    $10 shipping to VIC.

Is it going to get any cheaper than this? It looks like this is already below the MSRP of $329 US?

    • +5

Of course it will. Also keep in mind that AMD raised msrp from $279 US because of crypto. It entirely depends if people hodl or not. If there's a lot of people left without cards who will pay $400 then it won't drop further for at least couple weeks/months. If most people won't pay that much they will drop. It all depends how regularly they are cleared off the shelf. What we've seen over the past year was extreme demand not supply shortage. Now eth/demand has dropped stock is available and funnily enough prices dropped too.

The $279 was for xt version too. Lots of room to go down provided high prices aren't normalized by consumers.

        sounds like reverse market collusion.

      • +2

We are so close to acceptable prices.

    • +8

Remember the time when MSRP = No deal price, then special prices were like 20% lower…
      soon…

    • It will. These cards were getting 10% cheaper per 2 weeks, and have only started showing signs of slowing during the last 3 wweek. Expect the price to be lower than 380AUD in a month, which was the price of the 5600xt right before the market went crazy.

    • The AMD RDNA 2 refresh cards is meant to release on May 10. I bought a RX6600 XT for $501 but I'm not going to open the box until then in case the price drops much further. I think wait a bit after that and then buy as if you wait too long you might miss the chance to buy the cards forever.

      • 6600xt uses less power then the 6650xt..its a trade off for what you care about more.. only real change is faster memory clocks

        • My thinking is they are probably just discounting these cards so they can clear stock and make room for the newer ones which will cost more. I don't think it's entirely because of crypto but I could be wrong.

Supposedly this card is around 70% faster in 1440p than my RX 480 that I bought for $350… six years ago!!

    Disappointing perf/$ increase.

    • +8

Nvidia/.AMD have stagnated performance since 2016. My $350 GTX 970 was 300% faster than my $180 GTX 560. That was over only 3 years.

8 years later I need to spend $1000 on a 3070ti to gain a 300% performance increase over the gtx 970. Lol

Imagine the price this coming EOFY sale, sure will be under $400 by then

    • +2

Which is what it should've always been. Now it's end of gen. GTX 1060 was a strong 1080p card of its time for $340, this rx6600 is a weak 1080p card of it's time. Arguably 1440p should've replaced 1080p by now not the reverse.

I'd be more interest in the XT/3060 for sub $450 and the 3060ti (2080s) for low $500's.

    • +1

I will even be brave enough to guess it'll be 350 + bonus by then. We're still in the midst of the price dropping naturally. While AMD has yet to release the refresh (which they supposedly have alot of and a new, lower msrp, according to Moore's Law). There's also a slew of used gpu of this class that are still floating out there, still haven't adjust for the new prices yet.

These cards have alot of suffering to make up for lol.

worst place to be asking this, but where did all the Usenet deals go

    • There's a massive one on atm for 1Tb Block deals for $7 USD :)

      • i had too many incomplete downloads like 5 years ago and since gave up on usenet..

        • yeah its a bit like that hey

        • +1

That is the reason I gave up on it too. I am surprised usenet still gets so many DMCA'd files with how arcane and secluded it is.

  • How does this compare with a GTX 1080? Looking to upgrade at some point

    • +2

Maybe 15-20% faster. Not really worth it.

    • +4

Don't look at this class of card, it's similar class, with about 15% faster if the drivers are good. The 3060ti or 6700xt is what you're looking for

    • It's about the same as a 2070, I wouldn't bother if I had a 1080. Just grit your teeth for the next 5 months and then jump into a 40xx or 7x00 XT

  • 6600 is a downgrade from 1080

    • Side grade with the 6600 being 10-15% faster while using way less power.

Its a very good replacement card if needed

And the 6600xt beats a 1080ti at way less power used
