It's been quite a bit cheaper before, maybe best to wait?

    • That was around covid lockdown too i think.
You'd think it would be cheaper

    • i wish i could get them a that price rn

    • idk if these are 40kg all online reviews show 23kg each side

      • there are different types of adjustable dumbbells - some 23kg, some 40kg

I’m honestly more impressed that they assumed someone could easily do 40kg concentrated curls

They're more for the OHP or bench I would say

      • Yep, this. I have similar ones. Great for OHP, bench, stiff leg dead lifts, shrugs, etc.

was more suggesting the photoshopped stock photo of the dude doing the full 40kg

        • Oh yeah that would be pretty impressive!

    40kg a dumbell? 2 X 40kg?

These have dropped alot, I remember during Covid like $600-800

Seems like a pretty good price, but apparently if you drop them they break easily.

  • Any word on the quality?

Usually these cheap adjustables are built with plastic internals and break pretty easily, and are not recommended for overhead presses.

My mate also had a pair, never dropped them and still managed to break, so some weights werent useable.

    • I don't have this brand, but no issues with overhead presses. Had mine now for over 4 years with no problems.

I got this deal last time for 2 x 24kg.

It's fortis from kogan but this model but looks to be a different outer casing?

You are right about adjustables being easily broken. Definitely cannot throw them around. Even aligning them back into the holder you can feel the plates have a bit of wobble to them. I would not recommend using these for drop sets.

For OHP and chest fly I always make sure to never hit them together at top of the arc.
      Always place them down gently.
Ideally keep them inside. I kept mine outside under cover for about a month and they started to get some corrosion build up. Im not anywhere near salt water/salt air.

I also had the ones with the Red accent - BOTH the initial and the replacement sets broke on me (if the weight clicks over into the incorrect weight then it's impossible to move the adjustment knobs around). Now I just use a cheap barbell and sit it ontop of a pair of car jack stands.

I bought these during Covid to work out at home. Pretty good for their size, just don't drop them.

I accidentally dropped one of mine and it snapped a small part within the dumbbell rendering it useless - Kogan replaced under warranty which was nice of them.

The mechanism that secures the plates also has a tiny bit of play, so can be a little off putting doing curls at heavier weights etc.

Costing this much I'd want them to do the workout for me.

  • Anyone know where I can get some decent price Hex dumbells? Always like a house loan for a pair!

    • decent priced hex start from about $3.50/kg ..so unless you just need a few pairs it will end up costing a chunk of money anyway.

    • Kmart

  • yea dont need 40kg each, any deals for around 20kg?

    • Yeah

  • Smart or dumb - I'm confused. Maybe they're just average-bells.

Purchased just to see the delivery guy struggle.

    • He may use a trolley!

Order cancelled. Thanks for the heads up.

  • meh the reviews seem to be that they break easily even when not dropped or banged together on chest press.. i wish there was a bulletproof quality version of these adjustable dumbell for in home workouts

    • There are some good ones, but unless you can find a deal on market place, then be prepared to spend at least 1k.

      • do you know which brand name? i really dont have space for a full rack set. and these would be great for in room workout with a single bench

        • +1

          Ironmaster is the GOLD standard

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: that really takes alot more effort to add weights, not really automatic like this one, i think closest to this but higher quality is the "NÜOBELL Adjustable Dumbbells" found them for 560 dollars aus seller

        • They're all prone to breaking.

There's a YouTube video where some bloke reviews like 6-10 brands

Try find it, got no idea but search for adjustable dumbbells review.

        • Like the other guy said, ironmaster/power blocks are the one you would be looking for.
And if they are not what you are looking for, then you will need to find something else with Metal internals, as all these cheap ones use plastic/crap material which is why they are prone to break.

          Also bowflex are decent quality

  • This is really well priced for 40kgs x 2

Im tempted but yeah, these can break easily like any od these style of dumb bells! i can use 40kg easily, but I spose you wouldnt want to push a few last reps and drop them lol

    warranty?

    • +1

I think kogan warranty is included in purchase. Shows up on checkout screen

  • Cheaper now.
