These are good bottles, Ive had mine for over a year now and use it twice a week just for water, occasionally for a Slurpee.

    • +67

Think you should be drinking more water than twice a week

  • Whats it like, does it have a straw? And arent slurpees $1 anyway?

Sorry just saw it has a straw. Does it just sit in it or..?

    • +3

If it's anything like the old design, you can flip the straw upwards

    • And arent slurpees $1 anyway?

      yeah they are.

  • +1

The old ones were plastic bottles, are these bottles plastic or stainless?

    • +6

Plastic bottle with stainless steel lid

  • but the real kicker is the $1 refills that will come in handy next summer.

Not sure if that's a deal. It's always been $1 for a large cup.

    • +10

      You get more

*Approx 900ml in drink bottle compared to 700ml for $1 standard large.

  • -1

    Isn't a large slurpee $1 anyway?

    • +2

For $1 you usually don't reuse the cup.

    • +8

      For 700ml yes.

      Now you get 900ml.

Has anyone tried to get a smoothie in your own cups, is that even a thing? I love this cup https://www.myer.com.au/p/decor-extra-large-smothie-tumbler-… its about the size of a $1 slurpee but would I have to get the slurpee in their cups and pour it into my own to avoid arguments over the size of the cup?

    • I dont think you would be able to. The machine would be programmed to the cup size/dimensions and would probably throw the sensors out.

      • +5

Our machines have handles that you twist (manually) to get slurpees, do they have automatic ones elsewhere?

        • Slurpees do, the smoothies don't. They are automatic and select the smoothie/shake/frappae on the screen

          • +1

@Damannation: Oh sorry i was asking about slurpees and said smoothie instead

            • +1

@Rain Cloud: Thought you might have meant that by your reply haha

              • @Damannation: :) love my cup and always wanted to try (also so i dont have to use that horrendous paper straw) but dont know how they would take it

                • @Rain Cloud: I would probably guess would depend on the person serving to whether they would okay it. Yeah the straw is horrible but I guess at least it's better for the environment.

                  • +2

@Damannation: I've taken to taking a wooden spoon from the hot food section to scoop the slurpee out instead of using the straw. No one has said i couldnt take one..yet.

    • On 7/11 day you used to be able to BYO cup, but they recently changed it so people can only fill a certain size. Granted, it didn't stop the Engineers from trying to maximise their Slushy intake.

  • +4

Last bottle I bought from 7/11 was a bit bigger than the large cup. Approx 900ml compared to 700ml from memory.

  • +3

.. don't know if we want to encourage drinking MORE sugar water. :)

    • +4

There are low sugar options, but I agree its a concern when bottled water is twice as expensive…..kids will choose the slurp!

      • +4

Kids probably choose by flavour not by price

      • +1

Knowing how cheap slurpee are, the low sugar are probably using "worse for you" sugar substitute.

        • +1

ahh yes, the worse for you substitutes. that would take so much use of them, that you would die of liquid intoxication before you do from the substitute.

Do people actually buy these for reusing the bottle? I bought a whole bunch in the previous runs many years ago but to collect them so I never actually made use of the refill price lol

Whenever I bought them I got a normal straw anyway so I wouldn't have to go washing the lid/straw afterwards.

    • +4

is this the thread where we admit to collecting weird things? 'cos i, too, have way too many drink bottles…

  • These make great water bottles (ditch the straw though). Never bothered taking them back for a slurpee refill.

    • would need a bit of planning for refills ….. not sure i’d always have the bottle handy when walking past 7/11, and in the car i usually have water in insulated bottle to keep it cool in summer ….other option is impulse buy 700ml for $1 …… vs planned 900ml for $1 ……

      • Not everyone WALKS past 7 eleven.
        Some people drive

  • Ahh miss a good Slurpee, haven't had one since the whole rona fiasco. Mainly cos the local one is gross, never gets wiped down.

    Is this Covid safe?

    • +1

Aren’t the cups there not covid safe?

      I think that’s what you meant 🙃

  • I didn't see where to use the Referral Link for Tipple or the app, and I created a different account at each. Am I too late to use it?

    • I believe its the 7/11 app

      • I just read Ripple's FAQ, and the get/give $10 is a program they have. It seems to be used at checkout. Their online customer service had no idea what I was talking about though.

        • Tested it through the provided link above. Added one to cart, continued until Payment, input random referral from above in Promo Code field, and got crap. It comes up saying you have to spend $30+ to use a referral! Didn't say that anywhere else until that point.

I was hoping I could use the referral $10 to get a free cup. Wah-wah. 😮‍💨

Would these be good for bubble tea?
Is the straw wide enough for pearls?

    • +1

late response but no. i just got one and there's no way the boba would get hrough the top flip-open bit, let alone the straw below

  • They should fill it up with a hot drink. Who wants a slurpee at this time of year…

  • Went to my local 7 11 snd they didn’t even realise about these.
    Not sure why

  • As soon as I put my address in it changed price to $8

  • +1

Definitely nice bottle..but its 700ml not 900ml in case anyone needs to know. I measured it.
