      It's fashionable.

If I was diving, I'd prefer a cheap and accurate quartz watch over an expensive, delicate and inaccurate mechanical watch. Even within the world of mechanical watches, a handmade watch is expensive and respectable, a watch made on an automated production is considered cheap garbage, even though logically it would be better built than a handmade mechanism.

Watches are jewellery primarily. Their actual utility is an afterthought

I used to dive with with my seamaster until prices went crazy …..now I use an apek which comes from same factory as the steeldives ($320 vs $100) …. it's quartz, WR200 and not a bid deal if lost ….. digital dive computer is OK but analog gives me a proportional idea of time ….. it's why people use pie charts at presentation rather than just tables of numbers ….and i wear in and out of water.

nice looking watch apart from not accurate with time, at least the one I have got.

    Calibre Accuracy - +45 -35 seconds a DAY

Seriously? A $10 shitter at the market would have that level of accuracy.
