Have had one running for about a year and a half. Can't complain. Works well.

    • +1

Only had mine installed a couple of weeks, my one complaint is needing to recalibrate it every day or two so auto lock knows the door is closed…

      • +3

Did you use their strike plate? I think that may have happened to me a couple of times initially, and installing that fixed it.

        • Hmm, no I used my existing one.. will have to give it a go, cheers. Wonder if putting a small magnet in the existing one to give it a strong bias would fix it too…

Couldn't find too much on the problem out there, just a mention on Reddit

          • @bamzero: Knew that was me before clicking the link heh..I should maybe update that post

Did you update the firmware? The last update, v1.3.6.8 fixed it mostly for me. I say mostly as the endless rain and humidity sometimes throws my door out of whack and that ends up messing with the sensor. The firmware is dated from December though so you might have it already..

Also, I'm not using the Eufy strike plate either.

            • @TheContact: Was wondering what ever became of that one ;)

Yeh I updated to v1.3.6.8 on install. After re-calibration last night, it had already stopped working today.
I've got a 1s close time set but it's not locking while the door is open so I guess it thinks the door is still closed.

Got me thinking though, I have a bunch of electronics running 24/7 in the room about a metre away from it, server, switch, modem etc..
Wonder if electromagnetic interference from that distance could be messing with it…

Also, how accurate do you find the closed detection on yours? After calibration, I noticed mine was still locking when the door is about 10cm from closed. Kinda wish they'd just used a plain old magnet, keep it simple.

              • @bamzero: I dropped a 2mm rare earth magnet I had lying around in behind the strike plate and calibrated 3 days ago and it's held it since so I'm starting to think the EMI theory might have something. Probably don't need the magnet in there, a wipe over the plate to magnetise it a bit might even do the trick.

Still not quite closed before it auto locks, but is about 20mm now instead of 100mm. Problem for another day.

    • Address?

      • :)

Not sure who felt the need to neg, but for anyone wondering what I'm talking about, the lock is supposed to sense when the door is closed via a geomagnetic sensor I believe.

This stops the door auto-locking when open, and autolocks after a set time after closing.

After calibration it works great for a day or two, but sooner or later stops recognising it's position again. The forced autolock after 3 (or 5?) minutes still works tho.

Aside from that, quite like it. Fingerprint seems to be much more reliable than my Samsung, and I've had some success getting basic functions into Home Assistant.

    • Did you ever recharge the battery since the installation?

      • +1

Yeh, put on charge as soon as I got it.

    • Do you know if this lock can set times of the day where it's unlocked? Eg 10am to 2pm everyday

      • Yes has quite a range of access options

  • My door lock is composed of two parts… can i install this lock?

    • +1

If one of those parts is a deadlock then yep

  • Can anyone inform me if I can install this lock at my house?

I am afraid I have to take the whole mount for both the top and bottom lock.

    here is some photos:

    • You're a bit out of luck. I won't speak for the exact dimensions, but seeing as your Deadbolt is under the door knob is a show stopper.

I have it the other way and I was able to simply remove my old Deadbolt and install the eufy with a margin of about half a cm between the bottom of the eufy and the door knob.

Fwiw, having a smart lock has been a game changer and I would 100pc just buy a new door if I had to.

      • This door is solid wood and I like it. there's no way to install it on this door then?

Will those Samsung smart lock which has two parts fit?

        • Of course there's a way, it is only wood after all. You'll just need to be handy /get someone in to replace the locks.

Given you have styling starting at 8cm in. Does the lock fit in that space? You could easily remove that whole old set up and find yourself a new door knob amd then install the eufy on the top.

The space between the Deadbolt and door knob is standardised (if it was installed correctly)

          • @csider: okay :) Eufy installed on the top, or bottom still buying a normal knob on the bottom?

and also remove the 'surround' (metal mount for deadbolt and knob)?

