The prices have dropped from $69.99 to $54.99.

Not sure when the offer expires.

Mod: Edited price in title as there seems to be a discrepancy between the one listed on the web and iTunes

  • Certainly better price, in particular if you purchase it with credit from discounted iTunes cards…. say 25% off (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/69837) making this $41.24. It's still an expensive app when you consider that the gps in the iPhone is fairly ordinary at times…. and for adhoc purposes the standard google maps or even some of the cheaper maps on the iTunes store do the job….

Not saying this isn't a good deal compared to the normal price but personally, if I was going to consider spending this much on a GPS app, I'd seriously consider forking the money out for a dedicated unit. Bigger screen, more powerful gps chip/antenna….

    • This is a universal app, which mean "Bigger screen" on iPad. I doubt that you are using it for walking the park.

    • Google maps requires network data connectivity.

  • I DL Sygic Australia & New Zealand the other week. Used a couple of times so far and have been quite impressed with it. Only mention it as current price is $34.99 (which is standard) is still below TomTom. Didn't go for TomTom due to price and mixed reviews.

I have the TomTom app and I think it's great. Been quick and reliable - far better than my actual TomTom GPS unit!

You are right the phone app is quite good. Still a real GPS unit has its advantage.

Main problem is temperature of the phone. Drive for a short time might be all right. If you go for a long drive, the phone gets hot very quick and sometimes restarts itself, that happened several times under the summer sunlight. But my GPS unit never did that.

  • Why I am getting $59.99 when I click on the link?

    • works fine for me

The link comes up as $54.99 but when you open in iTunes it says $59.99

          Reason for this:

US iTunes Store: TomTom Australia is $54.99 USD
AU iTunes Store: TomTom Australia is $59.99 AUD

Internet page shows the US iTunes store price. About the price difference, don't know whether it is a TomTom's decision or Apple's decision.

However, according to Appshopper, $59.99 AUD is the lowerest ever for this app in iTunes AU store. I bought mine at a higher price.

  • I don't know much about GPS apps. But I heard that Waze is a good and free app in case if you don't want to spend that much for a tomtom

    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftwa…

    • Waze requires network data connectivity to operate.
TomTom has the maps built-in and therefore does not need network data to operate.

I have this TomTom App since first version, and it works just great! If price is the concern, you can buy it and install it on your friends iphone (with your account) and take the share from them.

  • Heard apple is making their own gps app. Maybe better to wait?

    • Have to wait for IOS 6 so a long way.

    • why would we want gps from apple? would it be for america only? would it have every aussie street and backroad??

      • That suppose to replace Google Map.

  • "Where is" is an awesome gps app. Best free one I've come acrcoss.

  • if you use GPS regularly.. like listening to ipod music but don't have a car with AUX or ipod connectivity and require charging whilst driving.. this app connected to a belkin tunebase FM hansfree makes a wonderful combo. its all quite seamless and I couldn't imagine a standalone tomtom or a rival app to do all that.

    • Standalone TomTom units can, you just need something like TomTom Go 720 or better (FM transmitter, Voice commands, Bluetooth connectivity), can playback music in SD cards (I think also read books). Pretty sure Garmin has units that offer similar features (likewise for Navigon and Navman).
