  • Thanks Op. Got one. Hope it's not fake.

    • +1

Is it likely to be from Catch?

    • Haven't heard of Catch selling fakes, they would be authentic.

Back of the pack states "Made in Japan"

    • May not be actual packaging.

      • yer that crossed my mind.

  • +2

Not sure if these ones are made in Japan, my previous purchases from Catch are not.

Better to buy Japanese ones from GGC $14 for 4 AAA or AA, buy 2 packs if you need 8.

    • It says Made in Japan in the photo they used

      • Country of origin is subject to change. So unless they specifically state that the batteries are made in Japan as a product feature, it is not guaranteed. Could just be a generic image.

        • One of the reviews did say "Great price for Eneloops made in Japan"

        • I bought an 8 pack a couple of months ago from Catch and were Japanese made. Maybe they have multiple suppliers/sources for these.

      Curious what GGC stands for?

Good Guys Commercial, it’s meant for B2B but a lot of reward programs include it as a benefit, so it’s almost B2C.

        It's a different website, here's a screenshot of Eneloops.

    • Interestingly I have a pile of Eneloops from years ago. Most are from Sanyo Japan days. Every once in a while I charge them all and I notice from my smart charger the Japanese cells are definitely superior to the China versions. Noticeable extra charge held in the Japan cells.

Does it come with the charger?

  • ARE THE IKEA BATTERIES 1900MAH OR 2450 MAH better?

    • These are AAA.

  • I got a varta charger.. should i charge these? in it?

    • +1

If your charger supports NiMH batteries, then they should be fine.

I would recommend using a smart charger.

    • Yes I got Varta charger too and it's fine to charge in it

  • Production date on these are 03-2017. This is probably why they are on sale. ;-)

Model code is: HR03. This is possibly an older model. I usually see HRM03 with production dates no older than an year for AAA.

    • I think the images with the packaging are not necessarily indicative of what they have in stock. The one I got a couple of months ago has a production date of 08/2020.

      • Were they from Catch directly?

It possible that they haven't updated their listing photos in a long time. In any case, I have sent Catch a message regarding the model code and PD.

        • Yes they were from Catch directly and I also think they haven't updated the photos. I only bought one pack of 8 so probably not a good indicator of what sort of stock they have.

    • Mine arrived today, Made in Japan, production date 09-2020. HR03. Hope it’s useful to someone

  • anyone know how long the life span is for these? been using mine for 3-4 years now and not rly a fan of stretching batteries life too much.

    • After 10 years, the charge capacity (measured in mAh) generally degrades to 70%.

      • thats shelf life… charged, stored and unused. Used is on cycles, and about 2100 if Jap. 500 for the pro versions… thats full cycles… if you never deplete them they will do more.

        • I have 8 pro batteries that I have had for about 3 years. Pretty much none of them hold a charge now.

          • @sallan75: Did you use an intelligent charger like Nitecore (or a similar device) for the entire lifetime?

            • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Agreed. I have a smart charger and never fast charge mine. All of mine are doing great and some are coming on 10 years now. My Pros are all over 7 years old. I'll charge them yearly or so on either the slowest or medium power setting. This 3 year dead ones are probably made in China, they were noticeably worse as I have some too.

              • @Click_It: Nice. That's what I like to hear.

Just out of curiosity, what smart charger do you use?

I see that LiitoKala is on sale right now. But I am thinking of getting the Opus.

@DoctorCalculon: I have the La Crosse BC-700 which goes back to a 2012 deal on OzBargain. I think they stopped selling them internationally a long time ago (got mine on Amazon at the time).

Not sure how it compares to the newer brands.

              • @Click_It: He said they were Pros. All pros are Jap.

                • @Tuba: Ah gotcha, they never moved those offshore huh?
In that case, poor charging would be my guess.

These Catch "OnePass", Amazon "Prime" and Kogan "First" subscriptions are like bloody media subs, gotta catch em all.

    • You forgot eBay Plus :D
