Logitech K400 - $42.90 Delivered from ShoppingSquare

301

Yes, it is from shopping square, yes, it is a direct import, but it is the cheapest :)
Price is actually $29.95 + $12.95 postage to Sydney, I assume delivery to most metro places would be the same.
Same as the one previously posted, but cheaper http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64858
Does anyone know what is different about the "asian" version?

Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400 with built-in TouchPad - DS ( US English - Asian Version**)

Good find, I was just about to post this! Hopefully LTS matches this!

    • +1

No need to wait for LTS, just go to officeworks, they will match .com.au online price.

      • that'll send them broke..

        • +1

I price matched the Logitech Pure-Fi anywhere 2 at Officeworks for $75 which LTS is doing it for $79.

        • +7

I didn't realise that pricematching keyboards is going to put Coles/Wesfarmers into administration. Thanks.better sell my shares.

      • No stock at OW, Sydney CBD. =(

  • Does anyone know what is different about the "asian" version?

Looks like it has some weird symbols on the keys…

    • well, looks like it's direct import from Taiwan

    • Chinese Input Method.

    • I have one of these from shopping square and was a bit miffed about the chinese characters on the keys but you get used to it and there are english characters on their too, they're just smaller than the Chinese ones.

    • Could be handy if you need / know how / learn how to type Chinese.

      • +1

AAAH The IRONY that anything to do with the NBN would be advocating the use of anything Chinese! ;-)

Could be a stealth way of moving towards a certain former foreign minister's vision of an Asia-literate country in an Asian country.

      • speaking of stealthy, website in promo picture looks like OzBargain. Crafty buggers!

  • +1

Nice, I just bought one yesterday. Officeworks and Dicksmith have it for $49.95 and I used them to pricematch at JB HiFi as I had a gift card. The keyboard is not too bad but I think the media keys are a bit dodgy.

    • +1

Hmm…just had a look on both OW and DS sites and they have it listed at $69.98.

      Was it an in-store price?

      • No, it was on-line price. Both have changed it to $69.98 just yesterday.

  • +2

Good price, however the keys have asian symbols on them, have used it and can be quite distracting and ugly.
But if you don't care, this saves you a few bucks

    not backlit, so no good

    • +1

Learn to touch type lol! j/k… sort of.

    • This type of keyboard mainly for Media Centre PC.

  • does it need line-of-sight to work tho?? because I had a MX3200 K/B & mouse set and it sucked because the receiver really need to be visible for it to work. Or unless I had a dud…. :)

    • Don't think so, was playing with a coworkers K400 a few weeks back and it was working fine two cubicles over.

      • +1

2 cubicles over huh…so did u use it to send out funny emails? LOL
        I'm now tempted if you're right…

        • +1

I assumed it wouldn't work so was just typing out the old quick brown fox. He wanders back to his desk and its all there, no gaps. If I'd thought it would be working, the CEO would have got a few quick emails ;-)

        • "just" the CEO?! I would've sent it out to the whole company…I guess that depends if that was a "mate" or not… :P

  • ** Asian Version - US English Keyboard with Both English and Asian character on the keys

    hmmm dun like that

    • See my comment above, the keys also have english characters printed on them but the chinese ones are the largest. Who looks at keys when they type anyway?

I should add that of all the "mini" keyboards I have owned in the past (quite a few, including the DiNovo), this one is by far the best for touchpad responsiveness, usability and general ergonomics. It also has an on/off switch on the top edge so you can turn the keyboard off to prevent accidental pressing of buttons when you leave it on the coffee table.

      • +1

Who looks at keys when they type anyway?

        These type of people.

        • to be honest I still look at the keys when I type lol as I type 11 fingers.

        • You have 11 fingers? …. that's nice to know.

  • what is the range on these keyboard? I had one mouse logitech, it didn't work well over 2 meter distance.

    • I've used mine up to 6m away with no problems, direct line of sight though, no walls or obstacles (except the actual PC)

      • does it work "without" line of sight?? @hellbound says yes but u said no… :)

        • -1

I haven't tested with an obstacle, the way I use it I have clear line of sight to the PC from wherever I use it.

