Plumrose Spiced Ham 340g $2.50 (Was $5.70) @ Woolworths

200

I don't normally post grocery deals but saw this in store and decided to post, as it's a pretty good price.

Decent tasting alternative to SPAM, worth a shot at $2.50 and if you haven't tried it before.

Quite a few other Plumrose products are also on sale:

Mm might give it a shot.

Had fried spam for breakfast today, so good such an underrated food item.

This is tastier than spam I think.. A lot less saltier

      • I disagree but Plumrose is much cheaper and tastes almost as good.

        • Fried some up yesterday for some midday munchies, Was good enough that I may use it some left over rice tomorrow, With mangos and peas… Hmm. Yes. Still say its tastier than spam when fried.. Less salty.

      • the spiced plumrose has more pork than the canned plum rose ham reading the ingredients …… bought a can to try …..must stop being a bacon snob and try spam and plum rose again i recall used to like it when camping…

i think the frankfurt were pork and chicken (?) .

        • Yeah but spiced is made in the USA, all the others are Netherlands.. Has to be quality pork right… (and chicken….!)

Spam is an alright alternative to bacon or sausage for simplicity sake and wont curl/puck-up when fried, but its probably worse for you.

      • sausages vs spam ….in some instances there is more meat in spam than sausages …..spam vs bacon ….more meat in bacon ……. worse for you ? .a lot of the additives like nitrates are also in bacon to preserve it , so except for salt content it might not be more unhealthy compared to other deli options to go with eggs for breakfast.

  • Haven't personally tried any of the other Plumrose products besides their SPAM equivalent, which does taste pretty similar to the actual thing. 2 of these at this price cost less than 1 can of actual SPAM when at RRP.

    The frankfurts are gross imo.

Yeah, they don't look the most appealing. Any canned sausage probably won't taste or feel the best lol. Haven't tried them, don't plan on doing so either any time soon!

      • read ingredients of the frankfurt’s …pork and chicken not just pork …..

    Oh god canned hot dogs.

As far as tinned meat goes, the ham is okay. Good to have something shelf stable that isn't tuna/salmon on hand. Could never imagine wanting to buy those hot dogs though.

    • Got a tin in the pantry for just in case!
