[Kogan First] Kogan SmarterHome LX12 Robot Vacuum $289 Shipped @ Kogan

90

I have been looking for a robot vacuum with LIDAR/mapping to regularly vacuum my home, and noticed the LX 12 on special for $289.

We have been occasionally using an old Stirling robot vac from Aldi, but it is random how it goes and always eventually eats cables and gets stuck etc.
I am used to using the Dreame stick vacuum together with the robot so not expecting miracles.

Basically just hoping a spinning laser and maps can provide a less chaotic solution, but did not want to spend the $700-1500 for the top spec models.

To me it seems to have plenty of features for the money - but I have only started looking at these and could not find any reviews.
What I liked about it:

  • Price at $289 is a low barrier to see if this works for me.
  • Laser assisted map building of the floorplan, app driven (I hope to be able to save a map, exlude areas with wires, then schedule cleaning times.
  • Apparently can work with Google Home ( not sure if I will use this immediately)
  • Can mop with a small water tank and microfibre towel (but not expecting much from this)
  • Upgradeable (I am guessing) for auto emptying if I buy the extra dock.

Anyhow, for $289 I thought I would take a chance on it,
and it can be upgrades to auto-emptying later on for $338

Alternatively you can get the LX12 together with the auto emptying for $539

Please dont buy kogan branded items… no matter how good the photo, how amazing the spec, how cheap the price.. still will regret….

I was going to say same thing. The instant-regret level on these robovacs will be off the chart, believe me.

Not one of their 'Google' compatible devices has worked in my experience.
Don't forget Ruslan Kogan's motto “The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.”

        This is ridiculous.

There is nothing wrong. Their smarterhome range is actually great quality and no different to any other Chinese Tuya based products and a fair chunk of other

I own out of their range
        G
        - globes
        - sockets
        - power board
        - scales
        - air fryer
        - IR transmitter
        - garage opener
        - cameras X 5
        - pet feeder
        - pet treat dispenser
        - pet water fountain
        - doorbell

Then I've bought TVs (not the best, but not bad for price) and Furniture (better quality than fantastic or Smart and cheaper)

        Use Kogan mobile.

The only problem I have had is with a scale but that was when it got damaged by water through my own fault.

Yes there customer service sucks. They cancel order all the time - especially preorders. But their products are decent and especially good value.

if you managed to get their 'Ring' knock off video doorbell working with Google Home then I am genuinely impressed

The typical anti-kogan, anti-youfoodz brigade carrying on as usual. I've had a Kogan (tuya) smart robot vacuum and it worked well until I sold it to side grade to a viomi stick vac for reasons other than quality.

Also many other products including a 55" tv I bought at start of 2019 and have used almost every day since without issue.

@dmbminaret: I'm not a fan of youfoodz., Mainly for their small portions. But they are tasty, use quality ingredients and the macros are fairly good on most of their range.

Certainly a place for them - but I wouldn't substitute my own meal prep.

The other vacs I was considering (although they all have the emptying dock) before I found the LX12 at half the price:

    Roidmi EVE Plus $539
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/roidmi-eve-plus-robot-vacuum-wi…

    Viomi S9 $649
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/az-eshop-viomi-s9-uv-robot-vacu…

Kogan LX12 with emptying dock $539

Since I found no reviews of the LX12, I read the reviews of the LX10 model which seems very similar

I have the LX 10 and I think it's awesome

        Ruslan is that you?

        • What do you call a man hiding in the bushes?…Ruslan'

I have an LX10 too.. happy with it, although it has some quirks.

It recently stopped working with “fan motor error”. Turns out a tiny piece of paper somehow got in and jammed the fan motor assembly. Good as new now!

    • I have the eve plus and I strongly recommend it at that price point
Bought the missus the kogan lx8 off marketplace for $50 and been pleasantly surprised with its ability.

Cleans just as well as the roidmi admittedly without the auto empty though. (From the looks of it though its just a rebranded roidmi eve plus) which is a good thing

For the price I'd choose it over the roborock anyday

Yes its easy to sh1t on kogan products but I feel after 6/7 iterations of robotic vacuums they're finally onto a winner

Bought one of the Kogan robovacs last year.
Moved house and changed my wifi SSID which effectively somehow bricked the device and there was no "hard reset" option.

Got it refunded under warranty and got a Dreame.

You didn't brick the device. You changed your SSID and the device was locked to your old network. I believe this is probably an anti-theft feature, right or wrong.

Why didn't you change it back and de-register the device? This is a tuya software thing, not really anything to do with Kogan besides you being their unaware customer.

      • Mate I unregistered it first before I moved and then the device refused to connect to the new SSID on three different phones with no luck.
Even recreated the old network to test and it wouldn't do anything both with the tuya app and the Kogan one (not that there is much difference).
Nothing about me being unaware. Just a shit device.

      • +1

Nothing to do with Kogan? They're selling a device under their own brand. It's everything to do with Kogan.

        • I was referring to the software.

If you have a Toshiba laptop and put a virus on your windows OS, is it a problem with Toshiba or windows…?

  • I'm considering adding the 3yr extended care for $39 - seems favourable when compared with 3 yr extended care for the Roidmi EVA Plus which is $129

Background, I am not a particular fan of Kogan and have low expectations dealing with them
(I still remember the evil days of calling Kogan mobile "help desk" when they first started only to be subject to Hall & Oates "Maneater" on loop for more than an hour.)

    • but have store credit from a cancelled OM-D deal they renegged on and would like a robovac.
  • +2

I'd suggest the Viomi V2 Pro over this. It just doesn't have the option of an auto emptier.

    • i have the viomi v2 and it's incredible, set it off every other day since we have cats, and it just works wonders!

  • The Viomi models seem to only have one side brush, I like the idea of having dual brushes to draw debris to the central brush from both sides.