    • I bought one a few months ago - very poor range and keeps losing keystrokes or lagging way behind what you're typing to the point where you think it has forgotten the keystroke and you hit it again, only to suddenly get two keystrokes.
Perhaps the specific one we got was a dud, but in the end, not suitable for our home media PC.
Definitely would not recommend this on a technical level. Worth paying more for a better model and avoid the frustration. And the Chinese characters are a bit of an unexpected negative, but not a show stopper

  • Anyone tried a price match @ OW's yet?

I did see it the other day (and was about to buy it) for $50…

    • I have price matched something else before with LTS, no problem.

    • Just picked one up at OW (Keysborough) for $28.45, using my phone.

      • +2

That's incredibly inefficient. I would have used my hands.

      • I had to use my phone to show them the shopping square price too.
The guy tried to bring up their site and it had been blocked by their IT dept.
I wonder if they block the site because they know shopping square sell cheap imported stuff, lol.

  • just lets hope LTS has a better offer. perfect for the HTPC

  • LTS is $49 delivered for a presumably a non-Asian one…worth the extra $6.50?

    • +3

      yes definitely

  • i'd wait for logitechshop to match price and get a non-asian version in a days rather than a month

    • Why? Just do it with OW and will have 5% off more.

I think a lot of people don't know OW price match .com.au online store.

Price matched at OW Dandenong (VIC) about half an hour ago, receipt linked.
They had a few in stock.

    • Thanks…. Worked For me TOO…

Price matched at Blacktown (NSW), using my phone, about 7:30pm.
    $40.78

(how do I post receipt image - if anyone wants it?)

    • +1

      Ouch.
      OW pricematched mine to $28.45

      • +1

You're lucky they did not look at delivery. I got mine at $40.85 (pm @ OW). Dude actually went and put through an order just to make sure it was legit.

        • +1

good for him. now lets see him explain to his boss why $40.78 is missing.

  • Good keyboards these, ive got one for the HTPC/server dutys, the range is really good, solid signal right up to the 10 meters, the trackpad is accurate and sensitive enough. The only thing that would make it the perfect HTPC keyboard is some backlighting, but apart from that it is a really good unit.

The price is excellent as well, i paid 68 bucks for mine around 7 weeks ago.

  • +1

Thanks OP - just picked one up from North Sydney Officeworks store, by price matching ShoppingSquare delivered price. So was $40.75. Very nice piece of kit to go with my HP Microserver. There were 7 left on the shelf at 9.30am, so hurry down there if you want to snaffle one. It says in manual that you can use two finders to scroll, but does pinch-in and pinch-out to zoom work as well? Also, I think most advanced touchpad gestures are Win7 only, though happy to be corrected on that…

    • +1

I just picked one up too! Just have to explain to the wife why we need a new keyboard…

  • Just got one for $28.45 using the Dandenong OW receipt.

Even @ $40, this keyboard is the perfect solution to my HP microserver

  • OW in adelaide would not price match because it was a direct shipping offer ???

    • use the Dandendong receipt.

  • Just managed to get 2 from OW north ryde @28.45 with Dandenong OW receipt. They have 4 more in stock and west ryde has 6 in stock.

    • Can you publish OW north ryde receipt plz? Will go after work.
      Thanks.

  • Just be wary and check the seals. Of the 7 in canberra civic store, only 2 were sealed… hmmmm!

  • I just got one using the Receipt posted here. Went to OW Castle Hill, show him the receipt and website on my Iphone. Paid $28.45 … NO fuss… can't wait to try it at home.. :)

  • Come on could anyone in Sydney please publish a receipt of $28.45?

  • I think I might have got very lucky as I ended up paying only $27.55. The lady was really nice who price matched, I told her it was $29.95 but I think she made a mistake and put it through as $29. Here's a receipt: http://upload.ozbargain.com/2012/05/17/8450_scan0001.jpg
Also, the one I picked was the last one on show so they might have some out the back just check with them before going in.
    Thanks OP and OZBargain.

  • Nice deal, but a bit too cramped for touch typing.

    • I'm finding it pretty good for touch typing (using it to type this message), however I miss Home and End having their own keys.
Very good as a HTPC keyboard :)
