  • This is great. Thanks.

  • I got 0.5% surcharge on my mastercard. How do you get 0% surcharge?

    • Pay with a debit card for no surcharge
Edit: oh I see the post says free for MasterCard.i also get 0.5% for mastercard

Paid via Google Pay, no surcharge.

        • +1

same with apple pay(credit card), no surcharge

        • It told me there's a surcharge right before it processes the transaction.
I remember there wasn't any surcharge with google pay before. They must've changed it.

It looks like Reward Gateway is surcharging some (but not all) Mastercard credit cards

For example, the following Mastercards do not attract a surcharge when they are added as a new payment card in the online checkout:

      • Commonwealth Bank Debit Mastercard
      • Coles Mastercard gift card
      • Westpac Altitude Platinum credit card
      • Westpac Altitude Black credit card

However, I then tried a BankWest Qantas Mastercard credit card and a Westpac BusinessChoice credit card, and both attracted a 0.5% surcharge.

      • +2

I have been paying on Qantas Money CC via Google Pay, and there is no surcharge. When added directly, it attracted 0.5%

      • +1

Tried Citi Prestige CC via Apple pay, no surcharge as well

  • Perkbox 4% no card surcharges inc Amex for those with access

It's wild the amount of people who will upvote a deal because they can save an extra 1%

    • +21

It's wild that every penny saved is every penny earned is hard to understand for some people.

      • +1

Probably because some people were born in the 90s/2000s and never used pennies

    • +4

The existing 3% off (which can be gotten via a few different methods) is useful and does not seem that widely known about. The extra 1% here is just a bonus.

If you're about to buy something on Amazon and have a way to easily save a further 3-4% then it seems wild that you wouldn't bother.

Thanks. Just in time for prime day

  • how does one get a membership?

    • +2

As per the link in the deal description to the past deal, Reward Gateway is an employee benefits program, and there are two ways you can gain access to it:

      1. Obtain membership through your employer (and they need to be subscribed to Reward Gateway before you can apply to access the program). Once you are given access, you can log into Reward Gateway through the dedicated website for your company, or the SmartSpending app on Apple iOS and Android devices.

      2. Purchase a membership for API Lifestyle & Leisure, which is available to anyone and their casual memberships start at $9.75 per month. However, if you choose to sign up for API Lifestyle & Leisure, access may not be granted instantly.

        Thank you.

  • I spent $1500 on the Amazon 10% off cards, just finished using all that credit recently. Not sure about 4%, I get that it's still a saving but is it worth tying up that much cash in Amazon credit for 4%…?

    • I guess it depends if you're planning to purchasing anything via amazon

    • i mean you just said yourself you spent all the 1500 already…so you should've gotten $3000 to tide you over! Instant win over a year even with interest rate…

      • … especially since I doubt 10% off Amazon gift cards would happen again anytime soon.

The only retailer that ran those deals (giftcards.com.au) stopped selling Amazon gift cards a few weeks ago.
