  • What can you do use this for?

    • +5

It adds Bluetooth streaming to ‘dumb’ speakers or anything else with aux in. This looks quite similar to the taotronics ones that used to be always posted around here.

Edit I see this IS the taotronics lmao

  • Can this be used to be able to use Bluetooth headset on a switch?

    • Yes switch to transmit

    • Switch got updated to be able to connect Bluetooth directly without an adapter?

      • +1

This transmitter has AptX Low Latency though, so if you have AptX-LL (or even AptX) headphones, you may still prefer to use a transmitter like this for lower latency. AFAIK, Switch uses SBC for Bluetooth audio (which is not great for latency).

Also, Bluetooth audio on switch limits the number of BT controllers that can be used at the same time (2 I believe)…although, the need for Bluetooth headphones while using more than 2 controllers is probably a niche use case (perhaps a Bluetooth speaker, or a pair of headphones for people trying not to disturb someone sleeping).

      • but it doesnt allow the use of microphone??

  • Got one of these a while back in last deal and been good. Hooked it up to optical cable in old TV and works well

  • How well does the aptx codecs work?

  • Could this be used to connect 2 Bluetooth headsets to my TV? would there be too much audio delay/lag with these?

    • +1

You will need a pair of Aptx headphones to pair with this Aptx adaptor to minimise lag.

    • +2

FWIW, AFAIK, the TaoTronic transmitters can output to 2 headphones in AptX, but not in AptX-LL (AptX Low Latency limited to a single connection).

If you want dual-link AptX-LL, there are not many options, but Avantree Oasis Plus is one option.

But if latency of AptX is OK for you, then one of these TaoTronics transmitters will be a cheaper option.

(FWIW, I don't really notice much difference between AptX and AptX-LL for my usage…YMMV)

Needs USB-C power input .. cannot buy with that crappy input

    • +3

How else were you thinking of powering it? With hopes and dreams?

Aux cant provide meanigful power for a transmitter, nor does optical work as solar. Do you prefer mini usb to type-c?

      • +2

        With hopes and dreams?

        Diesel generator

      • sorry .. why cant this device be updated to be powered with USB-C as the power input port? I have plenty of USB-C options to power up.

that connection is just old school.

  • Just thought of letting potential buyer know, if you connect this via the optic fibre cable to the tv and transmit them to your headphones, you cant control the volume. Not sure with aux as my tv doesnt have them.

    • You mean can't control the volume on the TV (with the TV remote control)? Or can't control the volume on the headphones (with the headphones volume control)?

You should be able to control the volume on the headphones themselves. Optical is a digital output, so bypasses the internal amp on the TV (hence why the YV volume control wouldn't work).

    • +1

Well yeah… Optical doesn't carry information regarding volume. It's basically 0's and 1's for this Bluetooth transmitter to convert. No device can control volume through optical alone, you need to add something like Hdmi ARC or a unified remote to make it work.

      • Yeah… i was assuming that i could control the volume via the tv. But i cant and my headphones does not have volume control. After researching, i now understand why. But i totally didnt expect this when i bought it. So i just thought of highlighting to people who dont already know.
