    • yeah my bad title is fixed! first time posting lol

  • fixed mistake in the title

  • If I have an Echo Show 5, does this do anything new or different for me, or?

    • No. If you want a discrete Alexa device in another room then it is good.

Don't expect amazing sound, but for sleep stories or meditation music it's sufficient.

aux out into a decent system and sound quality is great

        • This is true, I'm using an old 2nd Gen Dot with a non-smart AV Receiver for this purpose.

    • echo show has touch screen, the dot does not.
pretty sure echo show will have everything echo dot does.
i use echo dot as hidden out of sight smart assistant device around the house.

Also $39 at Woolies and Amazon directly as well.

Price might be good right now, but not great… They were $20 at Xmas time.

    • Got 2 for $19 each at JB that time. Wait and see someone would give you a medal forbyour comment. Lol

  • I am using it as a speaker for my old iPad, if it is idle for too long when you play something it will announce 'playing from X's device' , this is very annoying and cannot be turned off

  • Bunnings: we'll beat it by 10%.

Office Works was selling the 3rd Gen for $17.88 each just before Christmas.

Good units if you are in the Alexa smart home environment. Decent sound and music, excellent pick up of voice input.

I have 6 around the house. Great for streaming music or giving Alexa instructions anywhere in the house.

I find them better than my Echo Show which is only useful for displaying my cameras.

    • Did you fund they have a noticeable delay if you have two set up in stereo across the room, like both not sure which one to take the order?

      • I haven't gone the way of pairing them in stereo. I just wanted to walk around the house and have the music appear to 'follow' me as I have virtually a speaker in all of the main rooms. They all appear to be matched and play the music simultaneously.

  • I got three in January at $17.88 each.
Ended up returning two of them for a 'change of mind' refund.
I might have found them more useful if they were portable or had a less-than-enornous plug - I'd intended using them as a stereo pair. Sound of one isn't better than the multitude of portable BlueTooth speakers I have.

I barely get any use out of the one I kept - the kids ask it to tell them jokes sometimes.

    • Put one in the kitchen. It is great for adding things to your shopping list as you think of them, or setting timers and reminders when cooking.

      • It's a nice idea, but I'm not really at that level of tech integration - I like a book, I like writing notes down, I like tangible things such as records and CDs… To me, LAN streaming seems an expensive way to do the same thing I can already do.
        I guess I'm just old :'(
If it was the version with the clock display it would be much better.

  • Maybe just me but my echo dots don't like echo's, set up in bathroom for shower music for multiple complete fails, also had nightmares trying to sync 3 dots, google nest much better on both counts, do prefer Alexa for ring and Xbox voice commands though