            • @Kawaii: Eufy has to be on top, have to remove the surround - current handle/knob may need to be replaced depending on the distance between deadbolt and handle (needs to be greater than 4cm)

        • Don't see why you can't swap the deadbolt with the handle (they both look the same size i.e. 6cm - eufy is standard at around the same size) - the problem is the surround you have on the outside of the door - it will interfere with the eufy keypad - if you can remove this and swap handle with deadbolt (replacing deadbolt with eufy) you might be ok. You may need to drill a larger hole for the deadbolt vs where the handle is now.
Also, you will need to check the clearance between the bottom of the inside part of the eufy lock (has the manual lock handle and battery) which extends about 4cm below the deadbolt lock - if you have more than 4cm clearance between the door handle and the deadbolt on the inside of the door, you should be ok.

    • Bit hard to tell exactly but looks like they are seperate parts with a surround.

You would have to remove the surround, and swap positions of the lock and deadbolt as the eufy won't fit at the bottom. You wouldn't be able to use the surround anymore though so would need a touchup on the door after too.

      • I will remove them tomorrow and have a look. thanks!

    • Why would you want a smart lock when you have a security screen? You would still have to get your keys out.

      • I can choose to not lock the security screen

This product seems to have the exact same features but a different model number and is $279. Does anyone know the difference?

Have had the non wifi version for 1.5 years. Love it, works really well.

Occasionally gets jammed closed and needs to be either forced by turning the knob harder than usual, or open it with the app.

Hate that you can't turn the auto lock off after 3 minutes - but I have set it to a schedule at the very least.

Mine uses 4xAA batteries, and they last forever(have changed them once in 1.5 years)

  • No autolock on these are a real dealbreaker!

WIth Samsung locks I've seen, there's a magnet that will trigger the lock automatically. Perhaps the same can be done with some home automation here.

    • +3

Just set the lock to 1s on the App and it will lock shortly after the door closes. (It's usually about 10s)

      • They're using the strike plate as the magnet, cool!

        Bought one!

    • +1

      It has auto lock.

  • These are great. Is fully waterproof. I have mine on an external pedestrian gate and have access code for delivery drivers as I use amazon a lot and have a secure area for deliveries. I have auto lock set for 3 mins in case they forget to lock it. I also have a eufy video doorbell which integrates and can unlock/lock on the doorbell app while speaking to people.

    • Thats exactly what i was looking for. I wrote to eufy (months ago) who confirmed - the rear of these locks is not waterproof.

How long have you had it outside for?

      • Funny, they told me that it was. The rear is kind of undercover as the gate is on a covered area, does still get wet but doesn’t cop as much water as the front. Back is still quite well sealed.I’ve had it for about a year now.

All the rain we’ve had at Noosa this year has been a good test too.

  • Nice, thanks OP. Have been seriously considering one of these but I’m currently blessed with a trilock so it’s not going to be an easy swap.

  • Wondering how easy it is to unlock from inside or if there's a childlock. With toddlers in the house I'm concerned it maybe easier to unlock the door compared to a key.

    • +1

Just turns to unlock from inside, something I don't like about it. Would need a security chain in your case.

    get samsung

  • Has anyone installed this Schlage Encode Plus smart wifi in their home. Can you share feedback?.

  • I hope one day there will be smart locks for mortise type locks.

    • +3

Don’t Samsung have a huge range of smart mortise locks?

  • -1

Get a Lockwood T-Lock instead, which is a rebranded Yale Assure Smart Lock for $110. Much better value.

  • +1

It's been convenient for my friends/family to use the fingerprint option rather than the PIN, and we have a fair few eufy products in the household already, so it was a good buy to get this for us, as it shows who unlocked it in the app history. The doorbell camera feed also shows a shortcut for the lock so if you answer your doorbell and want to let the visitor in, you just press a button from the same screen rather than have to back out.

Either way, it's come in VERY handy (I "locked" myself out, we go for dog walks without worrying about getting back in, petsitting friends come as they please, etc.), and we paid about $90 for a local handyman to install it - didn't have a deadbolt at all in the first place. Never had to recalibrate it, either.

    • Thanks for the review. I don’t have a deadbolt but have been considering this, so it’s good to know it’s worth the extra work and cost to install!

  • I actually bought one of these and Ken to install on the main entrance door. Anyone researched if insurance has any reservations when it comes to smart door locks
I couldn’t find anything On the PDS for RAC content insurance policy
