Also get the cheapest copy at launch from competing retailers rather than locked into PlayStation’s RRP.
Get cheap used copy of older games down the line.

I currently have a disc version but pre-ordered a digital this morning (disc will go to our daughter).
Since launch I’ve bought two physical games but returned them with two weeks so in theory I’ve not bought a single disc game. I mostly play F2P and PS+ games and with the new PS+ tiers I can’t see me needing to buy and games anytime soon.
Having said that, you lose that game and blu-ray function, you pay a heap more for digital new release games and you lose some value if you ever want to sell your console.
For me it was worth saving $150 over another disc console when I’ve basically not used the function in 18mths.
With the new PS+ tiers coming next month the Digital is finally looking like it will be decent value.
I always prefer Standard (disc version). Watching movies, borrowing games off friends, selling etc.I entirely don't understand the digital people. Discs can be loaned or given to friends once you finish playing the game, or resold into the used market.

Yes.
I just stated the obvious reasons why the disc version is better, I'll wait for the digital people to explain themselves.
@Wasted1: I’ll try my absolute best to explain this as simply as possible as it’s quite complex…..people don’t have the need, want or desire to buy or play physical games.

Isn't it possible to share games by logging into your friends PS and sharing digital games that way?
For me, I see the appeal of discs but I've never been the type to buy the game immediately upon release because I've got a backlog of games to play and I predominantly game on PC. Recently, I find myself waiting for sales or until the game is available on PS+. Which is why I'm not sure whether I should get disc or digital.
I've bought some cheap games at EB before ($15-25) only to find it being offered on PS later.

Ozbargainers: this might be a pointless plea but beyond helping your friends and family get them, buying to scalp just feeds the shortage and is kinda sketch.

With graphic card price plummeting, wouldn't it be better to buy a 3060ti or 3070 for gaming now. I can understand last year when the price of GPU insane and everyone want to get a ps5, don't see why how scalper still have demand anymore lol
You need a pc to go with the graphics card. Also then need to buy games for the pc. Also then need to upgrade graphics cards to play new games. Overall PC gaming IS far more expensive if you play new AAA or recent AAA games.
The price of a single gpu would cover a ps5 and a few years of ps plus with game library.I get your point, but I would also imagine most ppl have a PC, even if it 3 or 4 yr old, just need a GPU upgrade and you are good for another new years, so that is only $859 for a 3070 in latest bargain, same price as ps5. Console has limited games, more to that of PC so it is relative to what game people play. I'm mostly RTS so console is not that good value. I did manage to grab PS5 to play Horizon forbidden west but sold it after finish playing that as I can play rest of AAA on PC and I much prefer mouse keyboard over controller…..again it's all relative

Preferred console is irrelevant. PC is more expensive in 7 years of ownership. I have a PC, but I new GPUs won’t even fit in it. And the PC cost thousands when I bought it many years ago. Wow That’s way over priced lol. I don’t remember spending more than $1.5k on a whole system on a i7 with 1080ti, it lasted more than 7yrs and still rocking solid. you also missing the point pc is not just for gaming but for productivity work etc, so if you have a pc, there is that option of adding a gaming GPU. That’s why I only see gpu as the gaming part in comparison to console. Then again it’s all relative as I said. Everyone preference. I’m simply try to get ppl who desperately want a ps5 to think of an alternative as now that there is one. so they don’t fuel this scalper market.
@madska: IIRC to match a series X / PS5 you need an rtx 3080 or maybe an rtx 2080. That's like $1000 - $1400 right there.
Another couple of hundred for a 1Tb PCIe 4.0 NVMe, Several hundred more for an appropriate CPU, Still need RAM, Mobo, case etc.
Sure I've built some budget PC builds for under $1000 but we are not comparing equals. Things have gotten much more expensive since your $1.5k build.

Just placed one, you need to keep trying. Placed from mobile browser with CC. First attemt was on desktop with Paypal, paypal went through but order page said "there was problem with payment". Called them - paypal was voided, will refund back in 2 weeks. Thats dumb design.

Nope. Best bet would be a trade-in at EB or selling the game to get money towards a controller.

i start to thinking these bundles are chosen by sony. bigw and ebgame are doing the same bundles today, disc+gt and digital+black controller. both no console only drop.

Yeah if it was a bigw bundle it would have 2 separate article numbers. Only has one so it must be a separate bundle from Sony.
