    • I thought it was just me. The Sumatra from a couple of years ago was one of my favourites. This one was not up to the same level of deliciousness as the first. Still very drinkable.

    • Great stuff! Thank you itstuan.
Please let us know what you think.

    Hey Dan,

Is there an option to purchase and delay the order being shipped for 2 weeks or so?
Still working thru a bag of beans.

    • Same here

Would also love to delay the shipping - is that possible @Dan

      • Sorry dimple. As above, the only option we have for scheduling or delaying is through our subscription orders. Not on these sales.

        Cheers
        Dan.

    • Sorry Vic no delay options on these sales.
You can schedule deliveries with our subscription orders but not these ones.

      Cheers

Sorry to spoil the party, but I was quite unimpressed with the Sumatra blend I ordered. I have a high quality ECM Synchronica machine that makes a great coffee.
Did a back to back with tha Airjo and my normal Columbia blend from Aldi ( I think that is from 4 square roasters in Richmond Melbourne) the Aldi coffee was great, and is my go to beans. The Sumatra lacked crema and no real depth of flavour - rating 6/10 …… Aldi 8/10. Aldi frequently hits high marks with the Choice Consumer testing, and given the pricepoint it's outstanding value. These single country blends are their best, and have a coloured patchwork stripe on the side of the 1Kg packs.

Their other cheaper blends are a bit ordinary, ok about 5/10, I avoid!. I have no connection with Aldi, but love good coffee, and after trying a range of other coffee's from high
$55 down to mid market - the premium Aldi blends have a lot going for them at around $15.

Still expecting lots of down votes!!!.

    • Hey there hassel I appreciate your feedback. We can’t expect to hit 10/10 for everybody. We appreciate you giving us a shot.

      Cheers
      Dan

    • Stupid question where/how to grind coffee beans without a grinder.
I have been using Nespresso pods, never tried coffee beans at home and am thinking maybe it is time to switch.

      • Hey there ky.
You can order it ground from us.
Just choose the appropriate grind from the drop down menu when you order based on what kit you are using.

If you need help just shoot me a message through email [email protected] or use the chat app on the we.

        Hope that helps.
        Cheers
        Dan

        • Cool, which grind type is good for Bialetti Moka Express Coffee Maker?

          • @ky1975: Hey ky - apologies for the late reply - you will need the "Stovetop Grind".

            Thanks
            Dan

1Zpresso JX Pro handgrinder will do everything you need.
You can't make good coffee at home without a good grinder.
Preground coffee goes stale quickly after opening.

        • Thanks I will take a look.

Aldi beans are profiled and roasted for an easier extraction for the average consumer. I also struggled to get a good extraction from Sumatra last time I ordered it but if it's probably technique. You might benefit from a much longer pre-infusion or higher temps. I should give it another go but not with 1kg.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of robust discussion here on the OzBargain forums only neg votes, would be good if those who are quick with a mouse click could find a voice and post a valid reply as well.

    • +1

You're on the wrong forum for that. Anything more than a brain fart gets a TL;DR response.

  • +1

    yes

  • Perfect timing, thanks!!

I've tried both Enterprise and Sumatra blends. Enterprise, while smooth and delicious to drink, lacked the strength. I often had to do double shot each time I drink Enterprise. Sumatra was basically Enterprise with a bit more caffeine.

I want to try your darker blends next. What would you recommend for something that has a strong and bold flavour, preferrably high in caffeine but flavour comes first, that doesn't leave a sour after taste in the mouth? Twilight?

    • Hey there piddits. Twilight is one of our lighter blends actually. You would more likely find what you are looking for with the Stargazer or Thunderchild blends. They are our darker roasts.

I hope that helps and thanks for asking.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • I still have around 300gr for my sumatra blend but my Enterprise will be done this week. Is there any discounts for the Enterprise please?

    • Not right now super but keep an eye on your emails for sales coming up.

      Thanks
      Dan

      • Aight then, ill get a kilo the Sumatra for now. But please get Enterprise for the next promotion.
        Cheers!

      • Or you could just tell them about the discount they get by scanning the QR code on the front of the coffee packet.

    • Scan the QR code on the front of your coffee bag and it gives you a discount 25% I think.

  • what a timing,, mine is finished,, thanks OP

    • Great stuff ssd01. Thank you.

  • Hi Dan,

I bought Sumatra last year and struggled to extract it well - is it possible to roast things longer myself? Or does that completely destroy the coffee? Out of curiosity, how do you settle on a roast profile for these blends?

    • Grind finer and use higher heat and brew for longer?

