      where can i get a 3080 ftw3 for $1360?

        • +5

I paid $279 for an Aldi dishwasher in 2010 it lasted me over 10 years.

          • -2

            @Rod M: A perfect example of a non gpu item. I can't even trade my Ford for a 3080

      • +1

it was $1399 from bpc tech

        • +2

that was 11% more, not 8% lol. and its $1499 now, not $1399 lol.

      • +2

If you have a time machine you can get one for $1399 from a few days ago, but I think Jimmy has been hitting the sauce a little early for a Monday.

        • ahh yea i missed that one, now 1499 :(

          • @david6509: Crypto is crashing, rumours are that next gen is hitting July/Aug instead of September as previously thought, I imagine it won't be too long before it's that price again (or cheaper).

I almost picked up a used 3070 ti FTW3 and realised there's no point, might as well hold out a little longer and I'm sure I'll get a 3080 for a similar price (although my 3060 ti won't be worth as much).

            • @freefall101: im in the same boat. My 3090 ftw3 died (got a full refund at covid price) just using a 3060ti at the moment. If i can pick up a cheap ftw3 3080 ill jump on it but if not might pay to wait it out.

even at $999 he's going to keep whinging…

Can recommend this card, the "plus" revision is significantly improved over the 1.0 version.

    • Nice, any links?

        https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/GeForce-RTX-3080-VENTUS-3X…

it has anti bending on the pcb/cooler, and metal brushed backplate.

        original ventus has neither.

        • user name check outs, has this card been unlocked and any idea on memory temp?

          • +1

@david6509: almost all LHR cards unlocked 2 weeks back. LHR v3 unlocked to 90%. practically almost all non-LHR for its intent and purposes, gaming and mining.

esp gaming never had any issue with non-LHR in the first place. oxymoron for gamer who bought FHR card, its resale value also the same with non-LHR card now.

    • show us the price son, show us the price…

It will definitely be better than current gen when it comes to cost/frame. A 4070 for 1100$ would beat a 3090 which costs 2800$ and its just months away for a 4080.

        • +2

Except we don't know if the 4070 will be 1100$ or 2100$…

          • @Masticccc: 599USD is whats most people are guessing at his point. 7700XT at 499, so nvidia cant be far off. But 4070 will be year end.

        • +1

          3080 10gb = $1199-1299 (market price currently), some already $1499.
          4070 most likely $1499 MSRP.
          4080 ~ $1899

Nvidia most likely will release 4070 and 4080 first, then 4060, followed by Tie viersions.

          • -3

@[Deactivated]: It’s a new release cycle, price resets back. May not be to original , but a bit higher. Just like cpus. Else 75 inch tv should be costing 10k.

            • @John Doh: Can't remember that happening with the 3xxx launch, it was scalpers, scalpers, scalpers.

            • @John Doh: The RTX 3070 had an MSRP of $809AUD on launch. I highly doubt the RTX 4070 would be close to that launch price.

      • +1

Show us the price then add at least 50% on top for stock shortages early on…

No matter how bad the reference design is I'll be ordering one day one simply because we know once that initial stock is gone everyone will ramp up the price.

        • +1

If miners are not buying, it wont be as bad.

          • +1

@John Doh: Unfortunately mining will still be a thing and miners will upgrade to more efficient cards. Plus there's scalpers and simply low stock early on.

No one was buying Zen 3 chips for mining but they were still incredibly hard to get for months. Plus with the aussie dollar down and likely a price bump from nVidia.

A modest $100US bump in price from 3070 to 4070 would put the price here over $1,100 (probably closer to $1,200 with the Australia tax). I expect they'll go a lot further than that this time around and cash in on early sales, then just discount it further down the line.

            • @freefall101: Ya, I agree. But if miners buy more efficient card, they will sell the less efficient one too - because mining is going down. So lets see.

            • +1

@freefall101: Save money for rainy days…

      • Even without the price it's good to know the latest approximate eta for new cards. These are meant to be on a new node, so hopefully nvidia keeps making the 3xxx cards at the same time for a bit.

    • That link says the RTX4060 will only be 128-bit bus? Doesn't sound too good to me.

      • +1

I may be wrong but I believe they are increasing cache this time around.

      • Good find. If that's the case it won't be appealing to miners, just like 6800/6900 family which are way too expensive for them.

  • Username does not check out.

    • It does check out. legally it still says LHR, practically its 100% hash rate (non-LHR).

  • The ventus looks really good but I wish they had an illuminated rgb logo. thats all i need… perfect colour scheme as it is.

  • I bought an MSI graphics card in 2004 and it gave me nothing but trouble. Stability issues and reboots. Since then I have never been able to make myself buy an MSI product.

    • Seems like this group’s mentality with Gigabyte

      • I have never had a problem with a Gigabyte product, and I have owned a lot of them since 2003. It's my first choice for motherboards.

        • they had exploding psus and their thermal pads on the 3080 eagles were dogshit. and they acted like dicks about psus exploding like they weren't at fault. but i've since bought their shit and it's been fine (albeit hugely discounted ha).

Most ewaste companies have had their share of drama.5700xt asus tuf cards have dogshit heating, their thermal pads dont even touch the heatsink lol. People will only really remember the most recent and it's and easy witchhunt.

edit: of course they eventually recalled psus and replaced them with nonsploding editions.

  • SE no longer have any 3080 or decently priced higher tier cards.
All sold out or were some pulled down?

    • it says out of stock, probably gone forever. the 2nd wave of GPU hike / crypto boom is coming.

      • hehe… give gamer some hope bro…

        • Gamers had weeks to buy but chose to hodl.
