I hate mine of these. Always had issues with pairing, one earbud would pair but the other wouldn't. Got them replaced and had the same issue a few months later. Though my WH-1000XM3 haven't had an issues.

    • Yup. I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe ok for quiet indoor use only maybe? For me ANC was so terrible, Couldn’t use outdoor at all. Bulky design makes it unstable as well.

I haven't had any problems with mine. They work fine, but I find headphones more comfortable for extended periods of time.

When do you use the in-ears ? I have the headphones and at this price, it's hard to say no, but what will I use them for ?
And sound quality difference? Is there much?

I use in-ears a lot in summer because closed-back headphones are uncomfortable and get sweaty. Same goes for listening to music while exercising.

Around the house and outdoors in winter I revert to headphones. If I'm playing games, editing videos or doing anything where audio latency can be a problem, then I always use wired headphones or wired in-ears.

        • Thanks!
Summer makes sense now that you mention it.
Also, just did a couple of flights with Carry-on luggage only.
          Took the headphones.
In-ears would help there with less space

      • When do you use the in-ears ?

When travelling or doing tasks where I still need to hear what's happening around me. I'll just put one side in.
I haven't tried the headphone version of the XM3 so can't compare, but I imagine headphones would sound fuller.

        • The big ones have Ambient Sound mode.
Gets surrounding noises and amplifies in the mix so no need to remove an ear.
Surely the wee-little ones do the same ?

I use this mode all the time….when on meetings, i can hear my turd burgers making noise and still yell at em when required ;)

The big ones have Ambient Sound mode.

The WF1000XM3 does too, but I still prefer an open ear. It also doesn't look very nice talking to someone in person while wearing headphones. Of course when WFH that's totally fine.

Are phone calls as bad as they say, specially outdoors?

Don’t know if you use iPhone, I have both WH 1000xm4 and AirPods Pro. I’d find the latter is more reliable and better for phone calls.

I think the apple airpods connect via a higher bandwidth protocol to Apple devices, which isn't available to generic Bluetooth headphones. If you're using apple devices, definitely go for airpods rather than non-apple headphones.

I haven't actually used them for phone calls. I have a Plantronics headset for that which works great.

  • Very good price. I have had mine for years and years and they still work flawlessly. I use them a lot. You can use one at a time (as long as you disable the assistant via the app). Never had these pairing issues other people have mentioned. I pair with 2 devices and they switch between them mostly ok. Sometimes there can be issues as they like to default to my mobile in those instances I just turn off bluetooth on my phone.

The only thing I need to buy from time to time are more Comply Foam Tips.

I keep kinda hoping they die so I can upgrade them, but no luck yet.

  • JB price matched these at Bing, $149 for me the other day. First impressions are excellent, sound quality amazing at this price point and the adaptive noise cancelling is great, if a bit sensitive. Very comfortable for me, even when wearing them all day at work I didn't know what I was missing with my trusty taotronics.

  • Kogan has it for 139 approx. Given they are imports. Free shipping with First trial.

no issue pairing, no issue sound quality, really love this.
however, way too bulky, and heavily depended on the tips you use, can make or break it.
