4400mAh really isn't much. Probably would do one charge before you'd have to charge it again.
Worth saving your money and putting it to a better one. This is a 10,000mAh for $15.83 Romoss Power Bank Dual USB External Battery 25W Fast Charger 2.1A

      wise man…………

  • +2

Good price and it has LED torch. I was tempted but I gave up because it only charges at 1A (5W) only.

  • Would this be suitable to power an LED strip for under a gazebo? Not sure how long it will last using that before charging again

    • +1

Is LED strip 5V? May be 12V.

      • Ah it's 12V

        • +1

          Most I've used are.

Otherwise would Divide 4400(mAh) by power consumption of strip (in mA) to give approximate number of hours use.
          e.g. 200mA consumption might last 22hr.

          • @INFIDEL: Ah it will still work then? Sorry not familiar with this stuff :(

            • +2

@iShibby: No, needs 12v power supply

Calculation was just to show how to find how long strip would be lit - if was operated at correct voltage⚡

              • @INFIDEL: Ah dang, are there any powerbanks that are 12V?

                • +1

                  @iShibby: They're called car batteries😉

                  • @INFIDEL: Lol gotcha thanks mate :)

                    • +1

@iShibby: Powerbanks with PD (USB-C) output may charge at 12V - but only to devices where they detect it can be used.
                      But not for led strips.
                      And start at ~$10 more.

Have fun with the LED strips💡

                • +1

@iShibby: what about the ones that double as car starters?

                  Edit: eg: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/certa-16000mah-water-resistant-…

                  • @Duff5000: Now that's an idea!

                    • +1

@iShibby: Now were getting a bit more costly & high power than needed!

Considering those are expecting a car battery etc, I don't know I'd trust it on low drain Led lights - may burn them out.

Better off with a cheaper 12V gel cell or similar rechargeable battery, designed to hold charge for electronics. Requires a basic charger or solar panel.

                      Or 10 x 1.2V rechargeable batteries in a holder.

                      Or just a 12V plug pack & long lead…

                      Lots of options.

I've lived with 12V off grid systems over years, & using LEDs for decades.

                    • +1

@iShibby: You may already have 12V product with rechargeable battery & charger.
eg Have an old 12V drill that isn't used, but battery will run my LED lights.

                      • @INFIDEL: I do have an old 12v drill with batteries, what do I need to convert them to power the lights? The lights have a cigarette adapter or USB

                        • +1

@iShibby: Er, way back you said its 12v. If it can run off usb then just get the powerbank. They must be designed to run fine off USB, the supplied car adaptor probably steps down from 12v to the 5v.

If you want to use your old drill battery you would need a way to wire from the terminals to the supplied car adapter. That may or may not be easy depending on how you you are with that sort of thing.

                        • @iShibby: Drills design differ, so yours may be different…

You want to put the battery pack back in the charger - so don't attach wires to the battery.

Try to make a holder for the battery to slip into, making contact with suitable metal contacts. See how it fits in the drill & copy that. Doesn't have to be fancy.

Run wires from those contacts to the LED strip.

Middle pin of cigarettes plug is Positive, outer contact (on side) is negative.

Be careful to wire the positive of the battery contact (often indicated with a + or red) to the positive wire on the light. Similar for the negative (- or black). Reversing the contacts may wreck the lights.

If you have access to a multimeter (used to measure voltages), check the polarity (+/- of wires from battery holder) on the DC Volt range of at least 12V, before connecting.

Double check before inserting battery / turning on!! (Even after years of experience, I've made stupid errors!)

Can then slide battery in / out to turn on / off, & put back on charger.

PM me if you need advice.

                        • +1

                          @iShibby:

The lights have a cigarette adapter or USB

Have you plugged the USB PLUG into a USB socket to test if it also works on 5V?
If it does - a cheap Powerbank would be simpler.

What's the brand & model# of the light or link to it? So we can check.

                            • +1

                              @iShibby: Power source: USB-powered
                              Also listed as 12V powered!
3 way to power: USB, battery clips and cigarette 12 volt connector

So any powerbank like this is easiest solution! They come up regularly.
                              You'd then be set up!

                              90 LED RGB lights

                              Good reviews!

                              $1.00 was $39

                              But sold out ;-(
                              I want a few😉

                              Enjoy your gazebo light show!

                              • @INFIDEL: Yeah we managed to snag 4 before they sold out at $1, mad price. Might see if I can get a power bank with 2 outputs to run 2 off

  • Zendure A2 6,700mAh Portable Charger is same price on Kogan, free delivery with Kogan First.

  • get one before it's sold out

Its not that good deal to be buying it without thinking about it. Those $0.99 GOLF Powerbank deal was a lot lot better than this $9 deal even tho that GOLF one was a micro USB, this is a micro usb charging too, no USB C here either

  • They are still selling these?

I bought one in 2014 and even back then it wasn't amazing
