Gifted one to a paramedic and now the whole base uses them. Among the best budget torches you could get.

    • +6

      Lol @ your username.

      • +2

Mr and Mrs Fuppet didn’t think that one through..

$3 off 23 AUD with coupon AUAF03. Ended up as 22.71 AUD total. Cashrewards 12% off too.

    • +4

      Doesn’t work

      • Maybe a currency issue? Were you in AUD or USD?

      • From the look of it, you need to spend $15USD before GST so need another item.

  • I got one for similar price on Amazon last year from a deal posted here. It’s a great torch for the money, highly recommend. Just wish it had a magnetic tail cap.

    • Mine has a magnetic tail? I leave it on the fridge

      • I am going to try it out tonight lmao I didn’t even think to try as I didn’t remember seeing it in the feature list

  • +2

My favourite headlamp for stuffing in your pocket to bring out at night. Due to its size, it lacks battery life to last more than a few hours so it's not ideal for long trips but for the casual work out at night or getting light to see something around the yard, it's beautiful.

    • This description claims magnetic tail btw

      • Oh shit I better check it out - I didn’t even try as I just assumed it didn’t ahhh

      • +3

Reporting back that yes it does lol

In that case yeah I definitely recommend this

    • +1

Yeah, battery life not great compared to other head torches I have. It's a shame, because otherwise I'd be getting another at this price!

  • +1

Shame it won't fit 18350 battery which I already have a couple of, can't be bothered to buy yet another type of lithium battery.

    • +3

I was in the same boat but as it recharges via USB, battery type has been pretty moot as you'll never actually take it out of the light.

      • +3

Except the stock battery won't last long, one of my 18350s has already kicked the bucket in just a few months. even if they do you're going to need a few backups when it run out of juice.

    • don't you mean 18650?

18350 looks like a shorter version of 18650 that seems like it would fit.

      • Yes but this HS10 requires 16340.

        • oh thanks mb. so it's a bit thinner as well as shorter.

  • +2

Is it enough to go crab catching night time at the beach?

    • +3

      This is my question also

    • +1

Battery doesn't last long, I use one on a bike ride on the way home. Suggest a model with larger battery.

      • Suggest a model with larger battery.

yes the biggest downside to these tiny ones and why I skipped it as an option tbh. another one that was posted a few times was the Wuben. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/892234

I only use mine for cleaning but I also didn't want to be charging it every week.

    • I doubt it. Strong light and seems good quality, but small battery. I took mine camping for the first time recently, it died after maybe 45min of Uno. (Then I discovered the USB-C cable I'd brought didn't fit into the port on the headlamp)

    • Hmm. How big are the crabs?

  • I got this torch for $15 as part of a bundle deal on AE just 2-3 months ago

    • +4

Lol @ telling us you bought it but no review of it

  • Can I tilt the actual light a little bit down instead of shooting light right in front of me?
Which would you prefer for outdoor use? say if I'm going out to do some BBQ or clean up scraps, 4000k or 5000k?

    • +1

Yes the whole circular body of the torch rotates

      • thanks, I ordered the 4000K. It came to $13 AUD. I was already a member from 6yrs ago but it seems to have applied a 'First time' discount. Checked my CC transactions and it took out $13.07 AUD.

  • I found my one is way too focused for close up work. Theres no way to adjust the zoom so you end up with very a very focussed beam.

    • +1

because of the way it's got 1 LED behind a circular lens, this is exactly what I said this would be like when I posted a cheap $18 headlamp.
and all the torch experts told me I was wrong. that it was superior in many ways one of them was a wide beam. 🤔

if you want ultra wide lighting I recommend this one. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/874754 (make sure you get the one linked, if you search amazon there are a few Blukar ones they look the same in images but are different)
I tried it and the light beam reaches to the edges of your vision. it's very consistent light too, so even if you turn your head it doesn't have the light>dark>light effect.

friend has it I compared it to the H35R I got and it's even wider than that one. H35R gets brighter though.

if you want to know the brightness and battery life of the Blukar, it's about 200lm and gets around 6 hours.

Got the HS21 recently. Really great torch and glad to come across the brand. Sure this is awesome for the price.

    • Did a whole deep dive and concluded on HS21 being the best value headlamp for my running needs. Just hoping it's not too heavy and wobbly on the front.

  • -3

Make sure you already have the correct battery charger or else prepare to spend on a new battery charger. It’s not just this buying headlamp torch only.

    • +3

Any reason not to just charge it via USB through the headlamp?

      • I was going to say the same thing.. why need battery charger.

