  • This price is still too high considering the Crypto crash recently.

A lot of crypto investors in world of pain right now. I grabbed the popcorn and am currently reading their melts on forums.

      • -3

you must be one of those poor sod who enjoys the pain of others, I pity you.

        • Indeed I wish great pain upon them. Pain to all who make gpu's more expensive. I sold my RTX 1080 last year for $750 and does unable to find one for $290 again.

          • +1

@Jimmy77: So you took advantage of the crypto induced GPU prices and sold your old card for an inflated amount and still complaining LOL!

  • RX 6900 XT tuf for 1400 - below RRP
RX 6800 XT Gig for 1200 - way above RRP and a big step up from this for 20% more
2 other flavours that may suit those with deeper pockets, I've been contemplating both or a 3080 at the right price.

    • I've got my fingers crossed we'll see a 3080 deal for $1200 soon!

      • Its been there…
With a few recent tweaks, the AMD options look strong.

I'd prefer a 6800xt at RRP (below a grand), but prices are high in USA, only the 6900xt seems to be dropping (as likely more available).

Still stock fun playing havoc, I should wait for next gen, but…. you know….

I paid $850 for this bad boy just before the prices took off. It's been solid for that price but $1k is till too much. Getting close tho!

  • -6

Lot of money for shit card. But at least it's 16x/256 bit bus

    • +1

Are you trying to say it's overpriced at $1k or it's "shit card" for any price?

      • +1

        Think someone’s just being egregious

      • +1

Yeah, if I had a dollar for every vague comment.

      • -5

No need to overanalyse but to answer your question I'm saying it's overpriced at 1k. $500 would make it a good card

        • Lol, what world are you living in? I know I'm wasting my time here, but that price would only make sense if the entire current lineup of nvidia and AMD cards were proportionally reduced.

6800 smashes the 3070 in rasterisation and on occasion beats the 3080. If DLSS is somehow your point of contention, then go read up on FSR 2.0.

    • Why is 6800 shit? Or just his particular brand/model is shit??

      • -5

Both actually. AMD aren't offering a 16x/256 bus gpu for under 1k thesedays. That's ridiculous. For the last decade 16x/256 cards regularly sat in the $400-$600 bracket. My gtx 970 has 256 bus/16x pcie. That along with plastic backplates shows cards thesedays are extremely cutdown. AMD are cutting down gpu's in ways they hope most consumers don't notice. And of course it's a Gigabyte gaming model.

        • +1

As far as I know, all Radeon GPUs higher than 66xx sku's offer full 16x PCIE bus.

          • +1

@Bappy: The 6700xt only has 192 bit memory bus. So the rx6800 is AMD's cheapest gpu offering 16x pcie & 256 bit memory bus.

      • +1

its not the card, its him. lol.

        • Maybe it was wrong of me to downvote the $499 asrock itx 6600xt. As the other member said what other cards are available on the market that can fit up ass

      • +2

He is on whirlpool and seems strangely fixated on 256 bit bus width in comparison with his GTX 970 rather than actual performance metrics of GPUs. Others have tried to explain that a 256 bit bus is not the be all and end all to no avail over there (particularly when there are older gen cards with 256 bit buses that obviously perform like shit compared to RX 6700 XT and RX 6600 XT cards).

There are plenty of other reasons to call cards of this gen very poor value, but lacking a 256 bit bus width is not one of them. Regular people should not care about a 256 bit bus as long as the cards perform well (which they do in light of architectural improvements and infinity cache). The GTX 970 is quite significantly slower than even a 6600 XT (as to be expected from a GPU from quite a few gens back) and itself had that 3.5GB vs 4GB scandal years back that did indeed affect performance so also find his fixation on 'cutting back' ironic. The plastic backplates are not a thing on all the RX 6600 XT and above deals posted here so not sure why he is bringing that up here.

It's great that he is happy with the GTX 970 which is wise to hold onto in this market, but his specific criticisms regarding bus widths etc. are frankly irrational

        • Infinity cache is a scam my friend. RX6800 and high tier cards are all 256 bit for a reason. It's required for ultra smooth gameplay at higher res. 6600/6700xt are heavily cutback and the price of this rx6800 is shit. Regarding 6600/6700xt It's like trying to fit a car down a bicycle lane at higher res. The core will be doing nothing while it waits for the memory. Entirely owing to them being specced at 192 bit and below.

  • The hash rate is still at a record high.

The miners must be hodl hodl.
