      If you have to ask, the answer is Y E S ! ! !

    • Yes?

  • Playing with my SP36 BLF and this pops up. aghhhhh

  • Thanks OP - the powerbank feature is just enough for me to rationalise this

  • Apologies in advance if this is a noob question.

How does this compare to something like an led lender p7?

I've had my original P7 for well over a decade. Although, that sits in my toolbox as a very, very last spare. By eye, tube size of this about 60ish% of the P7, roughly same height, the head opens at the top to about the same size as the P7's telescopic head.

Obviously no adjustment on this, also being a TIR emitter, it's quite a narrow pencil-beam and has very little spill. P7 from last memory could go anywhere from 50% to 60% of the distance of this in the focus beam adjustment on the P7. This is definitely a more dedicated medium range thrower/position spot/signaller (worst case, moon projection device for kids room). ๐Ÿ˜…

P7 was fantastic in it's time for both short and long range in the size. But now you can fit the sun your pocket.. Keep in mind, this thing HEATS UP on turbo within 1 - 2 minutes. The weight and finish of this torch though is a dream. It's the one I usually reach for even around the house, sits easily on the tail, moon projection on roof and you can ramp it up to how much you need the room lit with zero worries about glare from spill.

If size isn't a concern of yours, at this price range I'd suggest like a Convoy C8+. Mine should be arriving in a few days, a bit bigger than the P7 but a more usable (wider) beam and I believe slightly more distance than this IF22A. Can't compare dimensions for you though.

Do you review torches for a living?

        • +1

I just spent $32 ($22 battery part, $10 shipping) repairing my decade old P7.

          Feels sad man.

          • @Martyroz: Also, you shouldn't have..

I believe LED Lenser will repair (most likely replace with a new P7.2) nowadays if you send them back your torch. My P7 has had issues for a few months after unpacking it from moving, hence it sitting in the toolbox. I actually sent them a return request form but never got around to sending it back.. ๐Ÿ˜… Was tossing up between actually writing up a message to request to keep it aswell. They note on their website, let us know for sentimental reasons or whatnot if you wanted to keep your original (supposedly damaged) torch and they'll do their best to send it back after inspecting the unit and hopefully giving you a replacement. Don't quote me but I'm fairly sure it's lifetime warranty. They allow you to return the torches to their speciality store in different States. Usually like a hobby/camping store, I believe they list as their 'licensed repairers' somewhere on their website. The closest one for me in Vic is in the city though..

            • @[Deactivated]: Hmm interesting. I have no idea of their warranty terms, but I emailed them, quoting SN and they said that the battery/switch unit on their site is compatible.

        • Haha, I wish.. I only have around 10. Not as much as a lot of fellas here.. ๐Ÿ˜…

But I just so happened to have both models so thought I'd put my 2cents. ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks for your detailed response mate.

No worries! Hope you enjoy it if you end up picking one up! (:

My C8+ order landed in Australia within 18 hours from leaving China. I'm surprised at how ridiculously fast AliExpress has been for me in the last few months, and going through what seemingly has been reputable stores, their customer service is easy as pie like a messenger message and most stores will get back to you within hours. :-O

This is a comparison of them side by side.

Another one of the beam comparison, although like I mentioned I'm having issues with my P7 and I don't think it's running at 100% brightness exactly.. indoor daylight conditions, 2 metre distance.

  • Thereโ€™s $4 off with some Aliexpress code to bring it down to another $1.

    See post by clear.
