just told me the same thing. Doesn't seem like many will actually get this deal.

      • As an edit to this comment, I decided to try again with a different support person and they instead just asked me some questions about my identification and updated my driver's license info on file and processed the order and I now have a bunch of emails regarding the order, so it looks like I might actually be scoring a tablet.

  • Just off Optus Chat progressing my order from "Temporary" to confirmed. Took a while - about an hour - wanted to be sure of everything regarding the contract.

    Bloke told me that they couldn't upgrade my existing data-sim service service to this, it needed to be processed as a new order. I will jsut cancel my existing data-sim plan when that happens - that will achieve the same financial outcome - and I *might" qualify for cashback in this case as a new order. Just means that I probably lose Amazon Prime from my SubHub service, although that was due to run out in mid-year anyway.

    Let's see when this thing arrives now….I won't be buying a case until I get a shipping order though!!!

      I haven't received a confirmation email for my order yet. (New optus signup here)

      Just spoke to a rep in chat, took half an hour for them to tell me my order was confirmed and would be delivered in the next 3-5 days. They even wrote me an email confirming this..

      When I asked for a copy of the contract, they then backtracked and stated my order hadn't gone through because I hadn't sent in my is for the credit check, which I was never prompted to do.

      Really doesn't inspire confidence in their online chat staff…

        I would take all their comments very lightly..

        I had a rep tell me my order was 'in transit' literally an hour after my order was placed… After telling him that was impossible (so quickly & on a Sunday) he backtracked & said;

        "apologies, after looking into this further, I will need to transfer you to an expert in this area"

    I had so much FOMO with this deal. I have no need for a tablet at all (I have an iPad I hardly ever use) but it was so tempting to get it anyway. I didn’t get it, but now that it’s out of stock, I regret not getting it, even though I don’t need it. I wonder if anyone else goes through this bargain-envy. And not to mention the hours I have wasted reading through this thread checking to see if Optus will honour the deal. Just part of being an ozbargainer I guess lol.

      You'll know you have evolved as a seasoned OzBargainer when you're finding yourself bypassing the stage of considering whether to buy or not, and going straight to executing the purchase and thinking about it later on.

      Very similar situation here. Had no real need for a tablet and also own an underused iPad. Having read a fairly thorough review of this A8 though, it seems to be a great media viewer, so can load up on movies/tv series before travelling, which is the plan soon. Apparently the A8 speakers are reasonably good stereo and loudness too, so a reasonable device for hotel rooms etc.
      FOMO ended up winning over common sense on this occasion.
      If nothing else, at least the 30GB of data will be useful.
      At least, that’s how I justify it…..

      I also don't need a tablet, i own an ipad before, rarely use it as well. But feel like if don't get this deal, i will be missing out. Saw this deal went online in the afternoon, keep telling myself that i don't need but at the end, surrender myself to ozbargain, lol.. just thinking of so much bargain out of this deal, should worth it. Optus sport, amazon prime, 30Gb data, and tablet, lol.. at the moment, just waiting game whether i will receive the tablet.

  • When Optus delivers this, does the courier ask for the last 4 digits of the drivers license number? Because I know that for the more expensive devices they are required to ask

      • That's so odd, my brother had a iPhone 13 pro max delivered from Optus on launch day and they asked for last 4 digits of the drivers license. courier was StarTrack, how about yours?

    • Ordered this on the same day deal was created. I wanted to change the delivery name to my partners name because I am travelling overseas this week.
      Had a chat with Optus rep. they asked me for my partners drivers licence last 4 digits. He mentioned that will the passcode to the delivery guy. So I am guessing its up to star track guys to verify licence or just ask passcode or not bother at all to verify.

    Just making sure about plan cancellation after 12 months.

    So given that this is a postpaid plan, we get charged at the end of the month or monthly billing priod, correct?

    So, we'd have to cancel during the 12th month of the plan, before the last bill, to not be strung on for an extra month of $25, is that correct?

    Because the last thing I want to do is cancel too early and have to pay for the damn device lol.

      you should get charged in advanced. your invoice will show how many device repayments you have made. once you have received your last bill (device repayment 12/12) you can cancel.

      • Right I see. So when my order gets processed I'll be charged immediately for the upcoming month / next 30 days, instead of paying it afterwards?

        • i think they invoice you when the next billing period occurs. when i signed up my billing period got adjusted to the end of the month. i think i read somewhere in the correspondence that if your sim arrives before the first billing period then data usage is free up til then. so if your sim arrives wednesday then you might get a couple of days free until the end of the month and you receive your first invoice for may sometime around the start of the month and have about 2 weeks to pay

          in my experience delivery is blindingly fast, next day if order placed before 12pm. so i imagine things will get processed on tuesday and delivery on wednesday unless there is some massive backlog for samsung tablets :)

          in your optus account there is an option for seeing how much it costs to cancel a plan, so just wait until that says $0

    I got given a temporary order, but I only realised that I should've called them straight away rather than wait when it was too late.
    Just went into store and they couldn't give me the original deal but got the tablet and sim on the spot for $25/month.
    Figured it was still a good deal at that price and I'll try and argue the toss when they follow up with the online temporary order.

          Well built, nice screen and quick enough. Samsung also had a couple of software updates already once turning on. Pretty happy with it even at this price and at $12.50/month it's a steal.

  • I was at JB for something else and spotted this tablet. I thought the build is really good. Not too sure about the screen though. With my very limited time I did not notice any pixelation on texts but have found the colours muted

    • they are trying to suck you into a 36 month contract with them when you can get the phone for $1.50 a month for 12 months instead and be stuck with them for less time for basically the same amount of money.
      the phone deal has been around longer than the tablet deal and isn't popular since you are stuck paying full price which is not good deal at all

  • Got temp order number on 23/4. Contacted today online help
    1st chat - no stock. Wait for further instructions
    2nd chat - informed me that order didn't go through at all. temp order number shows nothing.
    3rd chat - wait for 5-6 days without checking order number
    4th chat - placed new order over chat (matched with original temporary order) verified id, terms and conditions, payment setup etc. Got order confirmation ending with A. Got chat reference id. Sent chat history in email. Was told ETA 1 - 3 days

    Will see what happens this week

        Use myoptus app and the tablet is still there.

    • I think most important is to receive the sms confirmation, that means your tablet is actually on its way, the email is only confirming the order, haven't received the sms yet

  • I got an email from optus asking to call them over the weekend. Spoke to an agent today and they processed my order. My email address did not match my official Optus email hence the temporary order.

          I read somewhere in the comments that the app order shows as cancelled where you had a temporary order number that turned into an actual order number.

      Not gonna happen, as it's a bundle they cannot just go and do it. If Optus is to void the tablet, they will void the entire contract which includes the data plan.
