    I resisted as well for that very reason, but I did grab a pair last month and they really are fantastic. I EQ'd them using peace and I'm using them for both gaming and music listening, they're very very good for the price.
    At this point the initial annoyance the cable isn't removable has left my mind, but before buying I did find a number of youtube video's of people successfully modding the headset to make the cable removable by soldering in a socket successfully. Maybe after 6 or 12 months I'll give it a shot for a laugh.

    Anyway, I agree it's silly their lower end headphones are like this, but I can confirm this pair in particular does at least sound great :).

      I've heard the DT990 before, which seems to be very similar to this one, and from my memory, they do sound good. If I don't already have several open-back pairs of headphones I'll strongly consider this despite the non-detachable cable.

      I got these as my first foray out of gaming headsets, driving from my Pc was a little quiet, from my monitor it's sounding good and at a higher volume, do you use an external DAC, or modern Pcs are fine for this level of headphone without one?
      Also, could you share the Peace EQ you are using?

        For a dacamp I'm using an Ifi Zen Dac v2. Can get them on special but the rrp is more than reasonable. It's great.

        For peace profile I'm using the Parametric from AutoEQ. Just search for AutoEQ on google, click on Master in the google results. Shows a whole list of profiles for over 5000 different headphones. Find the one for tygr 300r and you're good to go.

    Their DT700 PRO X and DT900 PRO X are part of their newer lineup and both have detachable cables.

  Thanks, I ended up ordering the DT900 PRO X's which are also on sale at Umart for $269.