    • Hi Jatacid.
      I wouldn’t recommend re-roasting a blend.
I can definitely help you with extraction setup when you are dialling in the blend.
If you feel you want one roasted a litter darker I would recommend the Enterprise Blend. It’s not a dark roast as such but it is a little darker than the Sumatra.

Whatever you are trying just shoot me a message when setting up if you want some feedback.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Might be time to buy me some beans to use with my new coffee machine that is on the way. Mostly drink long blacks with the odd milk drink, ie flat white. I know this is subjective, but a good blend for our drinking habits?

    • Really interested to know what others use for espresso/long blacks from @airjo coffeeroasters, cos it is time for new bean supplier.

      • For long blacks, I like lighter/medium roasts. Airjo Sumatra is nice for that

Literally just poured the last of the previous kilo of Sumatra into the machine & mentioned to the HnK we need coffee ASAP…glad I checked OzBargain! So stoked to see this deal!

  • Just ordered last week 😭😭

  • What a timing!

Just finished our last order, another Sumatra ordered!

  • @AIRJO CoffeeRoasters, just a stupid question (no question is stupid though :D)…
Does it have an expiration date?
I want to purchase 3-4 packs and bring them back home in Europe after 4 months. Will the coffee loses its flavour, smell and quality after 4 months or should I wait for the next promotion?

    Regards

    • +1

      Hey duffer - it's a great question! :)
Short answer is yes indeed you will loose freshness, flavour, smell and quality after 4 months.
It will still be great coffee compared to other 4 month old coffee :)

The ultimate is to consume it in the first week or 2 from roasting, after that, depending on how you store it, the quality will slowly deteriorate over time losing it's "magic".

The best option for you would be to order as close as you can to departure and keep them cool and dry where you can.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Thanks! I've set a calendar reminder to check your website in the beginning of August - 10 days before departure ;)
        Cheers!

        • Recent packs have a QR code for 25% off your next order

  • tried it the first time and I enjoyed it. However, I don't own a grinder so bought pre-ground espresso. Is there a chance it can be ground finer?

    • +1

Hi aurotaro - I would like to help you with whatever you are looking to improve there - please shoot me an email [email protected] and we can whip through the specifics of your setup.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Ahhh - these always seem to pop up just after I make an order! Great coffee though, and at a great price. I'd recommend both the Sumatra and the Enterprise blend!

    • Sorry the timing wasn't for you this time marrk05 - Thanks so much for the feedback and recommendation. Hopefully we time it for you net time!

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Usually order Sumatra and guess managed the grind size and amount fairly good after some time.

How would Stargazer behave in comparison? E.g. lighter and therefore less grams required etc.?

    • Hey there Marcx33 - the best way to be honest is to just go through a dialing in process of trying what you think will work (based on your knowledge and experience with your gear) and then continue to tweak settings until you nail it. If you want some help working through that when you are dialing in just shoot me an email [email protected] and we can work through it.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Do you do delayed shipping by chance? Apologies if I missed it in the previous comments

    • +1

Gunnar apologies for the delayed reply (not the delay you were looking for).
The only option we have for scheduling the timing of orderrs is through our subscription service.
Otherwise these ones get ordered, processed and shipped asap.

      Thanks for asking.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • YESSSS Sumatra on sale again exactly when I need it! • Well now you have us all up in all the feels n stuff wensell lol. Thaks so much for the love.

  • Dumb question but as someone new to coffee and have my own French Press do I just get the Plunger Grind?

    • +1

Not a dumb question at all Menzoberranzan.

      Short answer…..yes :)

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Thanks. Got a 500g bag to try out. what other types would you recommend if I wanted to try something sweet?

  • good timing, just emptied the last of the beans from previous deal into the grinder this morning.

    • We were waiting for you steve :)

Thanks so much for your order.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • First order placed and looking forward to it - taking the opportunity for a short break from home roasting.

When should I expect to receive the order (WA 6021) ?

What’s the min resting for this batch of Sumatra beans and period post roast when the beans are at their best ? It’s subjective but if this info is available, would be great reference. Cheers

    • Hey there Ezecof - thanks so much for your order.
Express shipping would normally be a day or 2 to WA.
Buy the time the beans get to you they should be rested enough to jump straight in.

Super keen to hear how they go for you.

      Thanks again.
      Dan

  • Missed the Lime Blue. Ordered this for the first time. Lets see how it goes.

    • +1

      Thanks for the order dande!

  • How traceable are these beans? Do you know the farmer/co-ops who contribute to the blend?

    • Hey there Anders - great question thank you.
As part of our ACO Australian Organic Certification, all of our beans need to be 100% traceable back to origin.

Hope that helps and thanks again for asking.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • I ordered the Sumatra for the first time. What's the best grind size for the Breville Barista Express?

    Thanks.