I have one just for AA's (Ladda's/Eneloop Pro) that can do lithium as well. but I have only used it to check voltage by inserting lithium battery and taking it straight out.

  • +1

I got one delivered yesterday funnily enough, bought it direct from Sofirn for US$11.99 alongside a BS01 light for US$33.99 (shipping was free and took 10 days).

Very happy with them both. The torch is bright and lightweight, the magnetic tip seems handy.

I've had issues with the rubber charge port flap on other lights letting water in - this seemed sturdier than others I've used but we'll see how it holds up. I was also looking at other options not using that sort of rubber strip like the H35R but those only claim IPx6 instead of IPx8.

  • Would this be too heavy to use running?

    • I think so, I use one on my helmet and the light bounces around when I hit potholes.

    • If you want ultra light try the Nitecore NU20 Classic - a few available on Ali

  • Have a lot of Sofirn torches. They are all great.

    • I only have two and they are good torches.

    • Can you recommend a compact-ish headlamp with a significantly longer lasting battery than this one?

      • I have the H35R and very happy with it. it's got a battery that's 3000mAh over 3x the size of the 800mAh one in the HS10.
some comments have pointed out though that Sofirn's H products aren't actually designed or made by Sofirn, they just chose a decent Boruit Aliexpress model and put their logo on it.

weirdly though, even the user manual doesn't mention actual battery life times. it only mentions the brightness. here are the brightnesses 1LM, 60LM, 450LM, 800LM-1500LM. I put hypen between 800 and 1500 because no flashlight can actually do the max for long, after a few seconds (between 10~30 most of the time) it drops to the next level down which is 800LM.

so if you can find the same brightness of the HS10 and times it by 3 you will roughly get the H35R battery life.
        HS10 gets 7.25 hours @ 50LM, so H35R would be like 21 hours @ 60LM. HS10 gets 1.25 hours @ 500LM, so H35R would be like 4 hours @ 450LM.

        • couldn't add in edit.

usually you can trigger the max again straight after it drops, but then it drops again after a period of time. so the maximum is really more like a "boost" function.

  • Is this overkill for walking the dog after dark? I don't want to illuminate the whole street and blind motorists.

    • might be good for that because a comment above does say the beam is pretty narrow.

but if you really don't want to blind people make sure you use a lower brightness. if you ever walked past a person with a light before, after getting your nightvision with street lighting, and you look into a light for just 1 second, you can't see anything straight after.

      • That's a good point, one of they best parts of walking the dog at night is covertly sticky beaking at peoples' houses.

        • +1

Please ignore my previous comment (which I've since deleted). Based on the responses I got, I've now discovered there are a whole bunch of features I wasn't aware of - you can absolutely change the brightness (3 settings), and also enable strobe mode so lots of sticky-beaking options!

      • You probably should read the manual. ;)

(Although this is copy and paste from Amazon, but same diff.)

        Operation Instructions
        From OFF

1.Single click to turn ON, single click again to turn OFF.
2.Press and hold to turn on Moon. Then press and hold again to cycle through stepped modes.
3.Double clicks to activate Turbo. Double clicks again to activate Moon, single click to turn OFF, press and hold to cycle through stepped modes.
4.Triple clicks to activate Strobe, double clicks again to cycle through Strobe-SOS-Beacon, then single click to turn OFF.
5.Four fast clicks to activate lockout. 4 fast clicks again to deactivate lockout and return to the previous mode setting.

        It is dimmable.

        • I don't think mine came with a manual so appreciate the copy/paste haha, I'll try this out tonight.

          • @bdo207: You'll probably find it's a more useful light once you can change the brightness.

And a link to the manual…

            https://img.fantaskycdn.com/403841832cec2b7a66bdae1c88022efb…

            • @MonkDog: Cheers! Have only used it once so glad I've still got more to learn.

            • +1

@MonkDog: So I had a play around with it last night, the headlamp that is. I'm actually shocked by how many modes it has! Haha. I grateful for my original ignorant comment as I probably wouldn't have discovered them otherwise 😅

      • As far as I can tell, there's just an on/off option.

are you sure? even amazon image shows multiple brightness levels.

ok nvm. failed to read the thread before commenting sorry. 😂

        • Yeh sorry, I was quickly informed otherwise and realised my ignorance.

Instead I would change my comment to "Apparently you can adjust the brightness but you wouldn't know it without the manual!" Haha.

          • @bdo207: yeah I agree with you on the manual though.

for my H35R headlamp in the user manuals button function map thingy, on the first layer it shows "OFF" and "NO". 😂

    • Perfect for it, has 3 brightness levels.

  • +2

cant add to cart, must be oos

  • +4
